This talk reminds me of the song “Opiate” by Tool. “Choices always were a problem for you. Trust in me and everything I tell you” “Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow” The song is about the church’s taking advantage of the uncertainty in people, instead of leading the to certainty
teams of people who go: "i'll just do whatever you tell me to do" wont achieve much thanks, yaron, i couldve really used that ages ago. unfortunately plenty of people, including my teachers who forced group work onto us didnt understand this. all we learnt was to follow ab appointed group leader that we neither liked nor respected. in that way it DID prepare us well for the military draft. gawd, i truly hate my home country. everyone is wealthy through high level corruption on a global scale and there's sheer incompetence and absolute nitwit losers everywhere.
Democracy leads to civil war, not basically because of conflict among minorities (or competing groups in principle) but because of, as the Greeks knew, the lack of reason. *****There is no objective purpose and standard for voters***** Policies increasingly fail and misery increases until physical force among groups or from a tyrant seems ,in their impotent desperation, a good thing to do. The result may or will be irrational group conflict to enforce competing irrational ideas.
I watch many people preaching to their crowd. I can spend long hours rifling thru videos all day. Maybe the best thing to do is to influence whatever current "regime" is running things, brother.
@Chris67-p9v I understand. But convincing the public of anything still doesn't change much. It's always a tug of war back n forth in so-called democracies that continue to be corrupt, no matter what. Even if we were to put in all these talking heads, they'd be the same flies on the same dump. Meantime, for those who love pontificating, and building a following, there's money to be made. Funny how those talking most about producing anything produce nothing.
Jesus, Yaron is so philosophically illiterate No serious philosopher or anyone who has read philosophy seriously says “I can’t flap my wings, therefore, I don’t free will” lol
Your inability to capture essences is the only thing that stands to such an illiteracy, if that is what you got out of this sweepingly brilliant and powerful philosophic exposition
stop using big words to sound smart. He said something ridiculously stupid about how no one in philosophy thinks freedom exists when most professional philosophers are compatibilists and aren’t committed to Yaron’s caricatures and cartoonish examples of freedom. Freedom is defined as the ability to choose otherwise, and it doesn’t entail the ability to act in physically impossible ways
Brilliant!

He was just part of a debate in which almost everyone disagreed. NHS is arguably a national religion in the UK.

Hello
Jesus, Yaron is so philosophically illiterate
No serious philosopher or anyone who has read philosophy seriously says “I can’t flap my wings, therefore, I don’t free will” lol
He was talking about someone else's definition of freedom, not his own.
Your inability to capture essences is the only thing that stands to such an illiteracy, if that is what you got out of this sweepingly brilliant and powerful philosophic exposition

@@kingofdebating If those are big words for you and intimidated by them, you are the illiterate.
Are you aut!st!c that you cannot detect the essence of what is implied, instead everything has to be literal to you?
