Just to be clear: I only looked at the original designed of the guns used in this video. Not at the modifcations that were later made. For example, the M60E4 was designed in the 1990's but the original M60 was designed in 1952, so I just went with the year the original gun was designed in (except for the M1911A1 for some reason lol)

I’d also like to mention that in BF4 the SKS is the oldest class weapon, having served in WW2. The modernized SKS is not a variant but rather the same exact rifle, just more economically friendly resources from what I can find. In the entire game I’m pretty sure the oldest is the M2 Browning other than the Colt 1911.

The M60 family of machine guns was produced from 1957 to present the later models the E3 and E4 were made in the late 90s but yeah it is the oldest gun. I do like how they did add prototype weapons in the game which is nice.

It's based on a movie prop from the 1970s, and it's made from two Beretta M38A SMGs, an MG42 pistol grip and trigger group, and a Bren foregrip. Important thing to note, the martini Henri was designed in 1870 but was inferior to all guns of WW1 they are black powder, white powder was invented in 1886 and using white powder in a martini is not safe. All of these 1870 guns are black powder including the model 30 drilling bullet not the shotgun shells. Most black powder guns can't take the pressures of white powder. For example the gasser with its open frame style can't take anything loaded with white powder and large calibers. 1870 is a strange time in the gun making age because the models that did not carry on like falling blocks, open frame revolvers and derringer type pistoles like the howda were models that failed when they would use white powder. Usually for mechanical reasons but basically the frames or lock mechanisms of the guns chambers could not take the pressures of smokeless or white powder. The howda, gasser, martini are all examples of guns that did not pass the test and had to be heavily modified, or like the NO3 revolver or winchester lever action used by the Russians were modified to take the pressures of smokeless powder. Some guns made it others did not. For breach guns the rolling block was the preferred and more solid breach over the others. For revolvers the Colts single action .45 army was the preferred closed frame style, like the negant revolver for example with a full frame. Lever actions had to be modified so the lever was not the only thing keeping the bolt closed. A good example of what guns in the 1870's looked like was the french Chasspot rifles, they were first needle fire/paper bullet guns, basically the first bolt action rifle is the Chasspot, single shot bolt action, it was later converted and called the Grass rifle, a black powder center fire, brass casing bullet gun. After this they were converted to white powder where they had to reinforce the bolt and lock for the bolt so it would not shoot out the back of the gun and hit the shooter in the cheek. Smokeless as much more pressure, back in the day guns were heavy lead mass travelling at fairly "slow" speeds compared to today's small bullets traveling at subsonic speeds.
