I finished the first book, the Name of the Wind during Covid. It was like nothing I've read before, and it's saying a lot since I'm a major bookworm. This song gave me the chills, and I love this so much
I read the second book first then got the first one, and the order I read them in was actually perfect, made then end of the first book a little predictable but still amazing! So happy to find this song

I swear I had no idea what this was about, then I randomly picked up The Name of the Wind at an airport, and on the plane I was playing Edema Ruh on headphones when I read the word. I was like.. ooooohh.

I had just started the book when this album came out. I was like, "That's strange. I wonder if the Edema Ruh are part of mythology or historical Scandinavian culture..." Nope, just a coincidence of timing for me.
I had to look up what edema ruh meant and listen to the lyrics of the song and I was like ooooooh! It's really good about the old bards that would go from town to town singing all their songs. And that's pretty much what touring is that's exactly what Nightwish does. And because I'm a nurse in the US edema means something totally different. It means a swelling of fluid that can happen anywhere in the human body. So I was very surprised to hear what it meant in a different language. Great song!

I am 65 years old and even though I don’t look like I am a fan of this band and other symphonic metal bands (Delain, Within Temptations) I love this! The music is ageless!

I am 60 and became a fan just over a year ago.
I am 64 years young....and found Nightwish ( by chance, or was it meant to be? ) during the first lock downs in 2020. I am disabled and don't get out very much, but when I did, it really helped keep my spirits up. As an artist, I would get my inspiration from nature. Being kept away from nature made it rough on me! Nightwish has helped inspire me...so many of the songs have helped my creativity and keep me happy!

Agree with that! She's genius and reading her musical history up to when they (Nightwish) called her as an emergency to WACKEN 2013 and how it lead her to be the new singer, just wow. Made me respect her even more. I found out about her because I like EPICA

This song, this music, describes pretty accurately how I imagine the Edema Ruh whenever I read The Kingkiller Chronicle.

Nightwish is lucky to have Floor as their vocalist.
and she likewise! She gave them the perfect singer and they gave her...the world 🤣 Everyone forgets she was a burned out wreck when Nightwish gave her the call up. We would probably never have seen Floor again if not for them needing a replacement for a pregnant Anette and a massive leap of faith later she has a husband and couple of kids as well as a blossoming solo career.

This was honestly such an emotional moment to find out that one of your favorite band had a song about your favorite books of all time. And I had listened the album a few times before reading the titles of the songs xD.

I just got to see them at a small venue two weeks ago, and this was one of my favorite songs they did live. I also got to meet Marko and Troy. They were very cool and gracious, especially since my city was the second to the last stop on their North American tour. They were exhausted, but greeted fans after the show. I am still on a fangirl high.

Everyone was beside themselves that Nightwish was even here. I am consistently disappointed at the lack of cool bands that will come down here. I even told Marco that, because I was so excited to be talking to him face-to-face. He was so funny, because he apologized for the lack of coolness. :-) lol
Well hopefully more will come to your neck of the woods. But in once sense I'm kinda relieved that I didn't miss out on the same chance you had.

Someone needs to put Nightwish in contact with Patrick Rothfuss to do the soundtrack for the eventual Kingkiller Chronicles TV series/film.

Films pervert and exploit novels unless the author had a heavy hand in them. We don't need another Dark Tower incident.
Lin-Manuel Miranda will compose the music for the TV series and I think the film also. Its been announced. He contacted Rothfuss to do it, since he's a big fan of Kingkiller. And Rothfuss loves Hamilton, so it worked out nicely hahah.
Tuomas Holopainen has another band where all their songs are about those books. I don't remember the name of the band, but Google can help you.

These are their names in the Nightwish scrolls, also known as the Enema Ruh scrolls, found amongst the annals of the city of Taranfloor Maroy, in the section called Nightquest. Nightwish is the name of travelling companions, or Enema Ruh, as they sometimes call themselves. Nightquest is their endeavour their need to accomplish.
The ladies of the Quest are introduced first. They are also known by the names of musical instruments:
- Anette is the Lute by the campfire. Her Quest name be Warmjoy in the annals, or the Hearth Lady.
- Floor is the Violin or the Cello - OK, the whole string department she may be called, sometimes even the Brass Murmuring. Exciting, jaw-dropping, erotic, comforting, inspiring, thrilling, battle preparing, heart-quickening, playful and many other charms she has. Her fame name, the name on her continuing Nightquest be the Warrior Queen. She hails from the land of Amazonia, the region called Holtland, or Houdland or the Wold. Another famous one of her many names is the Trailblazer, or the Flaming Lady.
- Tarja is the Flute guiding in the lone forest path, or flying amidst the stars. Her they call the Dreamweaver, the Pathbreaker, the Starlady.
The annals also know ye names of ye male companions in the quest band, they be:
- Tuomas the Wizard, the Questleader, the Netminder. His passions is to keep the band focused on the quest. But his nature is to find quests, so he has started other quests too.
- Jukka the Pirate, the Passionbeat. He had to retire from the quest travelling on foot, he was exhausted by the road ever winding - his healer got him stop. But he's along in the wagons, leading that part of the quest, for his passion is still with this endeavour. He took care that the quest kept its pace. So his role was the Timewatcher.
- Kai the Half-Giant, the Machinebeat. He came to replace Jukka, his dear friend. He's also known as Kai the Steadfast, who has now inherited the role of Timewatcher.
- Emppu the Hobbit, the Trixter, the Jester. He's known from his jolly nature, he cheers the quest up by his jollity - his funny word plays, and tricks keep the Questwalkers in high spirits, their mind young, and so their road is less weary ahead. He's also very nimble with his hands, so he can weave patterns, shapes and constructs they need.
- Sami the Red, Sami the Quiet. He was an early participant, but he had to retire before the road took them to the uncharted wilds, the legend of Nightquest was just about to begin when he left. Few outsiders remember him, though they would know about the Nightquest.
- Marko the Warrior (also Marco), Marko the Viking, Marko the Forkbeard. He's the Hand of the Questleader. He's also known by the names Marko the Gandalf, the Storyweaver, the Oldyarn, the Beloved, the Strider - with many names he is known by those, who speak with admiration of the Legend of Nightwish.
- Troy the Bard. He's a troubadour who joined the Quest quite late, having briefly shared many mutual miles with them before. His gift he brings in the quest is the multitude of musical instruments he carries with him, easying their mood, lightening their step on the road. Emppu joins him often with his lute. Troys favorite choice on the road is the flute, in the taverns they stop he uses uilleann pipes, a cousin of bagpipes from the Green Island. And there are many more instruments he carries along.
Nightwish also frequents at a great hall called London, where another Questleader Pip Williams with his band joins to support the efforts of the Questleader and the whole Enema Ruh.
The keeper of these annals is called Wishmaster (he and his companions are also known from a song).

Then I googled it and saw the Nightwish-Lyrics... it was a real facepalm-moment, because I've already listened to this song several times...
