Love the coverage of architecture. It’s a major inspiration for my art. Before I became a Sculptor, I bought and remodeled a 1919 schoolhouse. Pretty much because it reminded me so much of a Frank Lloyd Wright prairie house. You can see it’s Z*llow listing at 5100 East Highway 14 Fort Collins, Colorado. The night pictures around number 52 are the best. 10 years of my life into remodeling on that piece. I guess I got to play up being an architect and up, building my own gallery space, which I never got to use. Now I make a little pieces of architecture called sculptures. However, I’m no Ando.
I am fond of Ando, you can see the indebtedness to le Corbusier in his earlier houses, though imbued with a Japanese sensibility. His internal open spaces remind me of the old traditional houses in Kyoto. Narrow and deep with central open garden rooms for contemplation and light. More architecture and design! 👏👏👏
Amazing. I know I'm a know it all been there done that pain in the ass... Mention a name and I've got a story.... What I love about this channel is how Christopher introduces me to amazing artists and architects I've somehow missed. Discovery is one of the best things about a life in the creative arts. There are two downsides to this. There are the people 'everybody knows,' and the list gets tighter and more rigid year after year, and there are the people who are being over hyped. (Flip thought any glossy art magazine and look at the ads.) Christopher has found the sweet spot.
It was a satisfying watch Beautifu buidings particuary the church but i see spaces in the museum that surey are dust magnets and hard t reach And i wnder whether wheechair users get t enjy the grand entry t the Warh prtrait
Yep ... but let's face it, Bjarke Ingels will surpass Ando by the age of 60. Normally, the big boys don't even peak 'til their late 70's or 80s. Ingels has produced work equal to the biggest names walking since he hung his shingle at 32. In 2100, Bjarke Ingels will be looked back upon as the architectural prodigy of the century. Watch.
Traditional Japanese architecture worshipped both the light AND THE DARKNESS.
Excellent point.
This channel just keeps getting better
Wow! Thanks so much 🙏
Love seeing you sneak some architectural goodness into your art critiques!
I’ve got something on Cbus in the works!
Talking architecture do you think you’d ever do a video of the goat architect Norman Foster? 👌🏻👌🏻
Interesting as Usual
I really appreciate it. Thank you!
0:25 😮 okay you got me attention
Excellent!
With Ando, just like Frank Lloyd Wright, not every project was a home run. Some of them didn't even round all of the bases.
Thanks for the comment. And I think that’s probably true for most architects.

Love this comment. Wish I had your skill!

They make me totally want a courtyard in my own house!

This means a lot. Thank you 🙏
I bet this concrete even smells different
I wouldn’t be surprised!

They do have elevators, but certainly a different experience.
I knew Kanye was a bit crazy, but throwing away that much money to destroy a work of art is astonishing!
It’s like everything he does pisses me off!
He’s a genius artist
@@foobully So, the destruction of the architecture was performance art. Quite a take.
@@Nashvillain10SE it would be quite a take but it isn’t what I said
How the heck did he go from boxing to buildings? Big gap to fill.
I tried a lot of things before I figured out I like art!

Watch.
I’ll be watching! I do like his work.
