- I've seen a version of this that was someone filming their phone screen so I just edited this together from a version that had them all separated as episodes, as that's how Quibi formatted it on their platform.
Mostly unaltered, a few episodes had little "next time" snippets that I cut out to make it more cohesive. Thinking about editing together a version that's vertical for better mobile compatibility (since that's how it's filmed), and moving all the bloopers to the very end of the video instead of at the beginning of each episode.

Paul Rudd doing a Cary Elwes impression opposite Cary Elwes is perfection.
It's almost as good as Daniel Ratcliffe playing "Weird Al" Yankovic throwing a demo tape to Al Yankovic playing a producer!
The funniest thing about that for me was that Cary still gives me major Wesley vibes playing Humperdink in that scene: "I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase".
It was EPIC… among so many performances in this beautiful tribute.❤❤❤🎉

Honestly, if Segel had the look, I'd be sold, but I think Shaq just about has the chops for this. (After all, Andre was a wrestler. Why not a basketballer? 🙂)
I honestly can't choose between Rainn or Patton for the role of Vizzini.
Love seeing Pascal as Inigo but after how he went in GoT how do you not have him do 'You killed my father; prepare to die"?

This is the only "remake" I will accept of a perfect movie. It is made with so much love and respect from every person involved that after half an hour, you forget you're not watching the original.

It's beautiful. I didn't intended to watch as much of it as I did in one sitting, but it's just wonderful even in such a silly format. I shed a tear out of nostalgia, joy, and genuine laughter. I can't believe I just stumbled upon this gem.
The tune at the end is sung by Willy Deville from the band Mink Deville. He has passed on. His music will be with me til I pass. Stay safe. Cathy, as you wish. xox

Yeah. Cary Elwes' Wesley had some of the funniest lines in this movie, such as "Life is pain, anyone telling you differently is just trying to sell you something"
And Buttercup: "We'll never survive the fireswamp"

It blows me away that despite distinct effort to make this cheesy and campy and silly it was hysterical and engaging and the final Father son scene had me weeping. Wow!

I love the tonal whiplash of Javier Bardem and Bryan Cranston giving oscar-worthy performances followed by Paul Rudd in a wig.

Never heard of this Javier fellow before but he almost matched Mandy Patinkin, and he was screamign at the cancer which did kill his father.

Hugh Jackman using a bamboo steamer as a crown made me laugh for about five minutes. And Pedro's shorts with the cowboy boots! This is the best thing I've seen ever.

How is this not more popular? They did an absolutely fantastic job.
Quibi was a short lived broadcasting service spearheaded by Jeffrey Katzenberg, which failed to capture an audience with its high production but bite size videos.
Many speculate part of the problem is that rather than make smaller contained videos, they merely cut up larger ones.
That was, by far, the best remake of anything I have ever seen.
The love for the original was evident in every scene and everyone involved absolutely nailed it.
I can 1000% see myself watching this again.

This just shows how iconic of a movie The Princess Bride truly is. It speaks across generations and is a timeless story.

I have to say, Chris pine really caught me off guard. 😳😂 I think this is easily one of the best things to come out of the pandemic.
Some of these are almost like auditions.
The only way I would except a remake of this is if it’s Fred Savage reading the story to his kid and we get to see how they’re imagining it.
Or Muppets.
Fred Savage reading it to his grandson....while MUPPETS do the story.

Fred reads it to a classroom of kids and we see how each different kid imagines the story differently.
The ending with Carl and Rob made me burst into tears.

What I really like about Cary Elwes' performance is how carefully he matched Chris Sarandon's. He'd probably done that scene enough times to know every single movement Chris made.
Paul's impression of Wesley was perfect
His little cape tuck was absolutely perfect - straight from the movie and just as goofy and funny as the original.
"Unemployed in Greenland" was masterfully acted. Perfect recreation.

Javier Bardem's sword gags were my favorite part of this. Cary Elwes showing up made me almost cry with delight.
Jack Black climbing the stairs like Po, had me dead lol.

Jason Segel, Pedro Pascal, and Rainn Wilson really knocked it out of the park. Instead of making it their own, they went for respectful replication, and they are accurate AF. It’s really hard to do a convincing Wallace Shawn!
I'm less than a minute in and seeing Fred Savage reprise his role decades later, making the same faces he did as a kid. i'm already welling up. That is just unbelievably delightful.
I like the thought that this story is happening simultaneously across multiple universes and we're just glitching across all of them,

HOW DID I EVER MISS THIS?! This is among the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. I love how so many people out there, actors from all walks and stages and celebritydom, revere and adore The Princess Bride. It really is one of the greatest movies of all time.

You missed it because it was on Quibi, a streaming platform that was a huge flop
This whole process tells you a lot about acting types and actors playing into their strengths
It also tells you that there's nothing more instantly entertaining than a movie where _every single line_ is memorable and amusing all by itself. Flawless writing. If only more productions would keep that in mind, without the writing you have *nothing.* and with it, you have everything. a bunch of people in their houses with their phones can pull it off.
Some of these folks did absolutely amazing. Others didn't get that they're second to the original
Patton Oswalt reminds me of his Parks and Rec, where he does a Star Wars filibuster, it's very funny and I think he's a real nerd.
@@KairuHakubi Part of it is the great editing. I like Princess Bride but what I don't like about the plot is that Wesley let Buttercup believe he's dead while he becomes a thief.

This came up in my recommendations. How could I say no to the Princess Bride? Was cheering when Cary Elwes played the villain and got a little teary when I saw Carl and Rob Reiner. THIS WAS FABULOUSLY WELL DONE!

The only remake that could work would behave to avoid live action. But I f it was done in plasticine or puppets, with voices as per the original, that could possibly work

And the weirdest thing; I haven't even gotten around to seeing the original yet, and despite that they had me hooked for this. Such a cute and heartwarming thing to do - and the ending teared me up. Now off to see the original...
I feel like Jennifer Garner pretty much captured the insanity we all felt during lock down. Including creating a social gathering with your kids stuffed animals.
Seth Rogen and Ari Graynor did absolutely perfect versions of Miracle Max and Valerie! Their voices were spot on but it didn’t seem forced

Too many "OMG, that's hysterical" moments to count, but so far my favorite is Patton as Vizzini. The Battle Of Wits is priceless.

I believe the Quibi broadcast of this was the absolute last thing that Carl Reiner gave us. It was a sweet note for him to go out on and I'm so glad his son Rob got him to pitch in.

I didn't realize Diego Luna was in this when I watched it during the pandemic, but now I'm a huge Andor fan so I was super stoked to see him here and rewatch!
The love for The Princess Bride stretches far and wide and it's lovely to see. I have to say that I think there are some amazing impressions going on in this, with some that are surprising (Brandon Routh and Paul Rudd were uncanny Carys and Ari Graynor is simply Carol Kane reborn) and others that are just delightful to see (who wouldn't crack a smile at the Reiners playing grandson and grandad at the end?). But even in a loving pastiche like this in which everyone is playing it fairly tongue in cheek, the actor cameo that steals the show is Bryan Cranston. He makes a simple impression of Christopher Guest into something next level amazing. The line delivery is right on. Anyway, great video!
The cheesier the costumes and props, the better it is! This is pure gold!

This could be viewed as the best audition/casting call from a remake of a classic film that the public has ever had the privilege to witness. You get so many choices of who your favourite cast members to pick from.
I loved each and every person and the job they did. All the family members and friends were fantastic. A special shout out to the person or people who created the Lego scenes.
John Hamm using Hamm's Beer glasses is something I missed on my first watch (24:40). Love it! Also, Patton and John absolutely killed one of my favorite scenes of all time. :)

I love how this was made during Covid, which is why very few of the actors are in the same place, yet it still works! Literally the best thing to come out of Covid.
Inside and Folklore are both strong contenders for "best thing to come out of COVID" but this is a solid third place.
Kaitlyn Dever breaking the fourth wall with that "I'm not left-handed either" was SPECTACULAR.
