14:17 The *set of these four tools is considered a complete and essential package for effective organization and productivity.*
18:09 The *importance of deliberate experimentation and reflection in productivity, drawing parallels with the concept of deliberate experimentation seen in successful generalists, as discussed in David Epstein's work.*
19:07 Knowing *what you're doing is crucial for productivity, described as "Darwinian productivity" where systems are tested in a competitive landscape.*
19:35 Cal *Newport uses a self-regulatory notebook and a "book of small experiments" to test hypotheses and expand skills.*

01:11:02 Policy *Genius offers an easy way to compare life insurance options, starting at $292 per year for a million-dollar coverage, with some providing same-day approval.*

24:10 Dont work backward with the most advanced application, then let your particular frustration/ limitations drive you to another application that solve that specific problem
25:25 Reflection on your system, or experiment (what works what doesn’t work)

It’s possible to schedule dual meetings on any digital calendar, one for the reminder, one for a real meeting or time block. It’s also simple to color code either the real calendar item or the reminder, or both. I use Outlook.

The goal is not to be surprised by the meetings you have in your proper calendar. If you use a tasklist, you can automate things so that every time you add a meeting in your calendar, a task is also added to your tasklist for one day (two days? three days? depends on how those meetings a re challenging) before that will remind you to get ready/prepared for the meeting that will come the next day.

Hey Cal, I took your video on starting with your new year resolution in 2023 instead of 2024 pretty seriously. The simplicity of the idea kept me awake for two nights. I started building habits. I started with not using the phone after 9:30 and weak early. I have been consistently doing that. That's one bird down. I have also identified my daily patterns of what to eat in morning, afternoon, evening and night. What makes me lazy in the afternoon, what time I used to have cravings and replaced them with healthy options like milk, fruits, and eggs. What works for me in terms of workout. Is it a morning workout I should go for or the evening. I have identified my time blocks for deep work in the entire day. I identified exactly when do I feel naturally active and when I feel lazy. I feel like I know myself. The only issue I have is to build up the habit of sticking to one goal to build my career and earn money. Hopefully in the next two months I will do that as well and by the time 2024 starts I will be ready to be the best version of myself.

Digital Apps are a big waste of time that I would add to the bucket of cyber-productivity tools.
One ends up putting a lot of thinking into the tool rather than actions.
