- June 27th 2022 marks the 50th Anniversary of Atari. To commemorate the golden anniversary, Atari founder, Nolan Bushnell, sits down with Wade Rosen to talk about Atari's enormous cultural impact and its enduring legacy to gaming.
My left ear really enjoyed this.
Switch the headphones or find a new CEO
My left ear enjoyed that
You only got one ear ?
@@OneXOneEquals2 ye
Yeah, that was odd with the balance.
@@OneXOneEquals2 obviously not listening to this with stereo headphones or stereo speakers of the sort-whoever did the sound mixing for this is an amateur
lol :D
Love Atari! Still changing the flex circuits in my 5200 controllers every week. Just wish this interview's audio wasn't in left ear mono.
Have you tried the gold-plated flex circuits from Best Electronics for your 5200 controllers? They supposedly last forever. :)
This dude is a legend. He seems like such an awesome genuine dude that you could have a beer and talk to all day and never have a full moment.
Got my first Atari Christmas of 78 and still gaming to this day via PS4
No Atari VCS? Shame…
@@MicklowFilms No ps5 shame
@@arw2008 Overrated garbage and no games... Atari gave your PS5 life.
@@MicklowFilms If it wasn't for the Atari Nintendo,Playstation,Xbox never would've been made
Nolan is a freaking legend.
Happy 50th Anniversary to Atari!
audio isn't balanced btw it's mainly in the left audio channel
Happy 50th anniversary from Poland!
Loved this , Atari was awesome in the day .
Still play my Atari Consoles today the Atari Computer , Lynx and Jaguar 👌👌
Great Interview!
Were im from just to let you know how much of impact this company has.
Almost no one uses the word playing video games or gaming
Everyone simply say (ATARI)
So... in Gotham City?
@@thenostalgiabusiness nah its even better its called Kurdistan baby.
Who was the sound mixer, Vincent van Gogh?
Megalols!!!
Loved the video. Going to call my doctor since my RIGHT EAR STOPPED WORKING
That Nolan was denied a lifetime achievement award because some uninformed individuals thought it better to send a "signal" is a terrible injustice.
great video! it's like a grandfather talking to his grandson
My great grand dad almost failed him out of an electrical engineering course at his university. Something along the lines of who cares about video games when the guy submitted his prototype Atari.
Your great grand dad was Nolan Bushnell's electrical engineering professor at the University of Utah? Or are you just making things up?
@@TheJeremyHolloway clearly making it up!
Nolan Bushnell is a legend!!!!!!!!!!!
The system which started it all.
It was actually the Magnavox Odyssey but ok sure
And almost killed the industry entirely.
@@NoExplosionsMcgee Atari was in more homes, but okay smart guy.
@@freddyvidz Not really sure what "Was more homes" is even supposed to mean but ok whatever. Doesn't change the fact that the Magnavox Odyssey was historically the first home commercial video game console that predates the Atari 2600 by five years.
@@NoExplosionsMcgee Okay, you win…
Why during the interview, the audio only comes in on the left side?
The Atari 50th logo audio at 0:07 has stereo audio.
It was recorded using iPhone? :D
Can't wait to buy this on The OTC markets.
What is with the audio mix on this? All the sound is left channel only, other than the chime at the start.
The real William afton
So what exactly is Atari SA planning then? Because two guys talking about what fantastic hardware developers and marketing geniuses they both are amounts to nothing but padding after board room speak without physical products to go along with it.
Do people realize Bushnell was out of Atari BEFORE the 2600 came out? And he went on to start Chucky Cheese Pizza, as he was way into animatronics
no quite but yeah he was out very early on - a little more than a year after it's release
He was there for the development of it
In the time we play just a few minutes before bed or at noon.
Have You Played Your Atari Today?
Audio is only playing on my left ear SMH
Omg, I'm getting old 🤭✌️
Getting? Lol
The first thing Atari needs to do with their 50th Anniversary "cash" is to buy a right side microphone! Us weirdoes who love to hear audio in BOTH ears will thank you.
Shout out to the owner of Atari… Soulja Boi!
Why the audio mess up
The grandfather of electronic gaming, Nolan Bushnell, the inventor of Pong. We have him and John Romero to thank for video games. If it wasn't for John Romero giving out the code and dev tools for DOOM to everyone, those people wouldn't have been able to mod DOOM and first person games wouldn't have existed. Just wonderful how ideas start.
having been introduced to the product name at age 9ish, "Atari" just doesnt sound like a foreign name to me.
Fix the sound and re-upload. Thanks.
Seriously though why is the audio so low?
Hey.. no sound on the right side of headphones
why is the audio only left channel?
Their stock is under 50 cent
10 Cent
@@CAFliege hmmm not really.. you can buy it at 50 cent and sell it at 39 cent..
What ahppen6to atari console which suppose to get release 🤔
What's going on with this mono sound even in the 80s they have stereo 🙃
Ninja theory video games are cool
HELL YEAH
Why is this 16?
The hockey game is better than the current ones which is meaningless idolatry, and River Raid, Air Raid, PAC Man, Skiing, Enduro and Keystone Kasper were my favorites too bad it was impossible. Asteroids, Pitfall, Donkey Kong, Space Invader, Frogger were average.
Atari wasn’t first❤
Worst Audio EVER!
why is the audio only from the right channel?
because Atari was made in MONO
Mines only through the left
So quiet
When videogames were fun and not a "scape" for incels from 4chan
sadly your not entirely wrong
@N videogames indeed are, the biggest fashion maker besides marvel movies now. And the biggest sexualisation extremist for girls, masked as something called costplay(girls dress up like prostitutes) part of the population incubatory process.
@N That is the problem.
The interview remind me of Hunger Games interviews 😂😂 so fake...!!!
Too bad they ruined their great company (e.g. the RCT series)
Sup
Just let this name die already, their marketing team is honestly terrible
What a pile of marketing nonsense.
Atari started something great then descended into unthinking greed as they realised that nobody in business cared what they made.
They fell from grace HARD and shot the industry to the core for some years after.
They have never risen to any meaningful level of relevance since... nostalgia is all they have going for them and, as you see here, new blood rides the coattails of its legacy that many have almost forgotten... if they ever even knew what it TRULY was.
Show some respect for Nolan Bushnell. There wouldn't be a video game industry today without the efforts of him, Ted Dabney, and Al Alcorn. It certainly wouldn't have spawned from the dud that was the Magnavox Odyssey.
Bushnell had left the corp even before the 2600 came out. He really didnt have much to do with the Atari most people think of. He founded the company and was in it during the coin op days, but all the hope gaming and computers had nothing to do with him. He was busy starting Chucky Cheese. Seems weird to interview him and act like he is the face of Atari
There was a time when Nintendo had no meaningful relevance either. You are just a jealous loser. Just shut up already. Atari literally birthed the gaming industry that we have today. They still deserve some recognition.
You simplify the topic very much. :( As usual in life, it's not as easy as it seems.
Above all, Atari has become the starting point for many other companies and projects. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs worked at Atari, some of the largest video game companies were born thanks to the people who left Atari and started these companies. Without the developers of the Atari BCS / 2600, and then the Atari 400/800 and the XL series ... there would be no Commodore Amiga! Moreover, without Atari, you wouldn't be using USB today (as the USB creator himself admitted, it is the successor of the Atari SIO project). So it is not the most important what the company itself has achieved as a creator and supplier of products, the most important are the ideas that arose at Atari and changed our world, not necessarily under the original banner. Atari is simply a piece of modern technology history and therefore deserves respect.
@@TheJeremyHolloway it is all marketing their fault for selling their name out too a shitty kickstarter company
*Atari VCS:* I'm about to end this company's whole career. Again...
LMAO! Yea sure whatever troll
