I always loved the concept of Shadar Logoth and how it was used _AGAINST_ the Shadow... as a trap for shadow spawn, a refuge, a trap for a Forsaken, and to cleanse Saidin.... it reveals the weakness of 'evil' in a philosophical sense. In theory, the Shadow is unified under the Dark One... in practice the Forsaken plot against each other. Selfishness, hunger for power, greed...these factors inevitably turn evil against evil. Shadar Logoth was created indirectly by the Shadow... a reaction to it. Over reaction really.... evil spawned by evil that hates the evil that spawned it. Ultimately this seperate evil was manipulated into a weapon against the Shadow. It's a metaphor for the overt example of the Forsaken scheming against each other instead of genuinely cooperating.... it's the weakness of the dark and selfish path. Always has been, always will be.
We're at the most, 30 days from a trailer. Can not wait for all the wheel of time content posted by all the fans, so excited to drown myself in this new turning of the wheel that Rafe is brining to life.
Shadar Logoth, creeps me out every time I read about it. I cannot wait to see how it is treated in the Amazon series. Thanks for your continued great content!
For what we'll probably see in season 1 Shadar Logoth is one of the parts I'm most excited for. I hope it's done well and is most if not all of an episode
One of the questions about Shadar Logoth I've been wondering recently is... where did Mordeth come from? He wasn't from there, he appeared and caused this destruction in an relatively short amount of time. I'm so curious about his origin story, was he something more than human to begin with? He is a different sort of evil than the Dark One, so I feel like he can't have been Shadowspawn if that was true, but... I dunno, I'm so so curious about him.
Great video. The horror aspects of Shadar Logoth, what it _is_ and how it came to be are terrifying. The whole soul stealing body possession power with Mordeth only heightens the fear factor. I really hope that the crew in particular the writers for the show try to give Fain his due in this turning of the Wheel, that villainous persona has serious potential that should be tapped into.
So much potential screen fodder for use Here. Very uncertain how effectively it will be utilised given what we've seen in dribs & drabs so far. Fingers crossed for a surprise! Thanks for the distillation mate. Nicely put together.
Have waited a long time to see Shadar Logoth on the screen, and the picture we got this week is perfect. I'm very pleased. Now to see how they have envisioned Mashadar!
Please keep up the great quality videos. I really like that your videos have minimal ad interruption. I don't mind 3 ads the the beginning. You keep a great "balance" to the one power.
Great video! I always wondered if the Pattern knew one of the three taveren would have to leave with the dagger, and because of Mat’s luck it was actually the only way as Perrin or Rand would have died in a flicker type change. As you show, this is extreme evil, ie IT or Carnage level, to mix universes. Hope we get cinematic horror a few times each season, but especially SL and🤞 Padan Fain nails it.
I love learning about WOT history! Great video. Looking forward to seeing this city brought to life. Also…I wonder if it’s possible that the believed Lake that will form in this crater will still have some residence of evil to it.
Your analysis and presentation is always the great. Thanks Nae'Blis. I can't wait to see the show and find out how all this is presented. Look forward to that analysis as well.
Spoiler Now that it's a crater and soon to be lake, I can't help but image new settlers coming to build a new city. Why not, it has good land, a big lake to build on and even a major trade river right next to it. The only reason not to build is its dark history and it seems like only scholars and Aes Sedai are the only ones that remember it. The Lake City might be able to enjoy a long period of independence due to no one wanting to conquer haunted land, instead content just to trade with it lightly.
Mashadar and Machin'Shin (or w/e) are both two evils that exist independently of the Dark One. Although I suppose it could be argues that the Black Wind was born from the taint (hehe) because, unless I remember wrong, the Ways were a gift to the Ogier from specifically male Aes Sedai who took refuge in their steddings? And don't act like you didn't already have a Machin'Shin/Ways video cooked up and ready to serve when we get there in the show
Not to be picky... but the Aiel maiden didn't die until his fight with Samiel. He kills her and him with BF. but yes... the city always creeped me out.
I'm glad to see one of your regular videos again and not another Jupiter sized grain of sand news video. Anymore when those appear I simply tell UA-cam to hide them from my subscription list.
Is that a canonical map of the AoL? I understood there wasn't one. The Shadar Logoth story is a good example of the maddening refusal of WoT to make anything clear. What did the people of Shadar logoth actually DO? (Apart from chopping off Caar's hand?) And how were their actions different from the actions of other nations facing a war of extermination by Shadowspawn and Darkfriends?
Well I'm so glad with the spoiler alert at the beginning lol. I am a new reader and only half way through the first book. Just read about shadar logoth but was a little confused by it so I wanted to understand. But I'm guessing I'll understand after reading almost the whole series hahahaha aren't there 14? And I have to wait till I'm on the 11th to get my questions answered lol
But anyway I saw the first season they made and fell in love with then as soon as I finished the last episode I went out and bought the first book the same day! Three days ago! Lol I was so happy to learn about how big the books are and how many there are. Because when a story ends its always my least favorite. Then I go crazy thinking about what the characters are doing afterwards lol
You left out that if it becomes a lake, what kind of fish are going to be in it & what kinds of lures they'll bite on... =) I'm really looking forward to the show, though with not a little trepidation as well given how they're totally ruined fantastic stories lately. Really hope these concerns are unfounded and the show is as incredible as I hope.
@@NaeBlis ❤️ awesome!! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for it haha love your videos heaps as I'm one of the type of people who once I find something I love I go 10000000% overboard with finding info on it and your vids have been extremely informative for me 😊
You know, now that I think about how it has already been mentioned that Shadar Logoth is only in 15 minutes of the series, it would make sense that they cut Mordeth. After all, his arch sucked in the books after Jordan passed. Just my opinion.
I hope they don't cut him though. He doesn't do that much during the Shadar Logoth sequence anyway. And that could be something they change later, how Mordeth's story ends that is.
@@zgeist2861 that was kinda my point. When rand has this huge goal of killing or resisting the 13 forsaken and all the shadow spawn as a focal point of the books, adding in yet another antagonist that just isn’t as relevant or impactful just takes away from the story. I frequently found myself speed skimming through anything fain/mordeth related in the books because it just took away from the larger more urgent plot lines

@@NaeBlis lol, I just think that's hilarious. Anyway, Shadar Logoth was always suuuuuper creepy to me in the books. The fact that it had a purpose made it interesting, since cursed cities don't often have much to do with a story's plot much of the time.

That never occurred to me.

Agreed. Something we don’t have a good answer to
I have a vague impression that he was one of Ishy boo boo’s plots but I can’t remember any details🤷🏻♂️
Mordeth is one thing I wish we got more info on.

That’s interesting. He came from there originally?
