  • Waterden Road (WA)
Located in (surprise) Waterden Road, Hackney.
Waterden Road opened on 26th June 2004, Stagecoach East London had regained the contract to operate the 25 from First London, as part of the award it was converted to bendy bus, but a new base was required to accommodate the longer vehicles.
The revised 25 was now a 24 hour route, there were changes to the N8 and new route N86 was introduced.
Waterden Road was next door to the First London operated Hackney (H) and a few hundred yards from the Stagecoach garage called Stratford (SD).
Waterden Road was now where the vehicles used for driver training were based.
The site had been used as a distribution depot by Hackney Council.
In 2005 the special operations/private hire fleet moved from Romford to Waterden Road from 27th September - RML 2665, 2760, T1, Olympians 16001-003 and coaches 52022/23, 52217/19.
A new ‘Heritage Operation’ commenced on Monday 14th November, Stagecoach were awarded the 15 (Trafalgar Square - Tower Hill) using RM from WA, the 9 (Royal Albert Hall - Aldwych) was awarded to First London who operated from Westbourne Park - internally TfL referred to these as 9H and 15H.
This is also the most likely date for the transfer of the LC1 and LC2 from SD to WA along with Darts 34182-89, 34191-97.
In 2006 all the London TfL operations of Stagecoach were sold to Macquarie Bank on 30th August - it was now named East London Bus Group but continued as East London and Selkent.
The award of the 2012 Olympics to London resulted in compulsory purchase orders for much of the surrounding area, this included the whole of Waterden Road.
In 2007 the 15 moved to Bow from 22nd September.
Waterden Road closed at the end of traffic on 28th December, from 29th December the operation of the 25 moved to a new site in Rainham (RM) - although this had been used by First London during the construction of High Speed 1 which would have made access to their existing garage in Dagenham inconvenient.
