An exhilarating journey of six friends with a shared passion for discovering and recording musicians in their living environments. This project will be the sharing of a special experience in which we hope you will want to participate.
Some of the musicians are established and famous, others are among the brilliant budding talent that adorns Pakistan’s musical scene. Each of the mehfils has a distinct atmosphere and mood, but there is a common thread. We asked each of the musicians to stay close to their respective inherited musical traditions, allowing the singers an opportunity to present some pieces that are rarely heard today.
We are inspired to present the brilliance of this contemporary Pakistani vocal music to a wider audience and seek your financial assistance in making this possible.

Folks please take the time to read Musab's translation in full. You will particularly appreciate the whole Laila Majnun qissa a lot more. Also the actual Punjabi bol become obvious. Akhtar Atta qawwal has done a wonderful job of presenting it in the traditional Heer tarz and then shifting back to the Qissa e Gham tarz.

I really don't know what is there in this qawwali that every time I hear it, it takes me to a different divine level especially the soft and pious voice of Ustad Akhtar Atta Sahib and the violin played so beautifully and flawlessly by Shehzad Ali. Allah aapko aur taraqqi de.

Better if we keep atleast this music out of ur politics. Being not from Kashmir many like me also like these renditions more than anything, bcz it is common heritage of Indo-Pak cultural legacy. Though bcz of growing fundamentalism all of this is being threatened.. U kno where.

Kashmir came only aftr 1947, the fundamentalism causing lakhs of death worldover & in Indian subcontinent is way old in history of many centuries even when there was No america etc. Partition- Kashmir are all subsets of tat basic issue. If u shun fundamentalism & learn values of acceptance of opposite views & peaceful coexistence, all things will get sort out. U with ur real bloody hands hv No right to preach others.
