That isn't Northern CA, more correctly it is Central CA.

“Northern California comprises the northern portion of the U.S. state of California, spanning the northernmost 48 of the state's 58 counties.”

@@TrailTime. Nonsense, you don't call 82% of an area "northern" and 18% "southern", at least divide it 50/50. But that is totally discounting that there is a "central" area as well. Northern California is more like north of Lake Tahoe or something like that.

They have to thin the forests in the winter and burn off the brush then. Millions of acres need treated.
But the state doesn't want the forests thinned. They closed down almost all the waste wood to energy power plants.
So people lose property and sometimes die because of state policy to let the forest grow.

Emery body wants the grasslands mowed and forests and shrub lands thinned! Most of the state employees live in fire county near Sacramento. But everyone understands the need to thin brush on their land. This fire burned oak woodland, 99% on private property. People out west thin brush, trim trees and mow for at least 100’ from homes. Most already do more. Over time, we will replace flammable siding and roofs with concrete and steel. Over time, every one of our roads will be a 100’ firebreak.

This is no forest. It is brush and tall grass and boats and tarps and piles of wood. Some people maintain it but most don't. Look this one up on Maps 37°29'21.2"N 119°58'07.4"W and you will see what it is like. No commercial value just junk land with no water.

Blame the Saudis, Exxon and the other corrupt oil and coal cartels! The fossil fuels they produce are heating up the planet to the point where our forests, grass and shrublands are ready to burn!
