    Agreed with all of them! I leraned a bunch of things playing realistically. I play ETS2 since 2014 and I grew up with this game. It was rewarding when I managed to park the trailer by myself for the first time. Understanding the rules and respecting them are satisfying and makes the driving relaxing. I am also changing trucks all the time, experiencing all the game has to offer

    I will throw out a different perspective on this as I feel like what you class as "mistakes" are just the ways you do not like to play while others will have different goals or play styles to this.
    Cheating: If people want to cheat and they enjoy that style of gameplay then so be it, I can understand this as ETS2 can be very grindy initially and there are those that just simply like having lots of money to not have to worry about grinding it, a sandbox experience if you like.
    There is an exception to this that is TruckersMP as there are clear rules in place to cheating but in Single Player there is no mistake here when it comes to player choice.
    Parking: Probably the single biggest annoying thing to do in this game for a significant number of people I dare say especially when there is an option to auto park and get going to your next job, I am exceptionally good at parking but I find myself using quick park more often that not just for the ease of use.
    There are people that simply can not comprehend that if you steer one way the trailer does the opposite when reversing and then when you throw in looking out the window backwards complicates that even further I can fully appreciate why people will avoid it at all costs, Also "Get Gud" is not really a reason to imply people are doing it wrong any way.
    Boredom: I notice you make this point a few times but your play style might be good for you but does not mean it should be a solid fit for everyone or even should do it your way.
    Some people simply have short attention spans with games while others will put many hours in, It's all about what people get out of it in that time they play the game.
    Since SCS added multiplayer support it has allowed people to get together and have some fun like having truck races all be it slow moving ones lol but it has opened up possibilities for people to play together and play how they like as a group which to some degree negates some of the potential boredom (obviously not on TruckersMP because god forbid anyone has a little fun on a quiet part of that server)
    Besides ETS2/ATS has an amazing ability to be one of those games that people will keep picking up to play from time to time even if it is only for a couple of hours at a time.
    With that said I don't think your opinions are wrong it's just that they are not mistakes either as this game can accommodate different play styles for many people and not just yours.
    I have two profiles in this game where one is serious and by the book style of play (like yours) and another that is for fun where I play with friends for messing around racing, crashing etc, maybe consider trying it for yourself?

    No right or wrong way to play. I wouldn't call these examples mistakes. To each their own, for me since starting ATS and ETS around 2014 , I just want to dive in and drive, relax with some tunes. Now when I'm flightsiming it's total realism, no shortcuts. 🙂

    I agree with most of the things you said. I don't use cheating mods. I'll drive for companies until I have experience and money enough to buy me a nice truck, so not until I can buy a small one. So you can drive a lot of different trucks until you know what is your dream truck. Then I will start my company. About the parking. Most of the simmers fly around like a dove when parking. That's not the way a normal driver parks. If you want parking for real, use your mirrors (and some hang out of the windows) I will make some videos somewhere in the future, when I have figured out, how to record in virtual reality and also show what I do with my steering wheel and shifter. It can take a while before I'm there, but I will let you know.

    Id say treating it as a simluator is the games intent, and is what makes it so fun for a majority of people, but in the end its a game, play it how you want to. If you want to cheat, download a bunch of car mods, and drive recklessly, then go for it!

  • @janrt1735
    @janrt1735 Рік тому +4

    To me the nice thing about sim games like ets2 fs22 or MS flight simulator, is that you can set the realism however you want it. the game doesn't force you to play a specific way . There is no wrong or right way to play these games. cheating or driving unrealistic is not so much a mistake more like a personal preference. I don't have enough time to sit here and grind out those ets2 deliveries until I get enough money to buy a nice truck. So I use fast money mod, still have to drive for it just a lot less. One thing I will say about this game. when you first play it. don't go downloading a bunch of mods right away, learn to enjoy the vanilla game first then possibly move on to mods . I did this the first time download like 200 mods and it basically ruined my game.

    Real life is hard enough work to have access to stuff. As a worker from a simple family, I took almost 3 years to have a nice computer good enough to play ETS2 on maximum graphics settings. I play the game to have fun and escape from reality for a few hours, so I don't want to struggle to have a fancy Scania truck with nice equipments. I prefer to spend my time exploring landscapes, difficult routes, challeging cargo, different trailer settings, rather than struggle to gain money to buy stuff in game...again, work hard in real life is enough. But, this is my personal view of ETS2.

    I saw ETS 2 for the first time by a video from a Dutch UA-camr.
    Because I’m from The Netherlands.
    In 2015.
    And I have always interested about infrastructure from roads and highways and Topography.
    And I have in the past sitting in a real truck when I was on School as a little kid about 6 years old or so?
    I’m now 36 years old.
    Than I brought ETS 2 in the store.
    I have reading the backside from the case of ETS 2.
    So I know where the game going was/is all about.
    I’m was really excited about the game.
    And I have playing it for 250 hours.
    I like the mods.
    Like: The Dutch Map, TSM and Promods.
    The Promods Map with the combination with Southern Region, Road To Africa, Road To Asia, Promods - Middle East, Romania Extended And with EAA.
    They are the best 😉

    Good points, though I don't neccessarily agree with all of them.
    - drive realistically, agreed;
    - don't use money cheats, agreed;
    Making money just by doing deliveries is rather easy, provided you don't keep crashing your truck into every other car or object.
    When I started playing the game again after a few years, I made my 100,000 back in a week, just by doing deliveries and putting all my points in long distance deliveries.
    However, I could care less about the managing of other drivers. In reality, once you have a medium sized company, you would be sitting behind a desk in the office, managing your drivers. And I just want to drive and explore the entire map!
    Regarding the use of the onboard GPS: first time I did a delivery, the GPS send me on obscure roads in the middle of the night, which was rather intimidating to me as I was just getting to grips driving a truck. Or simulating driving a truck.
    Then I just looked at the map before I started to drive. Plan the old fashioned way. End destination is Paris, so first, starting in Amsterdam, head for Rotterdam, Brussels, Lille, then Paris.
    Note, if I made any errors, that's because the game does not simulate every city or hub. For instance, the Utrecht hub (Oudenrijn Hub) is the most important traffic hub in The Netherlands but it is not in the game because Utrecht is not a destination in the game.
    Anyway, if you know what major cities you will have to pass to get to your destination, doing the delivery is just a matter of following the direction signs, just like in real life. GPS comes in handy while driving in or approaching a destination, and you have to find out how to drive to the company's location.
    Later on, when I was more confident in my driving and maneuvering, I started to appreciate the obscure small roads beside the highways, because of the unique views and companies like quarries are in difficult to reach places, making for a new challenge once a player has mastered the driving and maneuvering.
    First time delivery I did not park manually of course. I tried repeatedly but it was extremely frustrating and at times I got so stuck that I just aborted the game. After a few deliveries, I started to park the truck the easy way, 10XP only and after mastering that, I finally managed to park the trailer backwards. Though some companies that are in the middle of the city are so small in size and don't have much space so sometimes I'll still opt for the 10XP parking method.
    My criticisms of the game are just minor. Like I already mentioned above, it's a pity that there is no Utrecht Hub in The Netherlands. I understand that they accellerate time so you're not driving in realtime, which would be stupid. Nobody wishes to sit behind their computer doing a 13 hour delivery in real time. Yet, for some parts of the route, like the Afsluitdijk they should make that part real time.
    Why? Then you get to appreciate the size and dimensions of those objects in the game.
    And if they could put a Utrecht Hub in the game, they could also make driving there real time because the Utrecht Hub is awesome in real life (or extremely frustrating during rush hour haha). And they wouldn't neccessarily have to put the city of Utrecht in the game as a destination. Just make it a rest/refuel area and call it Utrecht. Because in real life, Utrecht itself has lost much of its significance as a logistics destination so I do understand why there is no Utrecht in the game. But the Utrecht Hub is still there and truckers have to navigate it everyday.

    cheating money and xp depends on the map. vanilla and promods it's not needed. on 1:1 maps it is, otherwise it'll take you years to progress
