So what's the verdict, should I place the outhouse next to the blacksmith, finish up this MOC and move on to the next build series or should I expand this MOC and let the farmers have the outhouse?

Farmers keep the outhouse, and definitely expand on this MOC focusing on the other side of the river by the blacksmith shop.
an expansion would be awesome. maybe you could even add a field of wheat or some other crop for the farm. also great potential for some nice little easter eggs.

I really like the idea of expanding the diorama, so definitely go for that if you want to! 😀 Regarding the outhouse though, I still think it should go to the black smith. I feel it fit's better with the more wealthy family. I personally work at a living history museum depicting the 16th to 19th century, and the outhouse is one of the distinctions between upper- and lower class. I can not say if it's the same in the middle ages, but I can imagine it's not too far off. I know it's fantasy, and historical accuracy doesn't matter, but I think these small nuggets from history are fun to think about 😁

This diorama of yours looks simply unsurpassed, because the detailing here is thought out to the smallest parts and all the details are selected very harmoniously! I would love to shoot stop motion animation in such fantastic scenery!

I'd love to see this MOC continue a bit longer! Also I have a suggestion for your next MOC, an amusement park with roller coasters and stuff :) It's what I'm doing, and I'm not planning to steal builds from you, but I only know 1 other person besides myself who is properly attempting to build an amusement park, and it's so much fun! So I'd love to see more people try!
Here is my full suggestion: A part of an amusement park, 1 single themed area (I suggest western :) ) with 1 coaster, maybe a couple of rides, worked out as much as you can! I'd absolutely love seeing this! No one ever has made a Lego amusement park with the level of detail you have!

Nice idea, thanks! I do have a tray of roller coaster track parts, just straight ones no turns though, got them for other purposes. I still have alot of mocs to go through for the core themes of this channel though, so off-topic mocs will come way later. Maybe one day can do castle or star wars themed park haha

Thanks! Yeah I didn’t want to expand anymore because the blacksmith was starting to become irrelevant the more I expanded it, and it is supposed to be a diorama for it. But new builds means new stories though!

Cows and sheep actually coexist very well because they graze differently. I don’t know how it works if both are there simultaneously, but I do know that you can graze cows in a field after sheep, but not vise versa.
That’s because sheep only crop the top off the grass, but the cows will pull it up by the roots. So if the cows graze before the sheep there’ll be nothing left while the sheep leave enough for cows to graze afterwards.

I would expand it… but I don’t think you need to add 2 48x48 base plates. I think you can get away with smaller ones.

I work with what I have, I basically start with a mental image and just put pieces together until I’m happy with it, everything I do is trial and error 😅

For pigs, what about attaching them to a 2x4 plate and then attaching that plate off grid on a turntable, jumper, etc.?

I would not call that family low income. They have so many farm animals. They are pretty rich for peasant standars.
Good point, this thought did cross my mind but I really wanted to pack in as many animals as possible to make it look interesting
