Some of the things he does are a little reckless or self-serving, but I think he really does try his best and has good intentions and just sometimes doesnt think things through all the way. Some people just dont try to understand him or where he comes from at all.
The few swiftness who complained didn't know who he is at all. They listened to the internet blurbs and believed a false narrative. Hopefully, he and taylor didn't breakup because of them.
I know, they will feel bad for ruining a good thing when they realize he is very far from the villain Buzzfeed made him out to be. I have never seen misinformation spread so aggressively in my life.
its just crazy that no swifties were trying to cancel him when ts and matty wore eachothers merch YEARS ago or when taylor sang at the 1975s show. however they only cared when they were dating bc taylor dating a “racist and sexist” would make her look bad thus making them look bad for supporting her
@@eleanor_me_girlfriend exactly. It's the double standard for me. Also, Taylor is codependent for never being able to be like, alone for once. 🤦🏻♀️ Like no, you have to love yourself to love others.
this is the man i support. not some person who’s painted to be a monster. he shows his care and passion in extreme ways cus that’s how change happens. nobody’s perfect, but he is not a bigot, those are mistakes that don’t fall into the “people change” category. he has always made it clear he fights for equality and if people weren’t dumb, they would understand satire and maybe dive into the 1985’s lyrics and find the countless times he calls out issues like climate change, the racist justice system, and homophobia.
yes. i think he has good intentions with most of the things he says or does i think he just doesnt think things through sometimes or think ab the effects or how it comes across to ppl who dont know him or are a fan
He's been misunderstood by people who have not listened to him. He's not a racist. Though I will say, as one of my black friends reminds me, everyone is, to some degree. We've all been aculterated, not seeing really knowing the black experience, and thankfully now finally more people are speaking, and more people are listening. Let’s not be quick to judge, and therefore disconnect from the very real dialogue taking place.
i do think some of the things he says are him purposely trying to cause controversy but i know its not how he actually feels and more ab getting a reaction out of ppl. some of the things hes said and done i will not defend but a lot of the sexist racist etc things ppl say hes done is taken out of context and misconstrued
Agree, have a crush on him . For me he is handsome and cute and honest and sensitive.....sometimes covered with a rock star attitude and the need to be cool.
The thing is, it's not about the jokes, it's about the audience. Matty has a larger reach than anyone of his inclinations by at least double, and when he's exposed to the Swift Fandom (which is a good 10x larger than that), you're just operating on a scale much larger than you can comfortably perform the way you'd like to. People who've given their time and energy towards understanding you are never going to take joking around as racist behavior. But when you're dealing with a room where 9 out of every 10 people aren't going to give you the opportunity to explain yourself, you don't really get the ability to do things that need more than a moment's explanation.
He is wrong on abortion. It is mass murder when you decide to kill an uborn child. Just because it's unborn doesn't mean it's not alive. He should be using his fame as a chance to promote safe sex. But he knows full well if he was for the abortion bill. His fans would turn away. They are all ill-informed brainwashed adolescents
@@poeticfragments so is killing someone a human right even though the person killed has done absolutely nothing wrong? I rest my case. Have a nice day.
@poeticfragments pathetic excuse of a woman/girl you are. It's not your fault though. It's the way you have been brainwashed by the system. And your psrents. Never mind
Excellent compilation! So authentic to him! Here's an idea: make one of these about Matty's many comments on or about Taylor Swift. Or any times the two of them have both spoken about the same topic and pair them up... Then... You know... Make sure this is the recommended video at the end. I guarantee you that you get 2x the views at least out of it.
That crossed my mind too. I remember I read somewhere that Matty was really deeply impacted by seeing his dad in a play for the first time when he was young. And at the time he couldn't separate someone slapping his dad on stage as part of a performance as opposed to someone actually hurting him irl. Poor baby, that must've been real traumatic for him 😢
he doesnt actually believe what he says. its a bit and its jokes. that still doesnt make it okay either i dont agree with him saying it but thats not how he actually feels.
Matty has NEVER been racist ever, he is the biggest ally... I take it you are quoting a podcast you havent listened to, what he said on the podcast is that he slid into Ice Spice and Doja Cats DMs coz they are attractive, and they ignored him. The other two hosts did the accent thing, but he did not partake. The porn thing, he had just come out of a 2-year relationship with a black girl who he loved dearly, he slid into DMs of 2 female celebs, watched porn with black babes on it.... Matty was in his black girl era, he found them attractive, they turned him on. How is that racist??? I say this as a black woman. Anytime I hear someone use the Ice Spice thing, I just know they have not listened to the podcast. I would urge people to be more responsible online, before you destroy people, make sure you know the facts.
On the other hand, Matty has said he grew up listening to black soul music, gospel and Jazz from the 70s and they influence his music, he has black friends, dated a black girl and he doesn't date a lot, a lot of people he looks up to are black, his fav rapper is Lil wayne and speaks highly of Drake and until recently Kanye. He has platformed and championed for causes for minorities including blacks, jews, LGBTIQ, women, immigration etc. It must be very hurtful for him for people to claim he is racist but it's good he understands and has spoken about the performative activism that goes on online. At this point, the facts are out there and anyone who continues to run with this racist narrative is either hateful or not very bright.
not out of my way. also if i remember right nothing in the video was ab race. these are moments not talked ab enough. some of the things hes said i will not defend but a lot is taken out of context. i think his blm post w the song was an honest mistake that he APOLOGIZED for. i do not think he realized what it looked like which is why he apologized. the jokes on that podcast im not going to defend bc they were wrong whether it was a joke or not. i dont think matty is actually a bad person i think he likes to get a reaction out of ppl and has a hard time shutting his mouth sometimes.
I like Matty but his take on abortion is straight out of Reddit. There's obviously some disingenuous or misogynistic prolifers (especially in the GOP), but most of us believe, correctly, that you can't exclude unborn people from being rights-bearers without excluding other groups of people. We fully acknowledge the incredibly difficult and subtle circumstances faced by pregnant women the world over, we just don't think the solution to that is ending a person's life. Happy to answer any questions on this.
i dont think thats true. there are lots of men specifically men w podcasts who share their takes on womens rights and abortions and there are men in the world who watch and agree. there are lots of men who dont realize what people who can get pregnant go through.
when giving birth can end or worsen the person who is giving births life then they should be able to have choices. there are ppl who can not afford, are not ready, or whos bodies can not handle giving birth. ppl should not be forced to give birth as some kind of “punishment” for their actions and in some cases results of something that happened when they did not consent
@@eleanor_me_girlfriend Men with podcasts are notoriously not representative of the population though LOL. But I'm just basing this on every prolifer I have personally met. Though I'm not from the States so there may be more there, but I suspect it's not massively more. And there's definitely people who don't realise how difficult pregnancy can be, but I suspect that's true of both pro choice and pro life people.
@@eleanor_me_girlfriend So it's important to clarify that no prolifer thinks delivering a baby to save their mother's life, even when that baby will inevitably die, is abortion. The difference is intention. If the baby survived the operation (say in the case of ectopic pregnancy) it would be a miraculous success. If the baby survived an abortion, it would have failed. No matter how incredibly awful the circumstances of a child's conception are, the solution for their mother can't be ending their child's life. If you'll allow me to give a perhaps somewhat distressing example, suppose a woman decided to bring a child to term who was conceived through rape, but at the age of 2 the woman starts having PTSD every time she sees the child. Would you think it was acceptable to kill the child then? Let me know what you think and we'll go from there. Thank you for being civil and engaging! For the record I think Matty bringing up the idea of punishment was supremely unhelpful. No prolife person thinks of having a child as a punishment. If anything, people are naively sunny about how wonderful having children is (obviously having children is great, and people say is generally the best and most worthy thing about their lives, but it can also be really hard, it's good to just be honest about the good and bad). Also just to clarify, I'm a very left-wing guy economically. The state should redistribute wealth to families and expecting mothers (the party I support in Ireland advocates starting child benefit in the third trimester and similar supports) so no mother feels unable to support their child. Abortion would massively reduce in demand if we had a more just society. We should also seriously invest in improving the adoption system, as I think that is definitely a choice parents should be supported in making if they come to the hard realisation that they can't give their child the life they think they deserve. Also fathers should be forced to support and stay in the lives of their children. Being an absentee father should be a criminal offence.
I think he is a good person. He tries his best. But yeah he's a Human Too.
