I backed the kickstarter for this, my group and I were pretty pumped, then we played it. We hated it, then I did a bunch of BGG searching and figured out that we were playing almost everything wrong. the next 3 games went a lot better and we had a lot of fun, but the kind of fun you have watching a goofy or bad movie. It became a running joke to have a person who wasn't taking their turn looking for rules in the rulebook or BGG forums. If anyone plays this I would suggest playing a solo game with 4 proxy players and try crazy things, so when they come up in the real game you at least know where to look for the answer. It's not a very well written rulebook and the game itself is so pumped full of all these different crazy rules that it takes a few plays to get to passable understanding. Once there it was an alright game that we had some serious fun with, but it's such a chore to learn.

Thanks for the review Rob. I have played it now and would agree with you. The rule book wasn't the best but the game was fun enough.

Rob...while I'm not a "dungeon crawl", the game had some OK elements. It reminds me of "Gears of Wars" or "Space Hulk". As a fiction writer, I liked the story concept... I can see your point about it not being amazing... thanks for the review.

Surprised to find you didn't show any of the miniatures that you said come with the game. Did i miss something?

Nope they are not included in the base game. The mini's are separate and IMHO not worth the cost. I have nearly everything for this game and feel basically the same as Rob, it is good, and it marries many other games together like Arkham/Eldritch Horror, Fortune and Glory, Betrayal at House on the Hill to name a few and it has a few new mechanics and the dice are super cool (not enough come in the base game, but one dice pack plus the base game gives you 20 which is about enough). It all works, but it is a bit fidgety and there is a lot going on, and a lot to keep track of. This is not for a casual gamer. The rulebook for 1st edition (I didn't back 2nd edition) was not great and earlier versions had the covers of the rulebook and storybook transposed (although backers got correct versions included in our pledges, the retail did not have that luxury to my knowledge). The stories are cool the adventure/misadventure cards add a decent amount of theme, but it takes a long time and you need a really big table the more people who play. Good game, but not without some flaws 7 out of 10 for me.
