WorldRecord #4K
So basically, he got a muscle up world record. Almost a 1-finger-deadlift world record, and did all this after a rigorous training session, while being relatively untrained in the events. I mean. That's Magnus for you.
there is a guy that can do 32.5kg one arm pullup. So i'm sure he could smash the muscleup record. Matthew Zlat or something
The current muscle up Word record is 60 kg (it is on rings) and on the bar there are some athletes (i think 5 or 6) that can muscle up with 50 kg of extra weight
Now let's be honest: A lot of world records are a joke and are only there to finance GWR. For sure there are many insane records, but the "pay us 5.000$ so we come to your house for 10 minutes to verify something stupid nobody has ever done"-records are definitely on the rise.
What I'm trying to say is that GWR are losing their credibility on a daily basis and in the eyes of plenty (professional) communities, GWR has become a pathetic joke. So, just because something is a Guinness World Record doesn't meant shit. There are a lot of people that could easily beat (stupids) records, they just don't want to pay 5.000$ to get verified.
juan jose hernandez it’s probably based on weight classes though cuz a 200 pound man pulling 60kg is different than a 160 pound dude pulling 60kg
Magnus is a monster
Magnus: removes tape to get a more slippery bar.
Also magnus: chalks his hands so it's less slippery
removes tape for more slide, chalks hands for less sweat
Magnus has to be one of the most all-around fit people on the planet. It's wild how close you get to all of these records without and specialized training. Absolutely insane.
Thats what i find incredible about people like him. With such an allround fitness they exceed even at sports they never did
Yeah he only has specialisation in climbing but even without any real training he is elite-level in pull-based grip strength, and pull-based strength and bodyweight. Even in swimming and running he is comfortably into the top 1%
Magnus, you're a beast there's no two ways around it. Another classic, thanks for the fun and rediculousness 😂
That makes two of you! Fantastic series of videos gentlemen.
just will never forget Pete's send in the crack route. Never tried the crack climbing, but this was outstanding.
Jag eeererreeeeee reer rerrrrrerrrrrrrererr
The only reason Pete couldn’t do some of the boulders is because he didn’t have his shirt off 😂
well he didn't have a Rungne shirt on that is just so damn easy to take off....wideboyz shirts don't come with that built in feature yet
Im not quite sure that was the only reason 😂...
I don't think I would ever take my shirt off with Magnus in the room. :P
Sondre Grøneng 😂😂
Sondre Grøneng same haha
Magnus: can't even walk or even get up with the 45kg backpack
also Magnus: proceeds to do 7 pullups
I love episodes with Pete. You guys have such a great blast together.
No matter if you're climbing or just goofing around :)
yeah i really like the episdoes with Pete also
5:15 There is a phenomenon called "bilateral deficit" which basically means the sum of force you can do with each of your arms/legs on their own, is bigger than what you can create if you move them together.
Which is exactly why Magnus is able to do a lot of one armed pull ups, but not a pull up with 2 times his body weight.
Well if you only use one arm at a time it makes sense.. if you change a bech press to a dumbbell bench press the weight actually lowers cause you cant stabilize aa well. If you were to somehow dumbbell press with only one arm i could imagine it being a lot hogher
Also maybe because different muscles are used
"What are we gonna do tonight, Brawn?"
- "Same thing we do every night, Crimpy... Try to break a World Record!"
"It would be nice to get at least one..." only magnus is disapointed when he doesn't break a world record in his session.
"They probably didn't think anyone would be stupid enough to use that!" hahahahahahaha
Pete is my favorite guest that you have on your channel. He just has a great attitude, I wish i could be as positive and easy going as he is. This is the best channel on UA-cam, by far.
More stuffz with Pete, nice.
Yeet
For the weighted muscle-up, if you have heavy enough kettle bells on-site, they may be easier to use than the big weighted plates. The weight will be closer to your core and won't make you swing as much; and you won't have to be mindful of not crushing your toes under the plates when you get down. Loving the content!
7:08 Pete’s face is like... wth is magnus making me do...
Pete is just such a genuinely nice person, damn
god i love pete the moment magnus gets to sketchy territory with the monos "i think you've got more in you!"
Yep 😆
Pete should try most hand jam pull up in one min.
I would totally love to see this! He could create a new world record!
@@EcoCurious easily, 😄
Some records because of the different jams |✊🏼| |👌🏼| |🤚🏼|
22:22 Magnus tries WR weighted muscle up.
Also Magnus: tHat'S gOoD tRaiNinG thO
since when is failed 33.75kg muscleup wr? world record muscleup is 65kg?
@James Dazhong Cook 100% agreed
It seems like the 65kg record you’re referencing is for the rings and not a bar.
@James Dazhong Cook Exactly, not to mention that the one he did wouldn't even count because he was using way too much momentum and wasn't going over the bar with both arms at the same time. This is great content for people that know nothing about calisthenics or fitness in general. Since for them, even a proper muscle-up is a dream.
@@josipcrnkovic3296 Its impressive because Magnus is a world class athlete who does this without training for it at all. The others are people who aren't world class athletes, they just train at it.
That frickin mono in the bolt hole though 😂
That was insane, basically right after they were talking about mono holds too.
They are HARD because hold holes are slippery and also mismatch your fingers. I've tried.
Imagine going to the park and seeing a guy just hanging completely horizontal off of a bar.
Timestamp?
6:31 and 26:25
Its called a front lever and its only a B element in gymnastics so in other words not that hard.
true not that hard. You can look for the most insane static moves In Cali and you will be amazed
it is harder the taller you are. magnus is 174cm so it's quite easy for him, but for a 190cm guy it's completely different.
Dude i love Magnus's face while watching Pete doing his pull ups, he was really enjoying himself 😂
Since there are no crack climbing world record your friend probably gets all crack climbing records by default :P
Pete is so incredibly fun to watch! He was so humble and so strong !
This comment is for the algorithm
An underrated one although
comment
I bet they start counting that type of comment less in the future ahahaha
I remember watching a Pokemon nerd video and on that channel writing such a comment is a meme.
Lmao, jep
Someone: gives the finger to Magnus
Magnus: Don't you give me that undercling mono!
It's absolutely nuts how close both of you got on the one-finger deadlift, considering the record holder probably has at least 50kg extra bodyweight, and per arm, that's more than your max PR deadlift as well! Insanity.
Would love a series documenting you projecting an outdoor boulder or sport route. Start with why you selected the route/bloc, then your plan, your training, your mental battles, and of course your tries, and whether you send it in a season or two or three.
Definitely could beat a few more of those records with some training.
Pete "I'm more of a static climber"
Almost perfectly does a sloper dyno first try.
These guys are very good at climbing ey?
Climbing world records is basically all they do professionally
It's cool to see Magnus interact with someone who is better than him at an aspect of climbing. Magnus is usually the best climber in the room and I think you can tell Pete's skill really commands his respect. Thanks for another great video Mganus, love the collaboration!
It’s nice to see Pete, one of the top climbers in the world, struggle on some stuff that magnus flashes. Magnus really is an incredibly strong and talented climber and it’s easy to forget that
This video is mostly Magnus and Pete giggling together and I love it
Magnus, Tom "fingern" Stensnes from Holmestrand Norway set the one finger deadlift world record back in 1991 and lifted 282,16kg
And there is a video of the lift in the 80-s where he did 254 kg
Gammel kjenning fra Se og hør på 90-tallet
bro this is crazy, there is literally like a tiny tiny handful of people in the world that could parallel this guy's fitness
Always love the videos with Pete!
Your excellence is shown by your silence on the wall. Not many people "get" that. The strength of control defines your ability. Super impressive! All always, respect. david old school.
On one hand, I’m sad that I can’t go out climbing, and on another, I’m Glad that I have time at home to watch you guys instead
@Dad wdym he might be disabled
@@egi__lyricsadder5545We're still all quarantined where I live which is why I'm not able to.... but I appreciate the thought tho :)
@@ethanjoel7096 can't even go outside?
Brode Haynie The gyms are starting to open but only on certain days, and with other more pressing things on my schedule, there’s only so much time I can designate to climbing. Still, things are starting to look up for me :)
@@ethanjoel7096 well thats good that they're opening. But real cliffs is where its at
"theres no way Im gonna do it without kipping" 100 cross-fitters cried out in rage
So nice to see someone that can keep up with al lot of Magnus' bouldering for a change. And of course be awesome at crack climbing. Well done Pete and Magnus, nice vid.
I lost it when Pete did the bolt hole mono. Freaking hilarious.
Take a shot every time they say “yeah” lol
Oh you want to die....
@@kelliodwyer7988 I accept
yeah yeah yeah
You got a death wish?
You guys are awesome too watch! Could never get enough of the Magnus and Pete shenanigans!
Seeing Magnus bouldering compared to another top level athlete makes his performance even more impressive. He is so ridiculously strong. :D Nice video though.
Dr Rolf He is a beast. Would like to see him on something like Dynamics of Change though hehe
im so excited for the adam ondra video^^ we will finally see someone beat magnus at normal gym boulders^^
@@Fred-oz3tw theres a video coming with both of them? would be insane, no chance for magnus tho lol
@@yannik9266 y no one knows when, but adams channel replied positively to the request.
Honestly watching them two climb would be awesome... Interesting to see how far behind Magnus is now he doesn't compete.. Magnus should just pick all Dyno boulder's Adam isn't quite as good at them 😂😂
This uncomfortably reminds me of the time when I had to move a 220 pound electric engine by hooking my fingertips beneath a tiny metal collar, deadlifting the thing and waddling a few meters away. I could use six fingers and it still hurt like hell. I'm in awe of how much pain these guys can tolerate in their hands (and probably also feet).
Legend says if you call magnus «sir Magnus bidtbø» he hearts your comment;)❤️
THIS IS RLLY RANDOM BUT I LOVE HOW UR " " LOOK THAT WAY 🤣
*Casually breaking world records* "That's good training!" -Magnus
Was he using the bolt hole as a mono on that slab?
Yes he was!
Thoroughly enjoy the collabs with Pete, you guys come across as the closest of friends. Such skill between the two of you, too.
I was feeling good about my self until this video served me some humble pie.
Great video
you and Pete's personalities really go well together! You have really seamless and mellow way of interacting. Hoping to see more vids of your two! Also #doitforthealgorithm
Last time I was this early Marte was a "not normal girl"
Every British climber loves Pete. The Wideboyz took him to the the global climbing community and now you're letting the world know that Mr Try Hard exists. You both deserve to be known and you're great inspiration to us all. Raaaa!
13min in, and I just want to point something out for all non-climber viewers: U see them grabing at holes in a 7A+, and sometimes it even looks pretty confy, nice and smooth. I just want u to let all know, an average person would not be even close to be able to hang in there for 2 seconds xDD. It's amazing how easy they make it look.
Had to pauze the video after the frontlever to look up Alex Megos’ beastmaker2000 sloper frontlever. He actually holds on longer than Magnus on the bar, what a beast.
Great content, as always.
yeah, I can imagine. Video link please
"These are more modern slabs"
Cuts to a shot of steep overhangs.
;)
Pete seems like such a laid back guy, but still super strong and modest. Definitely fun to watch.
If anyone can push Magnus, its Pete...and apparently vise versa. Hummmmmmm, they might make an excellent trad pair.....
Actually Pete already has the perfect trad and crack climbing partner, who can push him hard and vice versa. His name is Tom Randall.
@@szkleni , of course...wide boyz. But Magnus' and Pete's strengths are so different, but they both try soooo hard. Could be a fun match up on certain routes.
I never laughed that much seeing magnus like an upside-down turtle 😂
The fact that you got close with the one finger deadlift is crazy
Magnus has the sickest garage gym.
Also, this was the greatest backpack ad I've ever seen.
1:14 Easy for magnus, impossible for almost everyone else
I did one finger deadlifts in the gymn today. We don't have those things you used so I had to use the cable machine and attach a loop instead of a bar. I got up to 200 pounds with my middle finger (I could probably do more but the machine only went up to 200), 180 with my ring finger, 170 with my pinky, 130 with my index finger, and 80 with my thumb.
"this is easier than it looks"
well it looks impossible, so that puts it somewhere in the realm of possible.
Beast mode ON
How about a video on eating crap to be ripped?
I so love the combination of you two together :)
12:06 Hello there
I'd love to hangout with these kind of people and just have fun, compete, make friends, and get stronger at the same time! Such a good guy too it seems! Very humble and well mannered but still good sense of humor!
Speed climbing!!!
I did not expect to find Tony Fisher when I first clicked on this video lol
What the hell? I just watched your prof pyraminx video before this one.
UA-cam knows too much...
Fancy seeing you in this comment section
Tony fisher ??? Was not expecting you here
that mono on the red slab !! hilarious how unorthodox Petes style is
How the hell you didn't riped off your finger lifting that wieght?
Another great vid from Magnus! 💪🏻🔥
You guys have a pretty relaxed demeanor together. Super chill and funny!
Magnus just makes everything look so easy I just started climbing and this stuff looks hard haha
Super hero training. I literally jumped out of my seat and clapped when you did that muscle-up. And the 100 pound pull ups are awe inspiring, too. You need to test Juji on those.
Very impressed that the backpack didn´t rip!
Seeing you guys struggle to stand up with the back pack had me in tears🤣 reminded me of the army when you'd be walking for hours with weighted packs. Second you sit down you fall with the weight and can't get back up🤣
22:23 After the first attempt Magnus says "It's good training though".
The fact that Pete can do a 1 finger 1 arm pull up but struggles on a muscle up is astounding
Hey guys, I really enjoyed watching that. Magnus, you are absolutely incredible and Pete, you are so strong too, loved the laugh, had me laughing to. Incredible video, incredible skill and amazing strength. Well done guys. You should actually go for that muscle up world record, Magnus.
It was very interesting seeing the contrast in climbing styles and how madnus and pete approached the problems so differently.
9:22 Cheeky bolt hole mono...never sure if bolt holes are on or off. Always put a mental * if i send using one.
By comp rules, holes on a hold are on unless blocked. Holes on the wall itself are always off.
love the Pete + Magnus duo!! so entertaining to watch
How is it possible Magnus looks more fit now than before the Rona?
He has a gym! He never stopped doing exercises due to the rona, if anything he's practiced more than before
Magnus is what I like to call the "All Around Good Physique" because every muscle on his body is trained to work with each other. Not one other muscle he has Dominates the other. He's got what you can call balance, and sync on muscles.
Magnus should try doing a calisthenics competition
He can only do pulling
He can do one arm pull ups but not a lot more
Still remember when he said jokingly "Calisthenics is rockclimbing", when I see his frontlever I'm joking too. But I still like the guy
@Jakub Halík yup
Magnus and Pete, two wonderful mad men. Hopefully more to come in the future.Thanks.
Ngl I haven't done any exercise in 3 months and decided to do my dad's workout with my sister and I think I may have scared my neighbour... So watching this feels great :)
11:18 Note on using a hole in a hold: until 2018 holes in holds were on, now not.
* As a general rule holes for hold placements are off, but 2018 IFSC rules explicitely make exception for them (6.9.9 iv.): The attempt of a competitor on a route shall be considered unsuccessful if the competitor [...] uses with their hands any _holes provided for the placement_ of bolt-on holds, *excluding* any such hole on a bolt-on hold.
* the 2019 and 2020 rules does not make that exeption. _Any “T-Nut”placements_ provided for the fixing of artificial holds is an Artificial Aid (Glossary 2 a). You're not allowed to use them in IFSC competitions.
The tape probably keeps you from dislocating your finger..
Nah tape wouldn't prevent that
@@MoD3RnHD no shit fr
great collab with pete. this needs to keep happening in the future!
7:44 I start feeling offended here haha... just kidding
This video was hilarious, thanks for making my day haha!
How to destroy your shoulders part 1
Magnus, much appreciation for the hard work. Very inspirational. Also, tell Marte she rules as well! Much love 😻P.S. that mono hold on the slab by Pete. Awesome.
Finally back to climbing
Magnus thank you for inspiring me to do rock climbing. I recently got a member ship at a gym and I love it so far, so thank you so much.
