This will only work if you plan on painting color-match either by blending it in or doing the whole panel. Planning on doing my truck’s interior & I definitely can see a color & or texture difference once the panel is scuffed up.
seems straight forward, will try it on a non visible area first as it's a new car.
Those sponges are basically sand paper.
Use very lightly and at your own risk.
I use a piece of colour vinyl and apply it there for years, it prevent boot marks.
Black colour restorer or shoe polish does the trick .
You sure a black color restorer will fix this ?
Excellent. Great tip. Will try that. Thankyou.
Learned the hard way that this is not the way.. you can seriously ruin and fade the interior surfaces of your car like this. Highly advise no one does this.
What happened when you tried it?
@@katyb2793 it will make the area hazy and lightened. It will be very noticeable and in some cases not even some interior shine will blend it. Definitely not something to use on plastic. If you do use it on leather he VERY gentle. You’d always be better off using just a microfiber towel, if you can’t hide the scratches with some interior shine, perhaps consider using a heat gun carefully and heat up the plastic, making sure not to touch or smear it until it is cooled.
@@brevenlangley5726 I see, thanks so much for such a detailed response! It's really helpful :) mine is really super scratched unfortunately, so I don't think it could look much worse. But it sounds like a heat gun is definitely the better way to go. Thanks so much!
Same here severely damaged it even more
Sooooo, what would you recommend?
Thank you in advance!
After reading the comments: So maybe do a TWO STEP - Magic Eraser gentle abrasion and then top off with the superior Trim Serum by Lithium - found on Amazon - worth trying
Magic ! Thanks.
how about the material right above that?? what removes those scratches?
Thank you. 👍😁
The "sponge" is made from melamine foam.
I personally would not use that type of abrasive foam on interior or exterior plastic trims. As you have demonstrated, it has removed the large scuffs but you have now micro scuffed the entire interior lower door trim. To the eye it is now seriously marred. I enjoy your videos but to yourself and others; don't do this to your car.
Well do you have a better idea??
@@gerardgonzales5321 I have alternatives that don't introduce micro marring, yes.
Bowden's Own have a good write up on an alternative method.

Well Ian, what do you suggest?
@@02nooner see above comment made.
@@gerardgonzales5321 Some light heat gunning after cleaning.
Nothing can clear these kind of scuffs on plastic . Not even using a heat gun which will make it disappear but will leave an oil shine different colour to the rest of the trim . If your car is new get a new plastic trim or If you worried like me when car from new cover those areas with clear paint protection film . They are in different sizes in Amazon .
Well done!
what did you put on that cloth ?other then water
I need to try this on scuffs on back of drivers seat. Thanks.
DONt use magic eraser as they too abrasive
Do this instead
1. Get a spray bottle fill with water and dawn dish washing soap (little squirts)
2.get detailing brush to apply then wipe off with microfabric towel(clean)
3. Spray with protectant like meguiars etc…
Wow Thanks !
good one!
Its on youtube , must be the correct procedure 😂
So, sand the plastic? 😂😂😂
quick and to the point, thank you
I did this and it didn't work in my car.
So this is don by magic
Better use a wet microfiber cloth and then dry one and after that use a polish with a again microfiber cloth...thank me later...
Which car is this
This was a Hyundai i30
Did the door panel changed color because of the sponge? Does it leaves any visible marks ?
The door panel didn’t change colour. There was some micro scratches if you really looked, the sponge was black. However I’m looking into a different way to get these out
@@itsinthedetail4843 can you let us know here when you do find a way?
That's fake vedio 😅😅😅
It didn’t work on my car. 😞
try with a heat gun...
Nothing a lil interior plastic treatment wont fix the slight marring 😎👍
Can you elaborate?
When using something like a magic eraser on a plastic surface you are ultimately leveling that surface through abrasion therefore leaving the surface dry and pourus a follow up step should be done in the form of a proctectant such as 303 aerospace proctectant @@AmorFati777X
@@AmorFati777X when using the method shown in the video one must be aware that the surface is being leveled through abrasion leaving the plastic surface dry and pourus therefore a plastic treatment product such as 303 aerospace proctectant should be applied as an additional step in the process.
@@matthewsandison9695 thanks for the quick reply
Don't ever use magic erasers on anything that you don't want to scratch. It's hysterical that the person who made this video has a whole page dedicated towards car detailing but obviously knows absolutely Jack shit about it.😂😂😂😂😂😂
There aint nothing wrong with no scuff marks.
get some shoe polish..
This doesn’t work at all. 🤦🏻♂️
WRONG! This WILL damage your side door!!!!!!! Speaking from experience.
This ruined my panel. Do not do.
Are you serious
