probably not the mini-course, because now we teach nahawand in greater detail in OQ ... at least some versions when we do nahawand. This time we're doing hijaz and bayati. If you want to learn maqamat more generally, I would suggest start with this upcoming OQ, and then I normally give returning students a discount to join again when we do a diff maqam
Salaam, if you're using "maqamat" in a specific sense of Arabic tune, then technically speaking the answer would be no. Think of the Sudanese reciters e.g. Shaykh Nurayn rA, they're reciting in a diff tune. But practically speaking the arabic maqamat are just the most common and familiar when it comes to Quran recitation. Hope that helps!
Asalam alaikom. Please can you direct me to some free literature on the science of tajweed and moqqam. I am a trained classical music teacher, a muslim, a student of Islam and a physicist. I am interested in researching this further and perfecting my own recitation.
Wa alaikum as salaam a really good book is The Art of Reciting the Quran by Kristina Nelson. It's more of an overview about the topic rather than a guide to learn tajweed or maqamat. can you kindly send me an email? I can follow up ... idrees at reciteintune dot com
a jins is a part like a building block of a maqam. So a maqam is a combination of ajnas - with one jins being the dominant one. For example maqam hijaz would have jins hijaz at the bottom + another jins on top
Love how you've managed to simplify and explain a concept that we don't easily find content on. Baarakallahu feek

Is Maqamat and Jins same?
