- Fellow Welshman, Rhys Ifans, joins Rob as they discuss Rhys’ affinity to err on the side of danger, both in his work and personal life, and how that has shaped where he is today. He reminisces about his first movie appearance with the great Sir Anthony Hopkins and remembers the time he gave Rob two tickets to see him in A Christmas Carol, only to realise whilst on stage that Rob had brought the one and only Sir Tom Jones as his plus one!

Ah, there's more! How did I manage to miss this giant, pinned post? (rhetorical question) I've always said that the only thing better than an interview with a Welshman is an interview with two of them. Holds true. Also, I am horribly envious that you got to see Rhys in "A Christmas Carol". Thank you for sharing this video. It made me smile a lot.

I could listen to this man talk for years. He was in my brothers class at school and he was scary to me then. The north n south welsh are different, we aren’t as sophisticated as the south. And that’s saying something! Ha. He’s such a good actor with amazing presence. Still has the danger. A true real north welsh character. Plus he’s dead right about Rhyl!

I’m from Rhyl. Born and raised there (although I went to high school in Prestatyn). The characterisation of the place is pretty bang on, it will always be home though. I’ve moved away now since going to uni and it must be said I miss the place somewhat and always look forward to going back.
I love hearing two Welshman, especially actors, shooting the breeze together. I'm watching on a sunny Friday afternoon in Austin, TX, and you're so far away, and yet at the same time, in the same room. Magic!

Rhys is just a gem of an actor he fits both gloves of playing a bad sinister guy or quite easily slip into a comedy role...he is a very versatile in any of them genera's

What a funny genuine guy Rhys is, loved him in Twin Town and Mr Nice.
Loved Twin Town it's one of my most favourite films. Saw his band perform in a village hall (soon after his break up with Sienna Miller) and he came back to pub with everyone. A genuine nice guy, he really is so down-to-earth.

This guy is the coolest actor in the world, and funny. You know Burton, Harris and O’Toole were good friends and got pissed together quite a bit. I know Rhys speaks Welsh, i cant speak any being Irish, but its a very beautiful language, and our languages are related and our dna. And long live Owain Glyndwr!

Ohhh the whole (interview/) lovely chat, was just so great. Thank you to Mr. Brydon & Mr. Ifans. The whole wetsuit anecdote, at the end, had me in stitches. If Rhys had, sadly, Passed Away in a tight wetsuit. The World would have been bombarded with scene pictures of him playing Spike in the 1999 'Nottinghill' film. 🥺💔😍

Ironically that would have been the best way to insult the audience member in question.

Back in the late 80's, I'd hitchhike down the M1 with a fellow art student (Leeds) - to hang at various squats with the St Martin's crowd (who were far more hardcore than us).... It was a different world back then

Shout out to Rhyl Sun Centre! I went there as a child in the 80s and it seemed like I had travelled into the future, with those chairs on a track running around the ceiling and indoor wave pool. Good times.

Rhys has been in a ton of stuff, and I'm sure I'm in the minority here but, my favourite movie he's in is The Replacements. It's hilarious! And he's awesome in it.
