Glow is an illuminating choreographic essay by Artistic Director Gideon Obarzanek and interactive software creator Frieder Weiss.
Beneath the glow of a sophisticated video tracking system, a lone organic being mutates in and out of human form into unfamiliar, sensual and grotesque creature states.
Utilising the latest in interactive video technologies a digital landscape is generated in real time in response to the dancer's movement. The body's gestures are extended by and in turn manipulate the video world that surrounds it, rendering no two performances exactly the same

I know I'm probably gonna sound like an uncultured swine but.... wtf.
I love dance, dance is my life! But after my dance teacher asked me to watch this, I'm kinda concerned. The name already made me suspicious but now I'm just questioning what I got myself into.

Hey, dance ain’t always so mainstream and straightforward and that’s a good thing to learn earlier on otherwise you don’t gain the ability to analyse and understand more diverse dance works.
Unlike alot of dance we see in mainstream media, this isn't just about the movement. It's also about the lighting and the crossing of media. It's not just performing art but also visual. It probably wouldn't be as interesting to watch if she was doing a bunch of ballet moves because the visuals come on the floor.

The lighting system was designed by German ex-Bosch engineer Frieder Weiss. It's called Kalypso but as of time of writing it hasn't been released publicly yet. I don't know the name of the track but it's by Iceland-based musician Ben Frost.

The dancer in the video is Sara Black and the name of the piece is 'GLOW' and it's by Gideon Obarzanek (Chunky Move)
