There are still certain bosses and pacs that can give people issues. But overall players are much better.

people were def min maxing heavy in cata, i was raiding ds in middle school and i remember wanting to run with my guild for so long and my gm told me to download vent so he could tell me what talents to take and what consumes to bring. Even back then as a youngster most of the people were dog
It feels easy as a DPS but look at Healer Mana. That’s the true limit of your Group.

If dungeons were prenerf and super hard and required CC and stuff it would have been fun for the hardcore players for a few weeks then nobody would be doing after all the hardcore players did their rep grinds and got all their prebis heroics would be dead. Blizzard definitely made the right choice in my opinion I played back in cata and i remember how bad some of the dungeons like stonecore and lost city of tolvir and deadmines were all brutal on pug groups. things like mobs who even if the tank had threat casted on random players and if it didnt get interrupted healer got one shot etc.
Everything in classic feels easy after mythic+ or raiding on retail.
Some heroic dungeons were a lot harder than others. It might be undertuned also. I remember having to cc something every other mob and it required a lot of coordination. Some dungeons when people qued in and realized which one it was would instantly drop group.
ye because so far what i see its the nerfed version.. not the crazy op 1 shoting mobs :D and bos abilitys also do alot lett

Heroics are easier because the game is 14 years old and it’s 2024. We are a lot better at the game and have better and more optimized characters and equipment.
We are used to Mythic+ and harder content in general.
these are also the post-nerf heroics.. they nerfed all the damage by like 50%

The patch 4.0.6 is what you’re thinking of and no, there was never a global damage nerf. Most dungeon bosses had major bug fixes and mechanics changes to reduce unintended difficulty.
For example, Vortex Pinnacle has no damage changes, it’s all minor adjustments to boss mechanics.
The original heroics are more punishing but not as hard as you remember and certainly not 50% harder.
