That's terrible. My mom and dad both used to sew. My mom taught us all how to embroidery and on the weekends we all gathered around mom and dad and sewed quilts. My dad would sew his own curtains for the camper/topper on his truck. He was really good. Way back in the day, I was in home ec. As a child I used to trace pictures out of my coloring books onto tea towels to embroider. With the rise in coloring books for adults I could probably do the same thing today! 😆
For the bobbins and tracking your colours if you don't want to write on the bobbin itself, keep one of the tags on the end that you begin winding with, then wind over it as usual. It will flatten out and you won't notice. Then, when your at the end of your thread and you need more but you've forgotten what colour it is the original tag will be there for you. Great work!💗
I have always been interested in embroidery but I thought it was way too hard. It seems like it is easier than I thought. I appreciate this embroidery 101 video.

Watching this even though I already know how to embroider. I have always wanted to hand embroider a pair of jeans, so that is the project I took on during my newfound free time. Just some advice: If you want to embroider on a stretchy piece of clothing, iron interfacing on the back so that the hoop does not stretch it out of shape.
Stefan Makara interfacing is something that adds structure and stability to garments during construction. The easiest home style is an iron on interfacing you can get at any fabric store. There’s different thickness types but it’s typically white and feels rough and bumpy on one side because the “glue dots” that the iron activates to adhere it to the surface you iron the smooth side of the surface to your fabric and it melts the glue dots to your fabric creating stiffness. If you ask someone in the fabric department at your craft store they can help you and it usually comes with instructions. Make sure you don’t put the iron on the glue side or you’ll hate your life lol but interfacing is an inexpensive item that can help a lot of things involving clothing and fabric

As a qurantine embroidery newbie I have been searching for a simple video where a person actually talks through what their doing...this has been amazing thank you. 👏👏👏👏
It is easier to tie the end of the thread before you start embroidering, so you don't have to hold it all the time or worry about losing it. A simple knot will do it, and it doesn't even show. It helps secure the whole design overall
I got a bit of a start and the thread was such a clogg. I never realized I could actually split the thread. That tip alone might have saved my project!

Very cool video. Popped up during a search and I enjoyed it. I think what I took away from this the most is that you don't get bogged down with techniques and technical stitches - you just thread the needle and fill in the space. I like that approach. And although I am interested in learning this and that stitch and this and that knot - my initial thought, when thinking that I wanted to try embroidering something and watching a ton of intricate videos, was - why can't I just grab a needle and some thread and just do something - make up my own techniques and come up with my own process for filling in a space? And months and months later I come across this video where you basically say that's what you did. I'm encouraged now - I wanted to make a journal for my landlord and do some embroidery on it (hence my interest in watching a lot of videos on it), but it seemed like I needed to know more than I knew right now. Having seen your video - I am gonna go get me a crap load of embroidery thread, draw me a design on some fabric, and fill it in however I see fit! Thanks for this. Your designs were simple, but still cute and still looks like embroidery. I will probably do some different styles and techniques though!!! And hey - IF I manage to squeeze a few technical stitches and fancy effects in - that will be a bonus! :D
Recently during all of this stuff I've had the most random urges and I feel kinda old ngl lol like I learned how to knit and I really wanna do embroidery now and watching this video just makes me wanna do it more lmao. But now that I've seen your adorable embroidery box and omg your little spools on a ring 🥰🥰🥰 I think I need to start embroidering just for that aesthetic!!! I'm definitely subscribing!
I've just started my first embroidery! It's a kit, so I've got step-by-step instructions, but I would love to be able to do my own so this video is really helpful :) I would love to make personalised clothing items and gifts for people :)
I've always wanted to do embroidery and I have those exact same threads that I always just used for friendship bracelets and hair clamps..nice to know I can put them to good use now!
Ok here’s a tip I just though of: for an easy project, practice different stitches all around the edges (chain stitch, back stitch, ect) and smack in the middle, just write Create! Or something, that way it’s nice and easy to help you practice, plus it will look really nice in the end
So, I do a lot of cross stitching, and have been thinking of getting into embroidery, too, and I have a tip for keeping your thread from tangling too much! When you separate the strand from the skein, you can hold the strand up and it will untwist a bunch. This works while you’re working with the thread, too, just hold the hoop up so that the thread with the needle on it dangles down and it will untwist, which helps keep it from tangling up too much! It will still tangle, but nowhere near as much as before, lol.

Tip for winding if you have a drill, you can buy a bobbin winder from like joanns, pop off the bit that holds the bobbin and fit it into your drill. This saved me so much time winding for my big projects

I just bought a kit off Amazon this is so helpful thank you so much I'm so excited to start!!
I started embroidering not long ago once I bought a kit!! I recently ordered myself another few kits, some linen and a set of threads to make things with ^^
So once I’m done with the kit patterns, I’ll try my own patterns ;)
Thanks for this video!! I can’t wait to get my kits and threads to embroider again! I love that textile arts are becoming popular again!
where did you buy linen from? i want to buy some fabric but i dont know where to buy them :((
ive been trying embroidery recently and honestly it kind of sucks but its really nice seeing more people talking about learning new skills and even giving tutorials on how to do better thank you!
I've embroidered before but I haven't done it much recently. I'm going to monogram some pajamas for my bridesmaids so I figured a little embroidery refresher video would be helpful. But now that I've seen your adorable embroidery box and omg your little spools on a ring 🥰🥰🥰 I think I need to start embroidering just for that aesthetic!!! I'm definitely subscribing!
Aww yes haha I love collecting pretty thread 🥰

You are TRULY my ray of sunshine!!! I’ve been looking 4 a basic book or video to help me get started. U have such a gift. 😘♥️🦋🙌
I've just started my first embroidery! It's a kit, so I've got step-by-step instructions, but I would love to be able to do my own so this video is really helpful :)
I would love to make personalised clothing items and gifts for people :)
I recently learned how to cross-stitch during quarantine and I wanna my hand at actual embroidery. Thank you for being so helpful
My GF loves little flowers and mushroom embroideries so I'm learning how to do it so I can surprise her with flowers and little critters
I'm doing a frog on the pocket of her jeans
So, I do a lot of cross stitching, and have been thinking of getting into embroidery, too, and I have a tip for keeping your thread from tangling too much! When you separate the strand from the skein, you can hold the strand up and it will untwist a bunch. This works while you’re working with the thread, too, just hold the hoop up so that the thread with the needle on it dangles down and it will untwist, which helps keep it from tangling up too much! It will still tangle, but nowhere near as much as before, lol.
Great vid from a great teacher, you got yourself a new subscriber. I hope you get lots more subscribers, because you seem to have a good knack and passion for teaching . Maybe one day you could show us how to use punch needle embroidery if you do know how to do it. Thanks!
i watched this video because i'm making a painting for my mom and wanted to add some embroidered details and i remembered of when i was a child and my grandma used to buy me canvases with cartoon characters to embroider and i used to have so much fun, you're really good at explaining!
