    My Kawasaki with 30 hours did the exact same thing the same side was at .0007 which is insane. I never had a Kawasaki do this at break in recall coming ? I adjusted mine and purrs like a kitten . Nice trained ear . Like mine . I’ve had about 5 kawasakis by the way . Nice video !

    I bought a mower new with this engine on it. At 299h I finally got around to checking this. I found that Cyl1 was .005 and .006 , but Cyl 2 was .009 and .012 .
    Also noticed the fins of cyl2 were packed up a lot on one side with oily dust, adjacent to oil dipstick and filter.
    Id advise you to pull that top cover additionally sometimes between valve adjustments, and make sure the fins are clean. Get some compressed air and go to town on it.
    BTW I while I appreciate the simplicity of their system I found it difficult to be precise in adjusting. Most of them took a few re-dos after tightening them down.
    Cant confirm but another poster somewhere said the torque specs for valve cover bolts are 52 in/lb and for the rocker nuts themselves 87 in/lb

    Amazing knowledge. How do I get my hands on the Patriot service manual?

      The engine service manual can be found online, just make sure it's the latest edition. I don't think there is a service manual for the patriot. Scag has a lot of info in their owners manual. They do have a service manual but it's for their SR engines. There are also service manuals for the hydros.

    Yeah it’s got a noise for sure,
    I’m like you I would be checking until I find the problem, more money for dealerships when it’s serious damage 😊

      Not to mention they would have it for 2 months and charge a fee even tho it's under warranty.

    Hey buddy , my gravely runs for about 15 min then starts surging and dies. It has the fx691 as well. Changed the plugs already is it the coils or a carb issue ?

      Sounds like it's not getting enough fuel. Make sure fuel filter is clean and the tank breather hoses aren't clogged. Could be a fuel pump issue, or coils are intermittent or coil gap out of tolerance and causes issue when it heats up. Sometimes it could even be the battery not fully charged or wonky regulator. I'd start with the fuel system and check everything. Process of elimination to make sure things are working correctly then move onto electrical. I've seen bad safety switches cause issues when riding (the blades would keep disengaging). Hard to diagnose via web but hope this helps. The manual has a good troubleshooting section with wiring schematic, etc. Also you can find exploded parts diagrams to see what components are in the fuel system. Another great resource is taryl fixes all youtube, he's been doing it for decades. Good luck!

    I always wondered why the book says 2 thou and everyone is saying 4 thou. The maximum spec is .0039” in the repair manual.

      I guess most are rounding up .0039 to .0040. Also depends on what revision kawasaki service manual you're reading, the earlier ones say .0020 to .0039, the later ones say .0040 to .0060, and i wouldnt be surprised if they revised it again.

    I have a fx730v on an Exmark Lazer Z. It runs and then surges and dies. Will run choked. New fuel filter, pump, lines, air filter and fresh oil and new filter. Any ideas? Coils? Carb?

    Is this 22hp engine too small for a 52” deck?

    • @morejelloplease
      @morejelloplease  9 місяців тому

      For the hero deck, no. I'm not sure about the velocity deck. I can plow thru 3ft tall weeds and it barely starts to drop in rpms.

      @@morejelloplease 👍🏼 thanks. I just picked up a used one with a 52” deck. I have a John Deere 275 with a 48” deck that I put a 25 hp engine on because the smaller engine wasn’t that powerful. That’s why I asked.

      @morejelloplease  Рік тому

      No, friend is letting me borrow it while I shop for another zero turn that actually cuts grass. The local scag dealers want nothing to do with me lol. Bobcat is playing games now too. Apparently, finding a mower that actually cuts grass and a dealer that has a spine is hard to find these days lol.

      @@nicktittle1206 I'll drive an hour max. JD won't get my business until they fire their current manager.
