I actually enjoyed it. I get the internet pile on given it’s not Joker 2. It’s its own thing. But I think a lot of the antagonism is due to folk’s wants and expectations. If anything, Joker was more derivative of its influences. Personally, I don’t care about any Batman links or lack thereof. It did need to be shorter but that’s true of many movies…eg The Batman. The final scene aspect, for me, is irrelevant. The Glasgow smile is not limited to an insane man in a mental hospital.
It's better to watch the movie as a whole and not leave theatre. It's kind of childish. I think this movie has flaws, but it doesn't deserve this level of hate. It's actually unique and interesting. I'm okay with Todd calling movie Joker. This version has a right to exist. I love the realistic and cruel interpretation. And we all have different perspective. And it's alright.
