Also forgot to mention that the only other difference between the bikes is that the swing arm is a little longer than the MT-09. I believe it's about 2 and a half inches longer. Saw a comment and as I watched the video back, I forgot to throw that in.
The seating position is totally different, swingarm is different, the shocks and sprints are different and the bikes handle differently. The new latest MT-09 has improved forks/suspension especially the SP also has a bigger and better screen and now better brake calipers.
@@ferrisnox yes, the XSR springs are slightly stiffer and the longer swing arm improves stability and performance. In terms of frame and engine the performance is almost identical.

I ride a 23 MT-10. The fit and finish on these is next level compared to the MT line, even the 10. My 10 feels premium, but these have an extra niceness to them you have to see to appreciate. If I was looking for a triple it would be my top choice, especially in blue.
I bought a left over '23 a few weeks back, and love it! You didn't mention CRUISE CONTROL, which the base MT09 doesn't have. I added a MIVV Mx5 exhaust, DNA stage 2 and 2wheel dyno tune which gave it a lot more mid range. These bikes are an incredible value; you get a better riding position, Brembo brakes, stiffer springs, and CC, all for just $500 over the base MT09. 👍
Yeah I’m making an in depth video about the XSR vs. MT, this was just an overview of why I decided to go with it. I’ll be talking about a lot more of the features and differences in that vid. Do you know how much you gained hp/tq with the tune and mods?
@@Misiu_Motorsports I don't have exact hp numbers, probably around 115, (They said I'd gain 3-4hp if I removed the baffle.) but with this set up, there's considerably more torque down low.
Picked up a brand new 2023 Legend Blue this April. By far the best bike I've ever owned. I've also been looking at the Hoo-Bue kits, would love to see a install/ review of it. Not many on the internet with it.
Loving the videos, keep it up! we are on the same page on these bikes, I loved the first gen xsr900's but they had a reputation for having a very twitchy throttle and odd handling. When the second gen came out i wasn't super excited about the looks but it really grew on me and when i first saw a blue one at the dealership I fell in love. The camera cannot do the blue color justice, it's so much more amazing in person. I love the cafe racer style too, my first bike is a 2020 Husky Vitpilen 701 so when I was looking for a second bike I liked the looks of the xsr over the MT09. There is a company called velocity moto that has a full faring kit for these bikes calling it the 900f. Looks really good. I did the tail tidy and front turn signals from new rage cycles and a seat cowling from funny's custom service out of Japan. I love this bike and love that your channel is dedicated towards it. Keep it up!!!!
Yeah man this bike is stellar. Looks great. Wish I could've found one in my price range, but ended up going with a Street Triple. I still think the XSR900 is the better bike of the two for my style of riding.
I also have the blue XSR and it's a great color. I did add a Nitron N3 3-way adjustable shock which was very easy to install (the XSR900 has two holes through the frame which allows you to unscrew the stock shock). These bikes are built to a price point and an aftermarket shock makes the handling woes, tire wear, and excessive bounce over bumps just go away.
I think a new rear shock may be my next upgrade on this bike, then probably new direct lines. Are you happy with the performance of the nitron? Does it have a piggyback adjuster you have to mount? I need to check it out.
@@kforeal6809 Frame sliders, axle sliders, and a Nitron rear shock is all that is needed to turn the XSR900 into an exceptional bike. Don't touch the engine at all. The big advantage that Nitron and the rest of those shocks have is a high-speed compression circuit. The small bumps are taken care of by the slow speed circuit, and the big ones by the high-speed circuit. It does have a piggy back adjuster, but the shock also comes with a bracket that takes care of all of that even if you use frame sliders. I'd recommend the N1 shock although I have the N3 shock. The N1 shock uses a single clicker to adjust all three damping setting while the N3 is all individual.
I’ve heard that the mto9 does sit more upright and the footpegs are lower and not quite as aggressive as the xsr. I did sit on an xsr900 and also road a mt09 and it did feel like the xsr had a more aggressive riding position. Currently I’m riding an fz07 which I’m really enjoying. Maybe in future will upgrade. Thanks for the vid and ride safe out there.
