It's a quote from a review from one of the Nintendo related magazines, and it was supposed to be added on the original box art. But because of the cancellation of the N64 version, they couldn't add the quote. I'm pretty sure that they added it on the modern N64 boxes just to make it look like it already came out in the 90's, or that they didn't have a better picture without the quote, so they took the same front cover as the PS1 version (that fsr has the quote from that specific magazine, on a PS1 game)

To some random person a shogi game might look like a mahjong game. Some may think all anime is essentially porn. Also the Start and Select buttons have the shape from those buttons on the PlayStation controllers, and there was no Select button on regular N64 controllers. Weird.
Not really if you look at the stores on each console. There are a lot of creepy anime games on psn. And a ridiculous amount of dlc they would have to approve. Everything reaches a breaking point at a certain volume.
Actually this N64 censorship was self-imposed for the most part as many devs believed that Nintendo still held their policies from the early 90s. Nintendo still had their policy for their own devs (aside from Conker) but, they toned down significantly after the ESRB formed. Also, there's BMXXX on GameCube as one of the big known instances where Sony censored and Nintendo didn't

SBK and Michief Makers both made me smile. Remembering way back when I was a kid, I thought my controller was busted whenever I played MM, because you play with the D-Pad, but every other game used the analog stick at the time. I got through the first 3 stages using nothing but dashes and boosts before I realized I was playing it all wrong.
oh my god, cruisin' USA... I've played the arcade version of that game SO much, because a rich friend of my dad bought it on a whim cause his son was into racing games at the time. so, whenever my dad went over to his place, I came along just to play. thats easily one of the most fun arcade cabinets in existence.
It was in hotels only and it was amazing after being on the road for 8 hours and needing something entertaining before cell phones had internet. Lodgenet was On Demand before there was On Demand. You could use the controller to order movies too. You could play one grand prix of Mario Kart and watch Galaxy Quest before getting up real early and hitting the road again.

Oh my gosh at 8:46, my mom and I stayed in a hotel that had a 64! I remember playing SO MUCH of Donkey Kong racking up a really impressive hotel bill. To Mom's credit she never got upset and was happy I had a great time. Those are some of the best memories.

I remember using a Lodgenet N64 at a Holiday Inn before my cousin’s wedding in 2006. Also remember using a Lodgenet SNES at a hotel in 2000 I think. It was my first introduction to the SNES!

It had all those same strange buttons, and it actually had it's own operating system to select which game you wanted to play, like emulators of today. There wasn't even an N64 unit out in the open, it must have been hidden behind the tv with all the other wiring. I forgot all about that, and gameshark online. Great video.
That lodgenet thing makes so much more sense now. In Canada there are lodgenet setups with custom gamecube controllers in lots of hotels still. No actual gamecube though.

That dual controller mode in Star Wars Ep1 racer was itself a hidden cheat code - not a default option . And you had to plug into ports 1+3 for player 1. RR DUAL was the code, from first unlocking a debug menu , so it was a few steps of effort, but a ton of expert fun
I have a 5th way to hold the N64 controller, I used it as a kid because I would sit on the fool and look up at the TV. You would sit Criss-Cross style and put the controller in your lap. You grab the right side with your right hand and your left hand would grab the control stick like a claw in a crane game. It's a little out there, but it worked with everything I played.
