In my Saka campaign I migrated in the Crimean-Moldavian zone and established a kingdom there by assimilating the other Scythic tribes and a couple celtic/getic cities. I also conquered Crimea due to the Bosphorans declaring war on me.
The sheer size of Seleucids really gives you options;, like you don't have to fight all the Anatolians, you can strategically withdraw, selling off settlements, destroying buildings and letting them rebel, shrinking down armies, I actually ended up with a split empire after a few turns, the smaller half just centered around Sardis having sold or let rebel anything west of Antioch and north of Pergamon.
@@Red_Zed I just wish the rebel AI would (slowly) build up settlements too. Like Pergamon had done a great job for me building up the cities I sold them initially when I took them back. With the rebelled settlements in the east, it feels stupid that I'm now reconquering towns with hardly any buildings and have to start from scratch.
Ye fair enough bro, I think they do that tho so it’s more of a challenge because otherwise late game you’d just be conquering huge cities and you’d snowball like crazy :)
"Athens... another note on Athens" - this is like every other ancient author or modern historian on Greek antiquity, they can never stop talking about Athens haha
@@Red_Zed Haha I presume that must be true! I enjoyed the video, and having played the Beta before, I mostly agree! Keep up the good work RedZed and of course RIS!
Thanks bro, ye I guess it must be true 😂😂😂 Thanks for watching bro I really appreciate it, have a go at making your own and submit it to RIS DD discussion channel on the discord if you want 😁
Hey, bought the remastered just for the mod after I saw the map size. But it feels so much like a remaster of the old Europa Barbarorum mod - which I loved. Are there any connections ?
So this mod was put together by the merging of the Roma Surrectum and Rome Total Realism teams from Rome TW but yes there are some other modders from Europa Barbarorum (most notably Lusitanio) and other mods 😊
The best Greek faction in actual Greece is probably the Aitolians, Epirus is also really fun but a bit harder I’d say. Antigonids would also be a fantastically fun campaign and definitely the strongest faction in mainland Greece! If you don’t like skirmisher rosters like me, which the Aitolians have, play as the Achaeans they have a fantastic roster and are slap bang in the middle of the action 😊
That was so good. Question, are you able to have an emerging faction called greek city states? Cause having conquered greek xity states and have them called athens in the map doesn't look nice.
Thanks man! I’m glad you enjoyed 😊 Do you mean when a faction revolts? Because already the GCS exists and I think the engine doesn’t allow a faction to re-emerge once they’re dead unfortunately bro :)
@@Red_Zed Thanks for the reply! That's good they exist as a faction. I mean a system that will rename my faction to GCS when I unite all the Greek cities. I played another mod and it was awkward as I conquered all of ancient Greece, and then seeing on the map "Athens" plastered all over was a bit awkward. For RP reasons I wanted to feel like I united the Greeks rather than conquered them. Now I want to do it with the Aitolian league, but Aitolia is a very strict geographic term and as I will expand it, it will be a Greek league.
No worries man! For me I find it fine as you’d be an Athenian empire with the capital in Athens. But I do get your point. However it’s impossible with the engine unfortunately :(
Sorry for the delay in catch ups. As you know Zack it's been incredibly hot so between work and heat exhaustion 🥵 We know that Rome Is a superpower And I love to see you do A campaign as them one day but other then rome who are the other top four powers? Who are your personal top five factions? Who are your least favourite factions? Which culture do you like the most? What kindve unit roster do you prefer? 😊👍
Don’t worry bro it’s been boiling out! The other strongest nations are probably Seleucids, Ptolemies, Belgae and Antigonids in terms of the start if you know what you’re doing 😁 My favourite is Seleucids, then Parthia, Bactria epirus and Bithynia :) Least favourites are the Numidian and Iberian ones I’m not sure about culture but my favourite rosters are pretty far apart. I love an eastern horse archer cav roster, but I also love a shock infantry roster like Bithynia, low armour high damage 😁
@@dylanthomas6995 Thats probably true. But without Scipio they would have lost. :p Hannibal also fought for Mithridates and he got beaten easily by rome.
@@dylanthomas6995 Hehehe. Yeah. war is barely linear. To be fair. Later in time it was Germanic tribes and Eastern mounted archers that finished rome. but i would argue that was also due to increasing political instabilty of rome. They would have done nothing to a rome like in republic times.
Should have gone for a earlier start date in this mod. Pre Persian empire would be Perfect for this mod. Be able to build Rome up from scratch and Greek states would have been in there prime. Lydia, Babylon empire, Egypt and Pre Alexander Macedonia and wouldn't have the huge misshaped empires of Seleucid and Ptolemy at start of campaign.
The wars of the successors are extremely interesting and also allowed them to put a load of different factions on the map and also have really interesting diverse warfare methods. If you want that time period then all the mod assets are free to use with credit so if it’s in demand I’m sure someone will make a submod
@@Red_Zed fingers crossed, successor wars are interesting but for a crusader kings style game, makes the start to convoluted for a total war game. Don't get me wrong loving the mod but would never start as one of the bigger states, which rules out Rome. Whole point of a total war game is to build your empire, with that earlier start you would have had such a better map for it and so many more empire building options, Macedon, Thebes, Sparta, Athens, Rome, Carthage, Babylon, Lydia, Egypt, Persia all would start with reasonable size States you could build upon and not the mess of a map that this start date delivers. Italy would be like Greece is now with Etruscans and Samnites ect. so much better gameplay options.
Fair enough if you feel that way but I disagree. I like the large starts and there’s plenty of nations that have small starts, and those small starts are mega interesting. Rome also hasn’t been done and I don’t think it will all be Rome when they finish it, but Rome is perfectly standard start for me anyway, I don’t think it’s too big. In Greece but there’s the Thracians and Anatolians plus all the rest of the world to do :)
59:44 I'm sorry, but the war he's refering to was during republican times, not imperial ones, between 113 BC and 101 BC. It's the war that inspired the Marian reforms. Also, I think cultural impact is not relevant; this is a military strategy game and thus, impact on military history is more relevant than in philosophy or whatever.
Yes mate! Great to be a part
Thanks for joining mate, it was great fun 😁

0.6 will be massive! If this was 2h, the next one will need a two part series lol
Great content, fun and engaging back and forth discussion!

The Seleucids are my favourite faction. Once you get the economy under control they are unstoppable with a great roster.

Great can't wait the next video of Imperratum Surractum mod on Rome Remastered :)

Atropatene and Armenia are underrated. Their horse archers wipe the floor with everyone. Cappadokia also have very good high tier horse archer unit.
Fair play, for us just not as interesting as say Scythia or Parthia as horse archer factions :)

The Spartans are some of the most overrated posers ever

That’s cool. There is another 42 or so unplayable minor factions in the mod as well :)
is there a mod to add more units to post marian rome in imperium surrectum 0.5.1?

It was for patch 0.6.1 I believe :)
Sparta was literally more democratic than athens
