Und was soll das bringen? Nach jedem Krieg gibt es Veteranen, die sehen wie ein Krieg wirkt, welche Folgen er hat. Schon der 30jährige Krieg hat doch gezeigt was Krieg anrichtet. Es wird vergessen. Krieg wird es immer geben, weil es immer jemanden gibt, der nach Macht strebt oder neidisch auf seinen Nachbarn ist.

Reinhard Mey ist schon immer sehr mutig und sehr kritisch der deutschen Politik gegenüber getreten. Ich bin 1961 in der DDR geboren, habe als Kind ihn schon verehrt und bewundert, wie kritisch er damals schon war. Mein ganzes Leben hat mich Reinhard Mey mit seiner Musik begleitet. Ich Danke ihn dafür und ich werde immer Fan von ihm bleiben. Seine Lieder sind Botschaften mit denen wir uns ernsthaft auseinander setzen sollten. Es ist so, wenn keiner in den Krieg zieht können sie nicht kämpfen. Das Problem ist alle müssen da mitmachen. Alle Menschem auf dieser Welt sollten die Waffen niederlegen. Das Lied sollte in jedem Land dieser Erde gespielt Werden und zwar in der jeweiligen Landessprache, damit jeder es versteht.
Ein❤ für den Frieden und ein riesiges Dankeschön an Reinhard Mey.

Ein schöner Gedanke, aber leider utopisch.
Wenn die menschliche Natur nicht wäre, dann könnten wir eines Tages dieses Ideal erreichen, aber bis dahin muss es leider heißen SI VIS PARCEM PARA BELLUM - Wer Frieden will muss sich auf den Krieg vorbereiten.
Wenn ich in einen Angriffskrieg ziehen soll bin ich der erste der sich weigert!
Aber ist wäre auch der erste der zur Waffe greift, wenn es darum geht meine Familie und meine Nachbarschaft zu verteidigen. Und wenn meine Kinder sich mir dann anschließen, würde ich natürlich Angst um sie haben, aber ich könnte nicht stolzer sein.
Ein Pazifist ist harmlos! Jemand der nur dann zur Waffe greift wenn er sich und andere verteidigen muss ist friedvoll!

Imagine some guy with a Guitar playing songs, in which the text is always the most important feature (which naturally doesn't make it very accessible for the international market, though he is equally known in France, for the times he sings in french). Some songs are funny, some songs are political, some are simply thoughtful and they always feel very genuine. Like, after her got children, there were a lot of songs about fatherhood.

It was just as important in 1986. It was the height of the 'Cold War' and D stood squarely between the two warring factions. The fact that almost 40 years later it is almost the same scenario is frightening for me.
Or, to believe my father, who lived through this period himself, the signs and omens today are the same as before WW2 began.
In every country, more and more "patriots" and fascists are gathering in the provinces and spreading hatred and division from there. Blame the poorest, refugees and minorities for the social situation for which completely different people are responsible. In the cities, people are more enlightened, they get less support there. This was exactly the tactic used under Hitler to gain power. He was not successful in the cities, but in the provinces, where people felt left behind anyway.

I only know the original version with Reinhard Mey singing it alone - and I once heard him singing it on stage in his typical singer-sonwriter manner, just him and his guitar. He is the one at the end with the glasses and the leather jacket (singing the last "nein, meine söhne geb ich nicht")
Very sad fact: Reinhard Mey, who clearly loves his sons as much as a father can love his children, lost one of his sons to some strange bug or accident.
I've been a fan of Reinhard Mey for way over 35 years.
That version was recorded during Corona...I guess partly to give all the musicians featured in it some sort of gig, considering that they themselves couldn't tour. He opened his own youtube channel during that time, and occasionally uploads songs there, mostly remixes of his old works.

I listened to this song over 30 years ago, when I knew that my second child would also be a son, and cried bitterly for most of my pregnancy. And it still brings tears to my eyes to this day. The song was composed and sung by Reinhard Mey (the singer singing the last line) and the first redition is just he who sings. This version is newer, much more powerful.

I discovered this song a couple of months ago and was hooked by the message.. Its so good and well written.

There is a great video of Reinhard Mey, Constantin Wecker and Hannes Wader (all German Singer-Songwriters and Wader who is the original interpret of the song) singing this song live together. It is by far one of the best political songs of all time. If you are interested, give it a try! :)

My father fought in WW II as a paratrooper, he always said when the fatherland calls for war - run away! After the war, you see the faces of those who have been torn to pieces for the rest of your life, once you have lost your limbs, children run after you with mocking songs, to the state you are only a burden and a criminal, no honour, no glory. For the state, only a dead soldier is a good soldier, the survivors know too much of the horror for the politicians' money.

You have to hear and translate "Alle Soldaten wollen nach Haus". Its not actual, but it describes how soldiers from different countries feel. Reinhard Mey worte it before 1989, so there are both Germanys- the West and East. Although a good song is "Mein Berlin".

Reinhard mey was the favorite musican of my father... my father died last month. I am a fan of reinhard as well. Not only because of this powerfull music but although in memory of my father. Stay strong and together!

Reinhard Mey is very outspoken against wrong government behaviour and military. Another great songs in the direction of anti-government from him is "Narrenschiff" (ship of fools)
