I love the “All responses must be oral” for so many reasons.
    1. It’s exactly how I think and what I would do.
    2. The attorney asks the second question after receiving the response to the first.
    3. What other kind of response could there be to ‘What school did you attend?’ that isn’t spoken? Flashing numbers with your fingers? Tapping morse code on the stand?

I don't know the context, but it seems the witness was being a little uncooperative, so they were probably giving noncommittal answers like shrugging, making an "idk" sound, or just not answering. In the lawyer's attempt to get them to give more direct answers, this clip was born. That's my theory, at least

It's not just for that question. It's for all of them, including yes/no questions, at which point someone can simply nod or shake their head. This doesn't work as the court reporter needs to write down what is said, and a non-verbal response would not be able to be recorded.

Edit: I usually do this when it comes to math, I can speed-run the test in less than or around 1/3 the time allowed (while having not studied at all, missing my textboook for the entire year, and being zoned out for 80% of the lessons) with little to no mistakes but I’ll completely fail if I try to take the solution and put it into a properly-structured sentence.

Some of these may seem stuipid I atleast imagine lawyers are taught to basically never leave anything to some ones imagination, spell everything out. Course some of them are still.
Such as with susan being called cathy, maybe a jury member isn't paying full attention although this sounds like a civil court issue.

I mean, couldn't someone possibly have their nose broken so badly that the entirety of the bone matter has to be replaced? At that point one could argue it's not the same nose anymore, at least as far as breaking it is concerned, since you don't "break" the soft tissue
