Time flies… now you’re an academic attending, congrats on your journey and achievements :) Could you let me know what the numbers on the right column on your final ROL?
Really liked the intro sequence :) This is definitely one of my favorite videos from you - seeing your thought process organizing your own rank list was so helpful as I am putting together mine!
Haha I just made the switch to Adobe Premiere Pro and there's just so many more tools here! I'm still a huge beginner, just found some nice templates :P Hopefully I can keep getting better at edits though and thanks for your nice comment :D
The ranking scores on the right of the rank list were scores from r/medicalschool votes! And some guy posted an Excel sheet with a way to calculate your programs based on various factors (imgur.com/a/C48v3El) which I played around with, but ultimately it came down to just me cutting a bunch of pieces of paper with each program listed on it and rearranging them until the order they were in felt right :)
@@ConanLiuMD thanks! i kinda wanted to steal the idea for which city i wanna relocate to (unrelated to medicine) but can't decide out of the ~10 or so cities on my shortlist
@@sentralorigin haha oh dang that will be a lot of options but should be fun comparing those cities to each other! Yeah try and make like 5-6 different categories so you can compare them as objectively as possible against each other!
I think that could definitely be a good reason! I wasn't super big on research. I also think being from California and applying less broadly outside of California are big factors. Also possible that I didn't have the strongest letters of rec despite my good evaluations - most of the people I asked to write my letters weren't people I actually knew that well haha
My intern class is 32 residents and the whole program is close to 100 residents, so actually on the fairly large size. In retrospect I think if I were able to choose an ideal size I think I would prefer something more like 10-20 residents per intern class instead!

Not sure why I'm watching since I'm still a premed undergrad, but holy moly your editing and intro are 🔥 now!

Thank you for this video! I'm applying to ophthalmology and this was helpful for me as well 😊
Good luck in the match!!! You got this :)
Extremely helpful. Thank you!
Great information properly and clearly disseminated
what metrics/formulas did you use to come up with your ranking scores?

I’m surprised you didn’t get more top 20 invites, maybe because of the bigger focus on research?

With size do u mean all the residents or just the intern class?....
