@@typicalmexicanog1987 this is my fourth year in Naval JROTC if you didnt shine your shoes already then i would say for the first time just kinda play around with them but try to follow a vid simmilar to this on it but not everbody shines shoes the same theres no right or wrong so just go your own way and see were it takes you
Ankit Shah I'm a 3rd year Air Force Jrotc cadet and do not put that much shoe shine on your shoe. I was taught way different by my army and marine recruiters.
Esmymarie Contreras The way he shines the shoes are similar to what I was taught. The big difference is how much shine he puts. In school I was taught to use a rag, but I don't have a soft rag so I decided to use the cotton ball method. Thank you for informing me though, since this is my first year and semester
I learned to put the polish on, using a couple drops of water to make sure the shoe retains some moisture and doesn't crack. Use a rag to apply it. (Press hard so it goes into the leather and looks dull with no reflection.) Then wait a few hours for it to properly sink in to the shoe. (I just wait until the next day.) After it has sunk in, take the polish off by wetting a rag, wringing it out, and rubbing the shoe with the slightly wet rag (which should be wrapped around your index or index and middle finger), while applying a lot of pressure. The final step is to get the rag even more wet, this time wringing it less and buffing the shoes. (Buffing is just swiping the rag left and right on the front part of the shoe.) The way that I do it, once mastered gives you a better shine than the man in the video and I haven't even been in NJROTC for a whole school year yet. I hope the version that I have been taught helps!
I was following this expecting it to not work for me but the result was actually shinier than my other pair! Thank you so much for posting this video, I was just doing stuff to my shoes with the shoe polish hoping it'd be shinier but it never did lol
It's not required. But I mean if you want to polish every part of the shoe go right ahead. I'm in AFJROTC and what we do is basically the same except we use cotton t-shirts.
okay thank you this is very helpful im in jrotc as a freshmen and since ami is coming up in about a few months i wanna be prepared and this stuff also counts as my grade
Thank you, this is very helpful. However, I recommend everyone to use a piece of cloth instead of a cotton ball, if you want to get your hands less dirty :)
Lincoln polish will get a better shine overall, much faster way to do is spend a few more dollars and buy better polish. Kiwi is good all around polish but not great. Colonial 1909 is much much easier, you lightly apply a coat, let it sit 20 minutes and buff off, my boats are way shiner with little to no effort
The best way is to put the polish on brush it with the horse hair brush and use a shine cloth to buff it out. This way is too time consuming and takes too long
antonio ortiz if it’s a black lace on a black shoe there is not point to take them off. The polish will get absorbed by the laces and help with the shine
Omg, take the laces off first. Additionally, get a spare toothbrush to clean the area where the leather meets the sole of the shoe. Look into getting some edge dressing for the sides of the sole of the shoe as well. (If they allow you to use edge dressing that is)
Want a better method without too much to do just wet a cloth spread it on the shoe before it sets in put a tiny bit on the cloth and work the front with polish and water if you need more water put some more on after 2 of those on both shoes you have a mirror shine
That's WAY to much polish! Putting that much on can dry up the leather and crack the shoe, I'm in cadets and one day when we were practicing our marching a guy's shoe started cracking up on the parade deck because he was newer and didn't know that you shouldn't put that much on, also you shouldn't put on KIWI polish at all, it's crap, no brand shoe polish I buy at my local dollar store works far better then that kiwi shit!
No matter what tutorial regarding to ROTC I go to, every one of the videos have comments saying it's wrong.
Like every video, man.
ikr, idk which one to use

Danny Boy because every unit is taught differently
Danny Boy don’t use water just get a cloth and put polish on the shoes then rub it with the cloth I do that and my shoes look better than his
@@jordytorrex4087 do you use kiwi shoe polish?
Thank you so much! I'm in Naval JROTC (also I'm a freshman) and by using this technique I had a mirror/spit shine by the time of AMI.
Ankit Shah im also a freshman naval jrotc to

I was looking on how to get the damn lid off.
Spin that thingy on the side. I learned the hard way and got kiwi on my hands
A cutting torch should work.
@@tofucube7703 same 😂
Ha just twist the ear
There's a pin on the side you turn upward to push the lid off

Got a mass inspection tomorrow and it’s been a while since I last shined my shoes, it helped me thanks

This saved my life in JROTC, thank you so much
I've needed this for 2 years, thank you so much!!!
I'm a JROTC cadet a small tip if you don't have cotton balls a white sock works good as well
It does the same job
Thx for the tip!! It was well needed :)
Also cotton t shirt
Might I recommend taking out the laces first next Time

Inspection is tomorrow so you really came in clutch there man
Thank god I found you I have all the things rotc has me dead with the shoes they are hard to shine for me but now since I found this I got it now
Just got hired working venues and weddings at a country club, you're a lifesaver man
IM IN ROTC AND THIS HELPS SO MUCH THANKS!!!!!!!
okay thank you this is very helpful im in jrotc as a freshmen and since ami is coming up in about a few months i wanna be prepared and this stuff also counts as my grade
I’m a freshman thanks for making the video your a life saver
thx for this tip I always keep getting marked off on shoes in ROTC
Who told you to use cotton balls you should use a white cloth.and you need parade gloss the polish your using is for buffing out scuffs.
Patrick Cox In the 80s when I served in army we didn’t have Parade Gloss polish just Kiwi and spit 😉
But it worked didn't it?
I use cotton balls wen I was in the marines
Cotton balls work fine but I’d personally say that from ROTC that micro fiber works best
I got them black nike AF-1
is it okay if I use kiwi shoe polish on it????
We always put the cream on our boots in the army and then brushed it to a mid shine...and then finished it with a panty hose to a super shiny finish.
this is a terrible method, do not put that much kiwi, it may crack the shoe. ~U.S Sailor
SuperZ You have terrible spelling
???
SuperZ "meathod"
SuperZ what's the difference between a sailor and marine? a marine is the manly department of the navy 😂
FUS RO DA!!

is it normal to have streaks on shoes
NoisyTy yes, their creases, the inspectors won't judge you if you have creases, just make sure your shoes are shined
thanks bud
I follow what you said and I keep doing the water thing and it doesn't shine up , is there any errors that I did ? 😅😅
With the laces in
Dont you have to take the laces out first
So you dont get polish on your hands or socks
Thank you, this is very helpful. However, I recommend everyone to use a piece of cloth instead of a cotton ball, if you want to get your hands less dirty :)
I have rotc tomorrow- im terrified for my life 😭 they do not be playing with them shoes
lol how do you get the cap off the kiwi shoe shine - struggling with that
Can we use the sponge applicator?
Dude this worked perfectly! Thanks brother! 👊🏼
0:32 I’m glad he told me to take off the lid, because I was really stuck up until that point
Well done. I think I can shine my own shoes now.
The shoes are laced wrong...
Zachery Cooke first thing I noticed lol
Zachery Cooke ikr
THANKS YOUUU I was relieved to see we have the same shoes
I’m a freshman in high school and am in the JROTC program hopefully this works because I have my first uniform day tomorrow
It actually works
I only learned about kiwi shoe polish through pikmin 2
Fellow jrotc cadets wya
does liquid polish work
Houston tx Never use liquid polish, it's basically cheating
Houston tx over time it ruins the shoe
It doesnt.
Neeeeever use liquid shine it rubs off very easy and evaporates fast too so it's not worth the time
Don't use it, I had a friend use and the shine didn't last long, like 10 minutes
i have a different shoe shine called kime would that work? i have to do this for navy NJROTC too.
i use sofsole shoe shine and it works fine. So the brand doesnt really matter. Kiwi was just what he was using for the video.
What do the ice cubes do?
Not shiny enough, I need it to be a mirror
Lincoln polish will get a better shine overall, much faster way to do is spend a few more dollars and buy better polish. Kiwi is good all around polish but not great. Colonial 1909 is much much easier, you lightly apply a coat, let it sit 20 minutes and buff off, my boats are way shiner with little to no effort
but if your instructor fins out... better not to risk it
Do you have any right before inspection tips?
A guy I knew had a pair of shiny shoes he only wore for inspections.
Which district are you all from
Beautiful ❤️ lovely 🌹😍 awesome.😊 excellent 👍 perfect 💕 perfection 🎉
AMI will be pissed if u said u did that
Cameron Sylvia AMI? Im in afjrotc and we have ASI's
@Luce S. Its annual military inspection. Once every year in njrotc. It basicly a whole unit inspection done by active duty marines or W.O
good job... very easy to do...
what kind of brush it that
I did this and it got really shiny on the first coat.
I’m in AFJROTC Rn but I’ll still use this
How long does the shine last tho?
A long time if you don't wear them a lot
oh my god it worked thank you so much it really works
How long do they stay shiny without redoing it?
What are your thoughts on heating up the polish with a lighter
Idk for you but for my NJROTC class if you get caught doing that or using quickshine then you in big trouble
A lighter will burn the shoe it’s too much of a risk, a hair dryer is better it will give it more shine but you don’t need too much just a little bit
Amazing Definitely work and thanks
I give you a 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Any Canadian sea cadets looking to this video for help, yeah this works just try to use a kiwi cloth, dont have to.
You should also put shaving cream on your shoe and wait for it to get all flaky and than brush it off with your buffing brush and after that shine it
Im in Air Force JROTC This will be the first time I shine my shoes, I’m scared that I will mess up
I'm in Njrotc and same
How's afjrotc
TikTok Thingz it’s really great!! Everyone is super supportive and I’m having a blast, I’m so happy I chose it ☺️🤧
How do you even open the container?
i assume you know by now but the coat hook looking thing on the side
just turn it and pop the lid off
Wait so is it not a good method to shine your shoes?
Next... how to polish your belt buckle!!!
thanks big man helped a ton
Worked 👍🏾 great
Thank you very much
Why don't you remove laces
The best way is to put the polish on brush it with the horse hair brush and use a shine cloth to buff it out. This way is too time consuming and takes too long
nice job
I would take the shoelaces off first.
antonio ortiz if it’s a black lace on a black shoe there is not point to take them off. The polish will get absorbed by the laces and help with the shine
@@skimaster12 I mean considering they arent even laced correctly, he SHOULD probably take them off and re-lace them lmao

Yup, that's why ROTC recommends it - you have to be able to make things work!
horrible brushing technique. You have to brush the shoe, not rub it
