This is one of my favorite songs but it was ruined by all the stupid OMGS I'm also really disappointed because this gig was in my town and I can't believe how some people don't have the respect to be quit and just listen the artist talent especially to someone like ed. Girls I know you're all excited to see him but some of the screams are really unnecessary.

frenchdreamer the microphone on the right is connected to the loop pedal, the mic on the left is just going through the monitors. a loop pedal can be set to begin recording/playing its loops by pressing it once and then you can stop the recording but allow it to keep playing the loop by pressing it again, or it can be set it constantly loop whatever's sung into it. the advantage of the first method is that you can loop something, then press the pedal and play or sing something without it repeating, then press the pedal again to add more to the loop, then play more melody, etc etc. but in order to get it to match up you have to time your pressing the pedal perfectly, which is tricky, especially with a sparse song, and getting it wrong once will ruin the whole thing since you can't always take away one loop without taking the others with it. so instead he starts the loop with his beat in the beginning, then lets it cycle over and over to keep the timing aligned with itself, while singing the melody into a separate mic that's not looping. hope this made sense
nah man, sorry, but you are wrong. when you do the first loop, it starts to repeat itself, but when you add a layer on it, you can press the pedal a little earlier, and it only starts recording when the prime loop starts again, you don't have to be precise with your foot in order to match later layers. i think he only uses two mics so he don't have to adjust the volume on one. or that way he can loop a guitar while singing in the independent mic
you're right, it's been a while since i used one (mine literally melted), i have no idea what i was thinking when i wrote that. but you can't you change the volume on the pedal without changing the volume through the PA?
Michael Ian Ross you can change the volume on the pedal, but you would need to kneel down and turn the knob down, which would be really inconvenient
