How is he doing? I have had a few dialogues with him over the past five years and he said he was having a lot of health issues. I hope he's doing well.
Drummer's configuration is one of the most strange things I've seen in my entire life. The way the hi hat and ride are positioned, the bass drums. Don't know how he learnt to play like that (was he left handed or something?). Anyway, always loved his sound, powerful guy hitting the heads.
I dont know if he was left handed but his drum set up has the air of someone who was self taught and thought it will be easier for me to have the kit this way
Oh, my gosh, this is fantastic. Who cares if it is lip-synched. Lip-synched Chameleons is a million times better than live every other band. Interesting gear the boys are using here. Burns bass and a Danelectro Long Horn? That stuff makes the Micro-Fret seem like an ordinary Fender.
You say ' Lip-synched Chameleons is a million times better than live every other band.' As much as I like The Chameleons, be realistic and don't talk shite.
@@thesound-chameleonman3580 Uhh, no. First off, it's the single version, not the "Script of the Bridge" version. Just listen to the muted strings intro and there's no "take a chance and join the dance" lyrics at the middle eight in this, the single, version. Secondly, he's not singing along, it is lip-synched! My god, you can't see and hear that?
Thanks for that info; I didn't realise! Possibly due to some musician union rules? I know the BBC and Top of the Pops got into silly situations with rerecording rules and live performances.
It was common back then probably for ease of production as you only had to have them in your studio once for filming and could have them record the audio anywhere. They kinda tried to make it seem live here while there were other bands like The Smiths who overacted ridiculously on purpose during filming to make it clear it's not live.
Да, очень грустно, что отсутствует референс на оригинал. AHAYCG написан раньше и очевидно Цой + команда слушали зарубежные пластинки, которые не могли слушать обычные советские работяги
This band never apoeared on national British television once which is disgraceful.
Absolutely
What a terrific band they were. Rip John Lever...
a lovely guy. sadly missed...
rip john always gave it 100 percent
*Are! They’re still touring and sounding amazing! I’ll see them next month for the first time 😢
@@LexCreepsUnfortunately most of the original line up is gone
@@9graff9 especially missing the magic of Dave Fielding
God I love this band from the time I discovered them in 1985 and now still at 54yrs old loving them just as much
Ditto to that exactly! Sophomore in HS discovering these guys.
What an amazing lyricist. The Chameleons and Joy Division are the best bands ever.
So true!!!
Mark Burgess.
Damm, the thumbnail of this video hits kinda hard
Great song. Script of the bridge is up there with the best albums ever made.
Yes, almost as good as Strange Times.
@@dankatz1080 🤣
beautiful british boys and their songs of glory
In 1982 God came down to Belgium
An extraordinary band..never getting tired of listening to them
Great live band, one of Manchester's most underrated.
The #1 most underrated band in thee world
nah
Dave Fielding recently signed my vinyl sleeve of Script of the bridge! What a great bloke and guitarist 🎸 he is.

@@scott7521 He's better now. Legendary guitarist.
I have Script of the bridge signed by Mark Burgess and Reg Smithies!
Bastard!
On reconnait bien dans ce morceau l' émotion très characteristique que dégagent les Chameleons, magnifique...
Beautiful song. Nothing else to say.
What a band
Pure Gold
My favorite song from the Chameleons
INCREÍBLE BANDA.
Absolutely AMAZING ❤❤
Filmed in March 1983
I'm in love...
Una joya de video.
La mémoire me revient, Nostalgia Perfect...
Awesome. Top band
We were all young once.
Merci.
You're welcome!

Seem to remember reading somewhere that he was left *footed*? Yes, they all play borrowed kit here. Easily my favourite post punk band.
Марк Берджесс здесь такой хорошенький 😍
А Джон Левер немного похож на Курта Смита, из Tears for Fears

Actually, the vocals are not lyp-synched!!
Yup thats a long horn, and i just answered my own question , Burns bass, Baldwin Organ imported them into the States back in the day...
@@steveladouceur7917 it's the Script of the bridge version playing and he is singing along to it.

I love this version, I found it superior to the studio version.
i think they´re not playing, i dont see any wire on the instruments, only on vocals, the drum has no mic´s on .... but i think its better tho...
@@67Zeloco67 You're right, this might been a playback on the instruments but with live vocals. Great version nonetheless.
I love any version of this song...I agree with you though this is by far the best one
Syncing to the original version that was released as a single before Script of the Bridge ua-cam.com/video/5ZgBFE4KWwM/v-deo.html
It is the studio version!
Strange how they made the bands re record the track and then have to mime to it without amps!

По итогу Цой на коне, а Chameleons UK недополучают популярность, которую они по-настоящему заслуживают
Is that a Burns bass Mark is playing?
Certainly is
Lip - syncing on both songs.
Up the down escalator
As high as you can go
I believe Dave Fielding isn't a fan of As high as you can go.
It has definitely grown on me over the years.
