I really like the way you teach things, you're just clear when you talk and you give different ways to do things and give your opinion on them. I liked how you said "you won't fall so don't worry about that" its nice for someone to reassure beginners because I'm sure a lot of people may have been a little scared by that, but yeah, you're awesome :)
This and MU Tutorial 2.0 were the only vids on whole YT that actually really helped me making a MU. Perfect analytic approach to the MU "anatomy", outsanding work!
I can do a legit one arm chin up and I have watched many muscle up tutorials on youtube, but I have great difficulty doing muscle ups be it on rings or bars. I have been trying to do muscle ups for months to no avail, but after seeing your video, I did my first ever muscle up in my life on a bar with momentum today, and then did another 6 easily without momentum. Your technique really works thanks alot!!! I love all your vids.
finally!! i did one!! it took me a week, i was hoping to do it in two weeks because thats how long my break is and wanted to get it in that time, i was so determined to do it... got discouraged many times as i failed... i tried again and again, untill i got one arm by one arm, i was so happy! :P, but knew it wasnt a proper muscle up, i kept trying so hard untill i got it earlier today. btw i could do 22 proper form pullups, it took me 2months to get from 4pullups to 22. good luck guys! :)
Completed one yesterday after days and days of re watching this and training.. finally got 2 consecutive "MU's" today. Cheers Paul keep up the good work!
That's the truth I applaud your effort and the fact that for whatever reason you decided to SHARE your technique IN DETAIL with us. Thanks for a truly informative video AND yeah your little sister is BAD ASS, she never gave up and did her Muscle Up!!!
hey same here i just did my first muscle up about a week ago..i had been able to do the beginner muscle ups for awhile, but could never do an actual muscle up until i watched this video, so thanks. i see you have a tutorial up for levers too, thats my next goal!
many many thx to u bro. I did my first muscle up just one week after I watched ur vid. what I really like in ur videos is that u explain everything and step by step.
Just got my first muscle up today (plus 3 or 4 with wobbly form). They were much harder to learn than I anticipated! I have to swing a lot to get up there but i'll work on it. Thanks for your help.
hey man. i came across your channel and your videos are to the point and great advise. I watched this video and your others and i did my first muscle up the other day all because your tips. Now i am up to 3 sets of 4-5 after 3 days or learning. cheers man. keep the videos coming.
Nice one. I love the Andreas Aguilar muscle-up. I have seen people saying they can do muscle-ups just using lots of momentum. I call it the swing-it-up.
Great tutorial.! Just to clarify something... The perfect time to twist the wrists up is exactly after the moment that your body is moving up with at the highest speed. At this exact moment the elbows are at the same level with the bar and the time that you change from pulling to pushing. It's when you put the least of your weight on the bar.
Ouch, I've never experienced such. Please rest and do not put any strain on it. It happened from weak joints (obviously, as you know), your joints strengthen when they are used with light-moderate exercise. That is why I recommend doing 20-25 good form pullups before beginning the muscle up - that way your joints can take the pressure.
Thanks Paul for a good tutorial, and I've watched a bunch-I just put a pullup and parallel bars in my back yard, so I'm too tired from digging holes and cementing to try your tips out today. But I know it will help-glad to see you drop a bit on the negative muscle up-I drop like a stone-Cheers, Chris
I didn't say slow. If I was capable of doing a slow rise pull-up to my stomach then I'd be more than capable of doing a muscle up. BTW I actually did my first muscle up three days ago. I'm now at two in a row before I can no longer do the transition from pull up to dip. Paul is the one that inspired me to start doing bar workouts and other calisthenics so THANK YOU PAUL.
You're too humble when saying that your MU is not perfect! You're really impressive and all your videos are great!! Btw, this is my first comment on YT, only to say: thank you!
i just started training this week. New beginner, can barely make it over the bar haha. i can do about 10 pullups in a row any given day so ya. Ill susbcribe for sure and watch all your tutorials. It will be a while until I actually have the strength to do all this. Thanks!
hey, I would just like to thank you so much because I can finally do a muscle up. This video is a great guide on technique and form. Thank you so much.
Miss you Paul . I hope you are still working out . I'm 45 and I watch your vids . I'd love to see you & post your workout videos . Best wishes from Poland 🇵🇱
@TheMassacre1OO closer is much harder, trains the same muscle group, but you must have explosive strength to do those. Regular muscle ups do not require explosive strength.
Best tutorial ever! Thanks a lot! Now I know what I was doing wrong!! I can do 15 high pull ups and about 15 dips too and I was so mad that i couldnt get the muscle up right! then I watched this and i realized the problem was my wrists ! I wasnt turning them! thats why i couldnt go from pull up to dip!
The kind of training that you do is very much what is needed to be a fantastic arm wrestler. A lot of isometric holds and pullups (especially one handed) not only produce muscle but also make the tendons in the arm extremely strong. Using more of the palm of your hand for those muscle ups also make your forearms and wrists (and again, wrist tendons) very strong. You ought to look into the serious side of arm wrestling.
Hey Paul awesome instructional videos. You have an incredible number of views for your videos. How did you do it? I have a video of me squatting double bodyweight for 24 reps which no one in the world has more reps on video and I've only had 1600 hits in 5 years LOL. Congrad. you are amazing!! Gene
I just did my first muscle ups today. I'm 47 years old and it took me 6 months but I got them. Watching your muscle up videos helped get me motivated.
Get the fuck out here, that little girl just did a muscle up. Now I have to do this.
Remember she's Russian
noah price what a reply hahahaha
those muscle ups are not good for your shoulder so dont do it NEVER
Mr. ChokesOnDinck true my friend got enjured like that..
tubehax that was not a muscle up. That's what we call shoulder snappers, really bad for the shoulders and you learn the wrong technique.
This video hit me straight facts AND nostalgia. Great tutorial, i am watching all the videos of the channel.❤
I really like the way you teach things, you're just clear when you talk and you give different ways to do things and give your opinion on them. Shes lighter , it may be easier. But I still cant do one either :(

Completed one yesterday after days and days of re watching this and training.. finally got 2 consecutive "MU's" today.
Cheers Paul keep up the good work!
Quite a good tutorial, should've probably got a perfect muscle up before you made it though.

Thanks for the great tutorial! I did my first muscle ups today, and the tip about swinging forward and using momentum really helped!
Great video!
the most complete tutorial on the muscle-up I've seen yet, even talking about the false grip.
Nice, really nice.
Nice one. I love the Andreas Aguilar muscle-up. I have seen people saying they can do muscle-ups just using lots of momentum. I call it the swing-it-up.
did my first muscle-up today! thanks to the vid. took me 2 mos but you definitely feel like a champ once you're at the top of the bar.
Great tutorial.! Just to clarify something...
