TIP TIP and TOE were: Samuel Green (tip), Ted Fraser (tap) and Ray Winfield (toe). Often danced on table tops and other small spaces, with Ray considered to be the innovator of the sliding style of tap, later copied by everyone. Movies: All By Myself (1943) and You Can't Have Everything (1937)
Their younger stuff is cleaner certainly, but besides the age, keep in mind those were all movies, where the tap is over dubbed and multiple takes. This TV, live no over dub, and an updated arrangement of the song Earl Hines wrote from about 10 years prior. regardless , as you said....it should be us bowing at the end. thanks..
They slide on the steel "cleats" plus the soles and heels were leather, and if you're old enough to have had a pair of leather soled shoes you'll remember how they got slippery after a little wear. The dance segment in A/C's movie "Pardon My Sarong was great too! Another great dance clip is in Abbott and Costello's "In the Navy".It's the Condos Brothers dancing on gun turrets on a ship. Thanx for posting!
My favorite movie piece of theirs is from "You Can't Have Everything". They all three slide in this like they literally float in air an inch above the stage. There is lots of unbelievable speed in this one too. In my opinion, the most talented tap trio ever and also at the top individually.
Why must you compare with Mike? Michael J., like these performers, is another talented dancer in a never ending line of talented Black dancers in the history of this country. The "moon walk" and other moves Mike made famous were performed before him. It is not necessary to put down one, to appreciate the others. Mike has helped to erase some of our society's racism allowing other Black performers to reach a level of stardom that countless Black folks did not. So, mad props to Mike.
It's incredible - i wished,I could do some of that stuff!! Amazing - and so much fun to watch - its pure happiness! I dont even get a normal wing together, let alone a series just on toes. UUUUHHH, what inspiration!!!
How in the world do they slide around like that on the big block thing? it there shoes, the block, or is it just a move there pulling? thats amazing. They do a lot of nice stuff, a joy to watch.
@turnipofficer amen to that. That performance is the most amazing thing i've ever seen. They break it down real funky... someone needs to remix these guys videos to some tasty techno or something!
The problem with MJ was he took credit for stuff he did not actually create. He never gave credit to his teacher in the 1970's...Poppin Taco who in fact taught him the moonwalk.
Best trio ever in tap dancing - PERIOD!!
along with condos brothers (there was three to begin with apparently)

Their best routine in in Abbott and Costello's Pardon My Sarong. Fabulous. They bow at the end of this. We should be bowing to them.

Raymond Winfield is as good a slide dancer as the late great Dr. Jimmy Slyde!
YOU MEAN JIMMY SLYDE IS ALMOST AS GOOD AS RAYMOND WINFIELD!!
The titl should be "So You Think You Can Dance?"
Nuff Said is right. And people think Michael Jackson can dance.
