The Inheritance Cycle, is in early development at the streamer. Eragon, which was previously adapted into a 2006 feature film of the same name, counts among the four books set to form the basis of the Disney Plus production. The Inheritance Cycle tells the tale of a young farm boy who, after discovering a mysterious dragon egg, learns to become the fabled Dragon Rider, a powerful warrior destined to save the land of Alagaësia from its evil king. This would be amazing as an animated series. Sadly, nobody makes animated adaptations, which really pisses me off XD
I like to think the only times Galbatorix ever lost his composure (aside from when the final battle at the end of Inheritance swung out of his control) was when Murtagh let Eragon go free after he defeated him at the Battle of the Burning plains, circumventing Galbatorix's magic that forced obedience, and whenever Galbatorix got updates on Roran. Roran had no magic and no dragon. He was just one guy. And yet he fought off the Ra'zac, motivated a small village to fend off an entire company of soldiers, traversed the Spine when Galbatorix's own army couldn't, lit the entire Teirm docks on fire, helped a known spy of the Varden go into hiding, added about 200 new recruits to the Varden, killed close to 200 men on his own in a single battle and conquered a city with a garrison of thousands with only 800 men.
Like seriously, Galbatorix may have been angry at Murtagh after Eldest but he at least understood how Murtagh had tricked him. But every time Galbatorix heard about Roran he must have been thinking "What hacks has this man downloaded and where the hell do I get them because this is some BS."

To be fair. I love what disney did with the star wars TV shows they released. The Star Wars sequels OK not so much. The TV shows they make though are pretty good from what I wat he'd so far.
Eragon going woke would be the final nail in the coffin for Disney in my books. I'm hoping eragon is done faithfully in regards to the books. If disney messes it up though and makes it woke. I will go out of my way to make sure disney does get a cent from my pocket and I will try my best to make sure none of my family do either

I used to love Eragon when I was a kid. I’d also liked that Avril Lavigne song Keep Holding On at the movies end credits!
I want a good adaptation and I simply do not think for one second that Disney is the company that can give it to us. Amazon or HBO maybe. MAYBE. But Amazon's track record for adaptations is shaky and HBO already has a dragon show that will keep them occupied for at least another decade. Honestly I'd prefer no adaptation over another bad one. And no, Netflix is not the answer. We've seen what they did with the Witcher. They are not even allowed in this conversation.
I was beyond excited when I read it was getting a show ....then heartbroken when I read it would be from Disney....Now Eragon is going to be cast as a black lesbian female 😒
I also don't trust Netflix to make it a clean movie. But, I think that maybe DreamWorks or Warner Bros. could make it a good movie

I’m such a fan of Eragon and the all the books , I’m excited about them making a show , but I’m also worried , if they can focus on the story and keep all the politics and propaganda out of the show , it could turn out ok , but if they choose to focus only on inclusion instead of the story , which Disney totally does , it will turn out like all the other stuff and be a failure ! Please don’t ruin it for me , keep the politics for politicians , leave entertainment alone , people want to enjoy the fantasy , not live in the bullshit we are dealing with everyday in our country !

Now that I’ve read the Murtagh book, I really want to see that adapted into a movie. But since it’s a follow-up, the full Inheritance cycle would probably have to be brought on screen first for that to happen.
I'd love to see a better portrayal of the magic system. The movie got the basics down but missed a lot of the finer details, like tasks done with magic taking just as much energy as it would if you did it by conventional means and the importance of magically protecting your mind from invasion.
I don't see how this could be a good idea since they will never find another young actor as talented or beautiful as Ed Speleers. The writing may have ruined the film back then, which is a shame, but actors are everything and I feel like it would just be empty without a great central character to drive the story.
$250 million sounds pretty good when you compare it to todays absolute garbage! Disney still pushed out movies that LOSE 100million
First the movie was ok not the awesome movie of the year but the dragon models and actors were in the right place but should have put work in directing and script.

It's was... very average, when the books are EPIC. Love the model of the dragons and... some if the actors. Costumes. Mostly hated and content that was adapted from book to movie 10%. Rest its all crap in the movie.

You forgot to mention that Brom looks nothing like he does in the books and Arya not only looks completely different but acts out of character too.... that was what upset me the most
Eragon original was absolutely amazing, I just know the remake will be a disgrace ....
I honestly never lost the love for this series. Paolinis world of Alagaesia truly is one of the most amazing fantasy worlds out there. When the movie came out I left the cinema in shock, seeing Arya with the wrong haircolor, Brom entirely different from how he was described and those Ra'zac truly were aweful. Where did the beaks go? Also Urgals that have been perfectly described by the time the movie came up, so anyone would know in detail what exactly those look like. Not to mention the battle of Tronjheim being out in the open.... What idiot would change this amazing location? Breaking the entire thing. Without all those mistakes it would have been a success no doubt and we could have seen all the books adapted into movies by now.
Please do the remake and finally get the shame off of this amazing series. I will watch it the moment it airs. But stick to the descriptions this time. Can't be so hard to find actors who actually match the correct haircolor or give them some fake hair. What would get me really angry however, would be an ultra woke adaptation, hope Paolini wont let that happen. I truly dont want to see a black transgender Eragon falling in love with a nonbinary Arya and pledging allegiance to "ens Nasuadens", befriending Orik and Hrothgar not being dwarves. Remember even their actual size is described, stick to it or at least make them significantly smaller than humans and elves, thats the whole purpose. Just like Urgals stand way taller than both.
And do not change locations of the end battle, how could Saphira mend Isidar Mithrin if the star sapphire was never broken???? That's an essential piece of the plot.
I don't trust Disney with this given their track record of late, but IF they learned from their mistakes(BIG IF) and they do this one right, then I will be more optimistic for when they do the Prydain Chronicles which is very dear to me. In the movie, the Urgals were hornless, elves didn't have tipped ears, the mountains weren't staggeringly high as Paolini described in an interview(10 miles high), Saphira just magically ages into full maturity by flying up into the sky. That's really to say the least, but I mean if Disney avoids those and pays very good attention to detail, they've at least started in a right direction. I guess the best hope will be how much direction they take from Paolini exec producing.

This should have never been made as a movie, it should have been a series or even better a mini series.

This is a chance for Disney to turn around. These books are some of the best I’ve ever read.
I've been re reading them recently just for old times sake and it absolutely deserves to have a show to fix the atrocity that was the movie
I actually think it could work better as a series for the simple reason that the writers would have more time to flesh things out. And from what I hear Chris Paolini is actually heavily involved this time so there's at least a chance that this could make up for the movie. The Percy Jackson series, while certainly not without its deviations, has been pretty good so far in my opinion, so there's a chance for Eragon, especially if they stick to one book per season.

What I'd like is a game set in the time before the fall of the dragonriders. It could be singleplayer, co-op, or even MMO, where players get to create their own dragonriders and dragons.
Cuz lets face it, the books are a boring rehash of a rehash of another story. To give it to Disneys mediocre show writers isn't going to help it in the slightest.
It's off the table.. Disney is under pressure to get away from endless reboots and remakes. No one even got attached to it so at least no careers got ended..

I swear, I SWEAR, if they make ONE PERSON GAY in the Eragon tv show, I WILL SCREAM AND THROW MY REMOTE IN THE TRASH. You complained about not having enough gay representation, now you have too much of it and not enough straight representation! If Paolini lets it stand that Disney will make it gay and incorrect, I have lost all my faith in humanity. My thing also is, people complained about Grover being black in the Percy Jackson movie, and they also complained about Annabeth having brown hair, but why is it NOT a problem now to have an Indian Grover and a black Annabeth??? The ONLY person they got right was Percy! They made every other character a race other than white by what I understand, and it drives me NUTS. There are PLENTY of roles for black/racial minority groups out there, but NOT in Percy Jackson!! And Rick Riordan BACKS this???? What sort of GARBAGE is Disney making nowadays???

Well as far as i can remember there werent any gay couples in eragon, but if they have to which there are rules to follow there will be representation in everything that shows up on the screen. So its very possible that there will be gay couples or characters that are gay in Disneys version of eragon. However i do hope that they create a new character for that reason instead of re writing an already existing character just to have someone represent a minority.
you seem really homophobic and racist. as long as it doesn’t alter the story, i don’t see the issue. it would be different if a character was obviously asian and they made them black or white or latino. but nothing says an elf can’t be any of those people or colors. as for romantic relationships, it would be bad if they made eragon gay but if there’s a side character that isn’t specified and they use them for representation then again, that’s not an issue.
