What ways do you recommend finding out what you are interested in? I want to find something I'm passionate about but I'm afraid I'm just trying to get myself into things that people say got them into colleges. I'm only a freshman, so I have a couple years ahead of me, but I just want to find out what I am passionate about. Åny tips?
Me neither I have no idea what I want to go into as a career, so I've been doing trying to do some things but i don't think it's enough. Im on a robotics team (marketing side, I'm not passionate about engineering), I do NAHS, and I'm planning on joining on NSHS and maybe doing track and field in the spring, with cross country junior year. But idk if I'll actually do those things :/

I want to start an environment and endangered animals club at my school, but I'm not sure if that would be seen as too cliché? I love helping people and spending time in nature and puzzles. I'm thinking of starting a group where people could ask for help from students in my high school and anyone available could help them out with anything they need. I want to get into puzzles but I'm not sure how. I just have a couple box puzzles in my room and can't find anything nearby that isn't jigsaw-puzzle based, and there's not really any awards to win in box puzzles and other physical puzzles unlike rubiks cubes. My school already has a board game club and I don't think the school would allow me to create a club like the puzzle one because I'd have to tell them why it's important but it's just something fun I like to do. I think these sound too common and seem like something anyone would say and do but I really do like helping people! If I continue like this would you think this would be okay? I'm not too sure what I could do with this.
1) your club idea is not cliche but you need to develop more your club idea 2) it's okay to do things for fun. You don't have to win awards at everything
I want to help people somehow. I'm very interested in psychology. I like the idea of helping children in dangerous or abusive situations. I also like the idea of helping pregnant mothers who feel like they have no hope.

Hi! I've been interested in learning languages since I was very young, starting with French. I tried my hand at learning a lot of languages, each for many months with a few hours of dedication per day: French, Chinese, Japanese, German, and Korean. I can now speak pretty conversational German, and I'm trying to improve my other skills. I did this all by myself, out of my love and interest for all things language. My question is: does this actually count? Do self-studied foreign languages count? Will it benefit me more if I take proficiency tests such as the CEFR tests?

My school has this huge vacant plot that got overgrown with grass, and I'd like to take 1/8 of it. Now, the problem is, how should I approach my principal. I'm much frightened of the idea of asking permission, especially from my principal. It's not that he's hot-headed. It may be the fact that we're not close to each other, YET. But once my school goes for offline teaching, I'm going to ask him immediately. Until then, I'm preparing the necessary tools and seeds to grow. While also searching the green thumbs for extra support. But if I ended up alone, then I'd take the opportunity to work independently. And I'm currently running a UA-cam channel (Not this account, though!) I upload my art process; timelapse/speedpaints. How-to's of drawing the head, hand, anatomy, etc. All centered around anime. I'm very much interested in art as I am in gardening. But I would like to make my gardening a pastime while drawing for a career.

My suggestion is have some ECs that show you're academically strong in a specific niche area, and then some that demonstrate UNIQUE and DEEP passion that manifests in IMPACT.
Hi ma'am, I love your channel. I just have one doubt. My dream school is MIT but I am passionate about any good school. But being from a country like India, I was not exposed to much competitions and extracurriculars. That is until my 10th grade when I changed school to one which is compatible with US college admissions. Now, because 10th/sophmore is a very important academic year for us students, my new school adviced the students to refrain from taking part in many competitions and focus on studies. Because my curriculum is new, I had to study. So I have only 11th and 12th (junior and senior respectively) remaining and I don't believe the extracurricular achievements I have: which are on school level, are that impressive, even though I have a fair amount. I do have a chance to take part in huge competitions and creating a passion project but the time remaining is less. Should I be worried about getting into my dream school, or should I just go with the flow and grab every opportunity I have? Thank you

I have two questions. So i'm not from the USA (I'm from Europe) and here, due to that we don't have to apply to universities you can just go if you graduated, we never had to pay any further attention to "good" EC. I always did many EC but I never won any awards or was in any supercool rankings. I will graduate in two years and I wonder if I have any chance to get into an ivy when I start so "late" with deepening my passions. And my second question is: do American universities like to see gap years or is it a disadvantage? I
I live in a city in America very college driven. Believe me, universities here are not a determining factor for your overall success in life. Aside from that, getting into an Ivy League here is a real 50/50 shot honestly. Many people will tell you that you need certain grades or extracurricular to get in, but even people who check all the boxes are not even considered just because there are too many applications to sift through. Also, for students that are not citizens of America, it is a whole other difficult process and an even slimmer admission rate. Starting late/gap year will not put you at any disadvantage, as long as you are smart. It’s the other things that might. But take ur chances. Now this is all for Ivy League schools btw. If your interested in universities here that are not as prestigious that’s another story.
I have a question for anyone willing to help me out. I am in a dual credit high school program with about 90 other students from the school district in my class. So by the time I graduate I’ll have my associates degree from UNM. However I don’t go to the high school physically and don’t take their classes. So I have no AP Classes. I also have a hard time taking extra curricularlars. I am only a sophomore right now so I still have time. So my question is how will this effect my chances of going to a top college? Any tips on what I should do that will help me out making it easier for myself in the future? Thank you 😁
Many people dont say this is right but I am worrying about uni at age 12 :/ should i be worried? Well I am not in a bad postion when it comes to academic and extracurricular activites. But is it wrong?
Murimi Muchina it’s not wrong at all! Uni can be stressful and it’s okay to strive for it. But don’t feel too stressed because you should still enjoy your life/childhood ☺️
It’s not you that has done anything wrong. It’s just the pressure that society puts onto young kids. I ask you, if you follow this so called path, will you really be happy? I mean getting good grades is supposed to get u into a great college right? And then you go off on an amazing career? And your life breezes by with 401ks and new cars. Sure you may never have to worry about paying the bills, but ask yourself deep down is that the life u want? I mean it is predictable and opulent which brings some sort of comfort, but will you be happy? Nothing against you, but you are 12 years old and should not decide what will make you happy 20 years from now. Enjoy your life while you still got it. Princeton may make you happy, but spending time in your friends backyard is the most you need to worry abt right now.

How can I explore my love about learning languages without being tutoring??
Go to a competition, idk, brain storm ideas
Learn more languages, travel to places where they speak it(if that's possible for you), and try to find out why you love learning languages.
I'm also passionate about learning languages :))
Look at the research, it makes no difference as to which college you attend. Majority of the captains of fortune 500 companies are lower tier schools.
Thank you 😁
For your unique situation have you thought about asking a counsellor/advisor at your school? Or reach out to the school directly? they might help! :)
Not at all. I'm 14 and am stressed out about the future. You can never be to early, but can ALWAYS be late.
How to find what I am passionate about??
Find what you love to do
Hi! I’m an 11th Grade Student from the Philippines and I’m really interested on applying to an Ivy School. Considering I don’t have sports nor do I play instruments and I’m Asian, is there any chance that I can make this up? I won a national competition at a Science Research and I’m a consistent Math Olympiad from 1st Grade until 10th Grade. I want to enter pre-med too. Thanks.
How's it going Matthew
Please reply....I have completed two courses on 'Reacitation and presentation style(Bangla)' and Singing....I am a science lover but I didn't get any opportunity to participate in any science fair or so...I love to learn new languages. Currently I am in class 9 and I won't get any opportunity to participate in science realted programmes till I get in class 11. I have got some short courses of programming, graphics design, etc. I love doing all of them.I mean my skills are not dedicated in one direction...😥. What should I do now? should I go for science related activities or leave them when I pass class 10....plzzzzz...help me...plzzzzzz
you should tutor little kids who are interested in science
@@GA1A_ I don't even have that option. Because, In here usually classes are not held properly but we have to do these classes so, we have to do extra classes. We spend 10 hours in school (7:00 am to 5:00 pm)...so, I get a very less time to sleep and study.....not all the schools are like this but govt. and famous schools are like this😥
oh man, sorry about that! if you have summer breaks or any breaks in general, you could make a youtube channel that talks about science and all the new things and breakthroughs that are occurring in the scientific world. don’t worry, you’ll be able to think of something eventually, but try to make sure you genuinely enjoy it
@@GA1A_ I was also thinking about that.....by the way, thanks for your sujjession😇. Do you have instagram accout? We might contact there.
Swarup's Kids' Pedia sorry i do not use social media. i wish you good luck with your college journey, good bye
Hello, Mam That was a very informative video. i want to get scholarship in BS English. could you help me to suggest me some extracurricular activities.Thank you
if we need to apply for the 2026 year at Harvard, when should we apply?
December 2025/January 2026 if you're applying RD, November 2025 if you're going for REA. Also, you're in 7th grade rn (cuz I'm in Class of 22 and I'm in my junior year and you're 4 years younger than me obv) so I suggest you try out as many ECs as you can in the next couple of years, so that you can continue with what you love in the last two years of HS.
@@JustAnotherLokiStan thank u so much..and btw i am in 10th grade now
@@beautifulsoul5744 you're welcome! Also, I got thought you were in 7th grade cuz from your sentence it kinda seems that you're applying for fall session of 2026 which would make you Class of '30. My bad lol
@@beautifulsoul5744 so basically you have to apply in the winter of the year before the session you're hoping to apply for
Could I just do an internship instead of volunteering to get into an Ivy League?

Sociology would be majors.
Still i have no hopes of getting accepted.
Please tell me, do I have any chances of getting into it?
Your grades aren't that hot, but if you can write up an amazing common app essay and get great recommendation letters, you have chances. Slim possibility or not, a possibility is still a possibility.
My academic is poor so can I aiming for Harvard?
