How to ADD CHLORINE to your Pool PROPERLY
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 кві 2018
- Watch how to add chlorine to you pool using your chlorinator (if you have one) or simply by just dropping a few tablets into your pool's skimmer.
Please people, when you take the cap off (after turning filter off), don’t look down the tube immediately. Open the cap, with your face off to the side, let it breathe for 5 seconds. If there is a buildup up gas, looking down the tube immediately and getting a hit of chlorine can knock you back! Be safe.
Good point! LOL do the same when opening your tub of chlorine too!
Thank you
Should had read this before doing this today lol
I literally just did this 💀
Never fill the chlorinator tube all the way to the top with tablets. On my commercial route I never used more than 4-6 tabs per week on large pools. I was using sodium hypochlorite or liquid bleach if the chlorine was low to balance the chemistry and the tablets were used to maintain chemistry until my next service appointment.
#1 you're not keeping a log of your chemistry.
#2 you're wasting tri-chlor tablets
The chlorinator tube should be filled with water up to the top of the feed tube then capped with a small air gap at the top of the tube.
#3 Always inspect the o-ring inside the cap
#4 Always "reset" the feeder valve. Turn the valve off then all the way open about 4-5 times to clear any crystalized chlorine.
#5 you don't have to overfeed your chlorine. Set the valve at a 2 or 3 after balancing your chems. If chlorine is high or low adjust the valve accordingly for lesser or greater demand.
Hi Matt - - won't filling up more tablets than you need (I've had Leslie's people tell me 1 tablet per 10,000 gallons of pool water is the standard) quickly raise one's cyanuric acid? Thx!
@@rudianger123 yes it would. Check your cyanuric acid levels weekly.
On the money must be a experienced pool professional love it 👌
NEVER fill all the way with tabs.
Tablets have a VERY low pH, and if used in your skimmer week after week, you could experience what's called "bleed out", or discoloration to the pool surface immediately outside the skimmer opening. I always carry floaters and will use those if I have no other options. If you look you can find a six pack of them for around $30 or less. And if I ever notice the floater settling over steps or shallow flat surfaces, I'll tether away from shallow spots. I know the tablet buckets say you can use them in skimmers, but it's not a good idea. Not week after week anyway.
For 2yrs I've been cleaning my gf's pool and putting the chlorine tabs directly into the skimmer basket, no issues. I just realized today that the thing I had no idea what it was is a chlorinator but I'm tryna learn more before using it. One thing every pro I've seen advises against is those floating dispensers that you claim are good, everyone says no, don't use them. Look up professional videos and see
The chlorinator is down stream of all the equipment for a reason. Chlorine concentrates should never be going through the pump or filter. If the filter has a heavy load the chlorine can cause an over pressure.
Great video
Thanks man
I set my dial to a 2 for my 15,000 gallon pool. The tabs were full but I opened it in a 1.5 weeks and it seems like nothing have been used. Are there any ways to make sure it's not clogged or the feeder is working?
You can try to add some COLOR FOOD DYE and see how much of it goes to the POOL?
You can add chlorine through the skimmer but its not the right way, the acidity of the tablet deteriorates the plastic skimmer basket over weeks. Also when th pump comes on there is a high smell of chlorine concentration if swimmers are present
Not in mine. I've done it 2yrs no issue. Levels perfect, no itching ir anything. Basket isn't eaten up, it's just broken cuz it's been in the pool for like 4yrs or so
Placing chlorine tablets into a skimmer will cause acid to build up in skimmer when the pump is off. When the pump turns back on it will bring the high concentration of acid through your equipment which will eventually prematurely ruin your new setup.
I have heard complaints that the variable speed pumps flow is to fast for the chlorinator to function properly.
He never released the trapped air out of the chlorinator that's why his chlorine level is low...
How do you do that Chris
@chris martin you are right I forgot to show how to remove all the air from the chlorinator tower.
@simplejack956 To remove all the air from the chlorinator tower, simply open the cap, make sure the pool pump is on, make sure the speed dial is set to about 4. Fill in your chlorine tablets and then wait until the water is completely filled and overflowing before closing the cap/lid of the chlorinator tower.
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS thanks for not showing an extremely important part what the hell is the point of the video then teaching people wrong.
Won't filling up too many tablets (I'm told 1 tablet per 10,000 gallons of pool water is the standard) quickly raise the Cyanuric Acid levels????
@@stevenholmes4324 Exactly!!!!!!!
That’s why there is a dial to control how much is released. It doesn’t matter if you have 6 or one tablet.
That's why I stick to the skimmer. Have for 2yrs no issues. I just put 1 and it lasts a week usually but in Florida summers it can get real scorching so they might get eaten up in 5 to 6 days, usually around a day less than usual which is decent if you know how hot FL gets in summers. Oh and it rains like 70% of the month probably in my area so that's another issue
@@lanceromance5768 Oh yes it does matter. That little dial only controls the rate of flow...not the concentration.
My directions say to shut the pump off. Close the valve on the chlorinator and then turn the pump back on. Then open the lid and refill tablets. Screw lid back on and open valve back up. I don’t understand why it tells me to turn the pump back on. This is from the directions of the same exact chlorinator that you have. Any input?
This is what mine says too idk
How much, package including the installation?
What package? the chlorine tablets? or the entire pool and pump filter system?
$500
The tabs I got off wish are verrry tiny... how many do I use??
I usually fill the entire tower about 6 tablets I think, but supposedly people say that is too toxic (too high concentration of chlorine), so putting about 4 is better (but adjusting the dial to 5 speed).
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS I have a 10 yr old., a 8 yr old and a 6 yr old. They are not used to chlorine water. But when I first set it up I used three of the small tabs and they melted very quickly.. so I added more which came out to 10 in total.. ( the first time) the water now though is cloudy and there is dirt on the bottom and my pump keeps turning off by itself. I have some kind of green stuff in the white tube that came with the pool through shipping. I'm not sure when to use the tabs and for how long or how many. And I'm not sure when and how long to use the pump for the pool. I'm very new to this as I am a new pool user. Please help!
@@shanareehamrick1197are you still having problems with your pool water?
In-line nators have no place on a residential system.
Not in Florida homie we are the phosphate and bad weather capital
Everything about how this guy added chlorine was improper 🤣
Pls explain how to do it right
First and foremost, wear pair of gloves, and never ever fill it to the top, I’ve been using this for the past 15 years it has been the best investment I have, if you live in Florida by the chlorine pinch a penny 4 in one tablets 👍🏼
@user-jo6fm1lo1h how many do you use in your chlorinator and do you set certain levels? I just realized my gf's has one but I never knew what it was I only used the skimmer method and no issues. I add one per week and levels are always super on point. No issues, no itching, no wear and tear, no bleaching
NEVER EVER ADD CHLORINE TO THE SKIMMER!!!!!!!!!!
I hate tabs, end up with too much stabilizer and it’s a bitch to undo
I have the same setup can help me on how to turn the valve to heat up the pool
