Hello. I watched your video and you didn't mention any disadvantages with the volta. I have had one for less than two years and I have only used it a few times and the USB-C tip of the Volta broke. The male piece that goes inside the camera came out of the Volta cable. I was looking for a little information and I don't see any solutions, but there are many cases similar to mine on the internet. Do you know who repairs this? I am in the United Kingdom and I would like to fix it since I cannot use the Volta, which has cost me a bit expensive. As I mentioned, I've only used it a few times and I never thought that being an expensive product that looks robust that this would happen to me. Also the customer service is pretty terrible. Thanks for any help on this matter.
I just got a gopro 13 how did you get the media mod on the volta. I've been trying to get it on all afternoon and can't get it to work. I know this video is 2 years old so you might not have the answer, but it just doesn't seem to work.
oh that one. Ok 2 separate thing. 1. The Tripod attachment is a quick release by ulanzi but they might have discontinued it. 2. The micro tripod is by Joby and sort of discontinued as well other than this version with the phone mount: amzn.to/46ip9MV
hey FND, ok I took your question very seriously and did 2 tests with the GP11. i shot at 5k 60P both screens on - no battery inside only using the Volta grip. End result is that it still overheats at around 18 minute mark. With both screens turned off it overheat at around 22 minute mark. So to answer your question, no Volta cannot circumvent overheating issue. Main cause is the processor and internal components heating up, not so much the battery.
Can I use a USB-C splitter on the Hero 11 so I can simultaneously connect the Volta and an external microphone like the Rode Wireless Go2 or the DJI Mic? Thanks!
Unfortunately GoPro does not support USB mic... It's their way to upsell you on the media mod. For external audio you need to media mod then the 3mm audio jack.
Ive used the volta for a while now, and a lot of not used it, because its always empty and the cable is always stressing the usb-c cable either destroying the port or that the plug has start twisting and you cant just replace the cable on volta…
This exact issue you outlined made me question if I need to even use the media mod (I just kind of accepted that I 'should' use it since I already have it). After comparing the media mod mic vs the onboard mic I was surprised I kind of preferred the sound of the onboard mic? Needless to say, the media mod is no longer in use in my case. Alternatively, if you'd like to use the media mod but want to try to stress the cable less, I kind of accidentally found a little hacky DIY alternative using a "cold shoe post" I had laying around (though I see they're available on Amazon for cheap). Basically I mount it on the side, loop the volta cable up around it one time, and use the other large diameter thumbscrew to "pinch" the volta cable and hold it in place. Seems to stress the USB C connection a little less (in my opinion). Just need to be careful of twisting the volta orientation around from left to right as it gets tight in the one direction. So a UA-camr named Danny Black did a test by switching off the wind noise cancelling and the media mod's sound was noticeably better. I use the media mod for two reasons and both are for audio. I either use my wireless lav or I use a micro shotgun mic with a right angle adapter. Both yielded much better sound than the crappy shotgun mic on the mod. My slightly less hackey way is get a USBc to USBC cable extender
@@ToasterVentura I did have wind noise cancelling turned off already as I figured it was less necessary with the media mod I have as I have the clip on wind foam piece. Even still I just wasn't wow'd by the media mod mic... if anything I was wow'd by how good the onboard was. Even still I ordered a foam wrap to go around the GoPro to use with the built in mic as I anticipate running into wind in the future with my new GP with the family bike rides we do. We'll see how effective that idea is, but it was cheap enough I couldn't resist not trying it. :D I too tried a USB C cable extender, but even still I went back to my silly DIY cold shoe post idea above for a hot second until I compared mics more and decided I just didn't need the media mod. I guess in the end I didn't feel the media mod mic was worth the added USB C port stress even with the DIY cable-pinch hack I mentioned. Just my 2c though. Even still, it was a bit of a facepalm that GoPro didn't come up with a better idea here, particularly given they sell these creator bundles with these parts included. Not like this was an accident...
yeah all very good points you just made. Funny thing is I mentioned the short pig tail cable problem on my Telesin Rechargable Selfie Stick as well. Same design flaw with short cable... I like the idea of the foam wind noise reducer and I have heard good things about it. Let me know how you like it and I will pick one up too! Also PS genius on your hack, I like it!
@@jasonsauders83 Thats clever, but will limit the cable a bit tho. What I thought about was getting some "USB-C Angle Adapter" or a short extra cable like this: www.usbfever.com/image/cache/catalog/USB%20Adapters/006673-1-228x228.jpg m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71pDgDhoSWL._AC_SL1500_.jpg
Where did you find the fact that the non-removable charging cable should be put into the input charging port? In the user manual is not mentioned anything about this. Are you sure it's safe to do that?
It charges the via the media mod, but the remote will not work via the USB cable. Only Bluetooth function of the remote will work. If you plug the Volta directly into the gopro (no media mod) the remote will work without bluetooth pairing. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the review. Very helpful tips. I just bought the GoPro 12 creator edition. With the Volta in it.
Correction - the Volta does work with the media mod. The creator package comes with media mod & Volta. Great informative video
It works but not with direct wired remote. Only via Bluetooth remote at least in my testing.
Great review👍
Try using KT athletic tape to stick the lanyard mount to your chest for a very stable mount. Works great!
Oh genius I got some will try it out. I guess gaf tape will work too
Awesome video u got a new subscriber!!! You also touched on the green screen of death thank. I will try that
Thanks! Did you get green screen too?
@@ToasterVentura yes I did and GoPro knows about it

Great review. 😀 What is the length of battery time you are getting?
I think I get about 2.5 full charge for the GoPro 11. It’s been a minute since I used it so I could be wrong
Crushed it on this one!
Thanks brother hope it helped you make a decision man
Link to the backpack clip you had on the Volta? Just got my Hero 10 Black Crestor Edition a few days ago. 😀
So there are many versions out there but I like Peak Design clips. Reason is that you can also use the baseplate wjtb arcaswiss tripod heads too!
hi! can you provide the name of the extension grip that you put it on avolta grip and where to buy please? thank you

It’s the same. Media mod design didn’t change and it will fit on there! The cable is just very tight
Great review, Thanks! Do you have a link for the Ulanzi quick connect you used (That has the legs that come out)? I can't find it anywhere.
Yeah dude I can't find it on amazon anymore. The closest thing i see is this one by SUREWO which is pretty much identical.

Can charging from Volta without the battery inside the gopro solve the problem of the gopro shutting down due to overheating?

I have this, so no battery worries, but my "11" can't go more than 12 minutes before it shuts down for overheating...
Wow I tested at 5k 60 at 70 degrees ran about 20 min before overheat

I buy too much stuff... It's the truth
This thing is amazing

It does say that in the manual. I think in a picture somewhere and yea I have tested it and it works fine.

I've come to the conclusion that go pro makes non working junk! Everything has a problem, Mod doesn't work, Volta is junk!
I have moved on to insta360 ace pro and Dji action 4. I still have my hero 10 but it just sits there now
