    I worked as a chef for over 20-years. (Gladly out of it.)
    And while I can tell you this is somewhat overwrought--their scooping of the sorbet is a giveaway--the number of courses and what's given is more than fair.
    I highly recommend everyone try and go for one of these experiences at least once in their life, just to get to see what it's about.
    Altogether it looks like it costs about $400 - $500 per person, but the experience will impress you far more than a trip to Disney, and the memory will last a lot longer than a couple of pairs of Nikes.
    The ingredients, the care, the preparation, and even the ambiance. All worth a lot more, in terms of impact, than an actual gimmick--like a gold-wrapped steak or something.

    • @TURTLEORIGINAL
      @TURTLEORIGINAL 2 роки тому +17

      I truly appreciate and respect what your saying, but I could not appreciate this, like some people. In my 51 years, I've done several, (above my pay grade), splurges, and I was often left underwhelmed after the experience. However, if I had Jeff Bezos', or Elon Musks' money, I'd absolutely love, to travel the world, and attempt to eat at every 3 Michelin star restaurant!

    • @BOBMAN1980
      @BOBMAN1980 2 роки тому +12

      @@TURTLEORIGINAL That's why I used the word "once" in terms of trying the thing--and talked of it as more of as an experience, rather than a lifestyle.
      Even if it ends up being unclimactic and underwhelming, the person doing this may learn something about overhype and 'pretense'. . . if they don't also learn a couple of things about the kind of QC, skillset, and even ambiance that distinguishes a haute setting apart from Applebee's or Waffle House. (Both, btw, are places I like to go to.)
      There are insights that can be gained by going far off one's own beaten path. And, really, if it were that 'easy' to run such an operation, every culinary school dropout and Denny's cook--which I once was--would open their own doors and become an 'instant millionaire'.

    • @BOBMAN1980
      @BOBMAN1980 2 роки тому +6

      Dude. Some high class Restaurants have chicken Nuggets.. or what the chef imagines Chicken Nuggets to be. One Restaurant i had as a client had some on the menu for 98$ for a serving of 12 Nuggets with 6 Sauces. Each nugget was a different breed of Chicken marinated in many different ways. each batter was a different kind with different spices and the sauces paired perfectly with 2 of them (yes i ate them because i was curios and the owner gave me 1 free meal a week as part of my payment). Best damn chicken i ever had in all honesty. Sure the prices are out of this world and the presentation is pretentious as heck but once a year i could go for some high class dining just for the experience. But i still prefer a box of normal nuggets with some curry-, hot- or sweet n sour sauce :D
      Edit: the nuggets also where alot bigger then the ones you can but at most fast food restaurants or in bags at the grocerie store..

    As a person who has diner at the Louis XV, there are several misconceptions here.
    1. The Louis XV is not the most exclusive restaurant in the world. It is certainly very exclusive, but there are a handful of restaurants in Paris alone that are just as exclusive.
    2. The portions at Michelin 3 star restaurants are indeed small, but given the number of courses, a meal at those restaurants should satiate most appetites.
    3. A meal at a 3 star restaurant is indeed expensive, but considering the quality of the meal and service, perfectly justified.
    That being said, a word of caution with regards to Louis XV specifically. They charge €100 per person for a reservation, and their reimbursement policy, should you cancel, is questionable. I made a reservation last summer, but I had to cancel it due to COVID. Their policy is a full refund of the reservation fee, but in practice, the Louis XV makes it virtually impossible to provide them with the necessary documents to process the refund. That is unique to them. All other three star restaurants I have dined at had a much more straightforward refund policy. So if you are going to make a reservation at the Louis XV, you better be certain about attending

      Actually does serve a purpose.
      It makes only a small difference but if you're very picky and have a discriminating palette you will notice the difference between an item that is submerged in sauce for a long time and one that just has the sauce poured on it.
      The flavor is different and the texture might be different. Serving table side allows the chef to have more control over the experience the diner has.

    For all the people who look at these dishes and say, "I could never get full eating at a place like this": In regular restaurants, you can usually expect a three-course meal of big portion sizes (appetizer, entree, dessert), not including bread. But in my experience eating at a bunch of fancy places like this, even though the portions are smaller, there are more courses. A typical place like this will usually serve you anywhere between 4-6 courses not including bread, so by the end of it, yes, you can expect to be quite full. Just because the plates aren't piled high doesn't mean you're getting ripped off.

      Restaurants like this have a tasting menu. Basically every single day chefs prepare a set amount of meals. Usually about 12 courses. It varies by day, but customers cannot order what they want. They go in and pay a fixed price and are served what the chefs made that day. This is called fixed price menus. Most of the restaurants in the world are a la carte menus. Which means they have dishes on menus that customers order.

      @@chrischin_94 I am a chef de rang which is a job with responsabilities already, even though I am young with "only" 5 years of experience in the luxury catering industry (three in a 1 Michelin Star restaurant and 2 in the 2 Michelin Stars restaurant) and it is my first year after apprenticeship, my first "real" job. I make every month 2300 euros without tips. France is a high taxes country (with all the advantages it provides, top tier social security, etc...) so I have 1800 euros of final salary after taxes with an average of 250 euros of tips/month. 2000 to 2100 euros is the money I make per month.
      Tips are way lower in France because the service is included in menu prices and we divide the tips will all the team (from the housekeepers to the gardener....).
      The salary is different from towns to towns (for exemple Paris is extremely expensive so you will earn more). I work in a peaceful environment in the forest, small town with beautiful landscapes, 60km from the nearest huge city.
      Villa René Lalique, go check it out if you have the curiosity, it is an absolute stunning place. One of the best wine cellars in Europe (60 000 bottles), the most expensive is sold 28000 euros on the menu...
      You may know Lalique cristal ? It is a luxury cristal brand internationaly famous. The factory is in the same city and we have all the decoration around Lalique cristal and features, absolutly incredible !
      Elite Life have a video on the restaurant if you want

      That's where society is going... This is now luxury. Being served natural good food. Sadly all food people eat mostly is processed garbage. Hundred years from now piece of meat will be luxury at this rate.
