Well that R3D RAW license talk was such marketing speech. RED is sueing competitors left and right with zero interest of moving the whole industry forward. A huge draw to the RED system is that specific codec with them realizing that if they forfeit that advantage, they are pretty much done for. I am glad they are moving into global shutters as a USP, but still. The whole camera industry really dislikes them because of that patent and again, within their right, they are holding everyone back.
Sure they are licencing on the highest level (e.g. Venice), but image a world where every Canon, Sony or other brand would have a similar codec. Would you really pick up a Komodo if you didn't need a global shutter?
Years ago I sent my broken Red One in for service. 3 weeks later Red returned the camera to me, still broken. They never bothered to service the camera. Bought an Alexa the next day. True story.
truth
@@williamsolis1 I doubt it. Company's don't service old cameras.
@@contentm3893 genius logic . You should work for customer service
Bullshit. Unless you’re absolutely horrible at communicating your problems and needs. I owned several Red Ones, Epics, Heliums, Geminis, etc and NEVER once had a poor customer service issue with RED but know it can happen but I seriously doubt you’re telling the whole story.
@@UA-cam_can_ESAD One thing I don't miss about RED are their fanboyz and their undying loyalty as if a camera was some sort of cult. Have a nice day.
This episode was filmed before Red was sold, thanks for the heads up not!!!
Love this man !!
no brand yet can beat arri cameras !
You damn right!
Red will never be as good as Arri.
You damn right arri is for creating masterpieces. Red looks like for wannabe filmmakers.
Whatever happened to the Red phone? Speaking about announcing before the product is ready
Arri > Red
Hitler’s favorite camera company, their infamous propaganda films would not have happened without them. Good job. 👍🏽
@@UA-cam_can_ESAD You triggered bro?
No mention of how Nikon acquisition will affect things moving forward?
this episode was filmed before that happened.
@@CreativeFamAcademy That’s what I was wondering. Thanks! Would have been great to hear about that if timing had aligned better
Will the focus shift to Nikkor lenses in the future away from Canon?
According to Nikon that's not the plan, at least for now. That being said, the Z mount can basically be adapted to any lens on the market so it wouldn't be a net negative I feel.
@@Owlbot I am curious what the future holds.
They will have both mounts available in the future at the point of purchase, Canon RF mount isn’t going anywhere.
