Michael, you are so tender in speaking of your Orchids. Since I found you, on the YT I have learned so much about the care and species of Orchids and you have inspired me to give Orchids a go. Have no idea where to start my collection from. Sad I as a few years late, I certainly, would love to have purchased this Orchid family from you.
Michael, I was fortunate enough to give a home to your coryanthes macrantha, and I’m so excited that it has bloomed!!! 🥳😍 Thank you for sharing this beauty with me.
Honest and needed video. Thanks
Awh Michael you spoke like a parent with his children leaving the nest 😭 Thanks so much for all the advise and humour you put into your videos ❤️ I'm proud to say my little orchid has finally provided a shoot with some strong looking flower buds I'm just waiting on them opening for her to show off her true beauty. After watching your videos I have been giving her some black tea jacuzzi baths every few months and been brave enough to trimmed back the old root growth. So thank you again ❣️❣️🌸🌺
How wonderful that you recognize your capabilities with certain orchids. We could all take a lesson from this video. Thanks Micheal.
When you were in Denver you had a beautiful philodendron. What did you do with it? I was in love with it.
Totally understand. I was gifted a phal three years ago with the instructions to not feel bad if it dies, because they always do. You've given me the courage and knowledge to study them and keep it alive. I do have a question though. As the last flower fell from the spike, two new spikes showed up within a few weeks, but one looks like a flower spike and the other is a spike with a leaf on the end. I know it's too happy in the orchid pot, because it's growing through the slats and up around the rim instead of above the medium. What does it mean when a spike has a leaf on the end of it ?_? And thank you for sharing your collection and knowledge.
How often do you water andwater with what . Mine don't bloom anymore.
Michael, where did you buy your miltonia sunset??? I can’t find one for sale anywhere that ships to the US? I must have one!!! 🤤
Thanks for the info God bless you fantastic idea Im from south Africa bye
I have a wonderful collection - and will be more than happy to give your babies the care and attention they deserve. Love your video! Hey one thought: vandas in nature would be vertical not horizontal, like hanging from a tree or attached. Vandas in homes tend to be horizontal and don't drain and can be victims of crown rot. Try tying it up.
Hi, I've been loving your videos, including this one, and am currently swapping a couple of my lovelies to a semi-hydroponic medium following your instructions. Although I have 9 Phalaenopsis I really am a complete beginner. One thing I'm really struggling with is keeping the leaves looking healthy as mine are covered in mineral deposits and dust even when lovely and plump and turgid. After a bit of research, I attempted to use mayonnaise and at first the results were amazing but within a couple of weeks the leaves seemed to attract even more dust and deposits. Is this something you could consider doing a video about as your plants and their leaves always look amazing?
The large Vandas definitely enjoy their wet dry cycles. That said, I've had success with semi hydro on Neofinetia hybrid Vanda orchids. Falcata grows well for me in the method. The Darwinara Rainbow stars, Renantanda (renanthera and Neofinetia) all do well. If case you want some vanda types that do well in S/H :)
It is important to reduce a collection where you really can't give them the individual care they need. I think about that often tending my 2000 plants..........this has inspired me.
Darn, I wanted the black pearl... I always watch your video when you upload right away... but then one day I didn’t, I missed the opportunity to buy one!
I watched too late :( Already sold out of them. I am a Florida girl and vandas love Florida. This is such a great video to remind us it should be what the plant wants and needs not what we want and need. I would love some of those cold growing orchids but I know my limits. Great video Michael! My plants are my babies :)
"reducing the size of your orchid collection"
doing what now? Well, I am getting rid of a bunch of plants but that is only because I have to make room for a large order from Ecuagenera. 😬
And speaking of loving homes, Zns Blue Birds starting to grow now, three new growths, one may be producing a spike. So despite having a fit about being shipped, it should be OK. And the single bulb that broke off when I unpacked it has a growth of its own.
MICHAEL. Literally nothing could bring me more joy than receiving this news right now! Yesssss, you are king of everything! Thank you for nurturing that fussy lil beauty. She’s non-cooperative but definitely worth it 😍
It's a shame you don't do videos Michael, I would love to see your collection sometime 😁
Reducing ? 😁 I'm with Mr. McCarthy on this one
