Greetings Apostle Gideon. Praying for more grace for you on this new project. I would like to ask you a question, as a theologian, how would you respond to the controversy about Christmas being a pagan holiday. I do not celebrate Christmas however I would like to hear your views on the origin of Christmas, why pagans celebrate Christmas even more than Christians. Where did the 25th of December originate from knowing that Jesus wasn't born on that day..I would really love to hear your views. In the western world where I live, the celebration of Christmas is so over commercialised by pagans that sometimes I wonder if it's actually a Christian holiday as people claim. The same people who decorate their houses with strange demonic stuff during Halloween, would immediately switch over to Christmas decorations.
Sir what is your take on the belief that Christmas celebration origin was a pagan practice, that Christians should have nothing to do with it? By the way, I'm your ardent follower for a few years now. I believe everything you say and I bless God for bringing you my way in providing clarity to that which are most assuredly believed amongst us. God bless you!
My only question is why should Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas day which is a pagan holiday, and be swallowed in their practices and partake in their rituals? I think a great way to remember the Lord is in prayer, doctrine and breaking of bread with the saints of God. Apostle Gideon, can you please address this?
"...and be swallowed up in their practices and partake in their rituals..." This is not the Christmas spirit, nor is it the way Christians celebrate the season. Wherever Christmas is being celebrated in such a manner, that's obviously paganism. Meanwhile, I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with Christians worldwide choosing to celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas day (whether it coincides with a pagan holiday or not). Moreover, whether anyone celebrates it as a special day or not, it doesn't matter. One person chooses to observe days and seasons-unto God; and another chooses not to. In either case, it's unto God.
Any holiday or ceremony in the Christian faith can be celebrated wrongly. The real question to ask genuinely is: Is Christmas Day (December 25) inherently a pagan holiday? And what are the relevant questions surrounding it?
#Edification Requires Intelligibility." (Mark Ward quote) Self-Prayer (Prayer in the Spirit): Romans 8:26 If, through prayer, I gain stamina, strength, or boldness, there's a name for this - probably called elevation (elevation of faith or elevation of courage to do mighty things) - but it's not edification. Edification requires understanding on my part. On the other hand, if praying brings holy insight, imparting instruction or understanding about something into my heart - whether immediately or later - then it can be truly called edification.

Your question presupposes that Christmas Day is a pagan day. You could have asked the question from a neutral position.
