    lower fire seems to build when hit by water. Wonder what kind of chemicals they were using? welding Supplies. Paint?

      They built trailers there so that's possible.

    It has to be so tough fighting a fire, when the water 💧tankers have to come in as a water supply, where there should be a hydrant to supply all the water needed. Great job fighting the fire 🔥. Have a great day 🙂.

      We used a hydrant and Tanker Shuttle to suppliment. Also it's good to have 2 water sources in case of failure of a hydrant

      @@eriksantor9125 Yes, it is always good to have more then one water 💧source, especially with a large fire 🔥. Thank you for all you men, and women do. Stay safe, and have a great day 🙂.

      To provide the kind of water flows needed here the one hydrant could not do it, so tankers were needed.

      Most places outside of larger municipalities have few, if any hydrants as that requires a substantial tax base to foot the bill for installation of the water mains and hydrants, the construction of a water treatment facility and a pumphouse to supply the pressure for the water main system, the cost of paying people to run the treatment facility, as well as the pumphouse. In addition to the cost of maintenance/upkeep of the hydrants and water mains, flushing the entire hydrant system every few months, or yearly, the list goes on.

      Controlled burn got outta control I believe. That building was just a pole barn building, and they are lumber and tin. Burn fast and hard!

      They don't have a mounted one on their engine. It already off and in use (ground monitor) They have a new Pierce ordered to replace.

    A lot of FFs standing round doing 5/8 of FA…. Surely there’s a logical reason to this I’m not aware of!

    • @FDNY8231
      @FDNY8231  Рік тому +4

      There is ... Volunteers show up with as many people as they can get, and not everyone is needed or assigned a specific job. If needed tho we always have manpower to tap, and I'd rather have too many than not enough FF to get the job done.

    • @davidlenzi3551
      @davidlenzi3551 Рік тому

      Some are awaiting assignments from the Incident Commander coordinated fire attack requires that everyone not assigned to a specific task in grouped at a staging area ready to take over for firefighters coming off assigned tasks for rehab. Also as FDNY8231 states additional manpower if needed. Bottom line is no one acts independently outside of the chain of command
