  • Holiday Run Down:
Cost of hotel and flights were dirt cheap. £81 for 3 nights for 2 people. Flights were £143.78 for both of us!
Uber from train station to hotel near the centre was about £5-7. I wouldn’t even bother with the train. We bought train tickets for like £2 and then realised we had an hour wait. Taxis were right outside.
You can use Monzo with no extra charges. Automatically converts the currency.
If you do get cash out. It was advised not to go to the currency exchange in the airport. Around 0.2 lower than the standard rate. Less for your money.
Hotel Logos in the centre of krakow. Newly refurbished hotel. Absolutely lovely and the restaurant area was spot on. Nice chilled music, decorations, candles and a great food spread.

Loads of food choices round the hotel.
First evening we went to a little food van market area round the corner where they had a heated middle area serving drinks and you just went to the van you wanted to order. Pizza, Indian, burgers, thai.

For a meal and a soft drink it cost us like £6 each. cheap and really good food.
    2nd day (first full day)
£7 buffet breakfast. Loads of choice, amazing spread of local food.
Salt mines we pre booked. Pick up from the hotel. Around 2.5 hours long. 3km distance and 800 steps. Lift on the way back up.
Went for a walk around rynek glowny square. Some markets, shops and Christmas decorations dotted around the place.

Went to Wawel Royal castle for a look around. Huge castle. Had a drink In the roof top bar over looking the castle next to the Vistula river whilst the sun was setting.
    3rd day (Aushwitz)
Early wake up at around 5.30/6.
30 minute walk to the bus station.
    1hr bus journey.
TAKE PLENTY OF LAYERS! Hat, gloves and boots!
the journey to and from Aushwitz wasn’t great. It dropped us off 15 minutes away from the main car park and the driver didn’t direct anyone. The way back we returned to the same location and nearly went to get the train as it was late and didn’t show up for the previous pick up time.
If you can get picked up from your hotel, do that to save you messing around.
    4th day
Walked round the Jewish district and viewed some of the old buildings, churches and history. Ate at Hamsa (hummus/Middle Eastern style food).
went back to Waral castle to have another look around. History goes that a dragon used to live in a cave under the castle where you can see the statue that breathes fire every 10 minutes near the river side of the castle.
finished off walking back into the old town area where we came across a nice cafe. If you’re into your different coffees and you’ve got a sweet tooth for cakes then this is the place for you. Big cheese cakes to choose from, waffles, pancakes, herbal teas & large selection of different coffee styles.
