You took the words out of my mouth because I kept thinking " WOW how special !" I love Volkswagens , especially the Beetle , my family had a Sunshine Yellow Beetle when I was a toddler , all I remember is the sound of the engine & the smell of the interior... Thank you !
FLAT 4 was one of the biggest influencer of American Culture in Japan at my college time(1980). Even I had been wanted to visit them to buy their T-shirts without Beatle nor driving licence. Good video and like it.
Love this video and others I’ve seen on your channel. As a new subscriber and car enthusiast, I’m learning from your style and ideas. I’ve been going to Japan since 2015 but mainly to iwaki Fukushima prefecture. Was wondering about your camera and lens setup. Thanks in advance 🤝🏼
I used to visit Tokyo for work 3 times a yearfor 15 years and regularly made the trip to Meguro to oogle at the vintage speed parts they had on offer there. I have a set of Flat4 sprintars on my 65 Devon splitty here in Sydney, Australia since 2006 and they were/still are top quality reproductions and always sold top notch quality parts. Will have to visit them in Yokohama now!
Great vid but wow the lens choice and look of the whole video is incredible. The interior shots especially are F-stopping marvellous. Makes me want to import a Bug from there :)
Good episode! Like the showcasing of cars like early vw’s and shops like Flat4. Miss seeing shops like this with such a cool presentation. Definite destination shop. For me reminds me of AutoPlus where parts displayed and cases of eye candy and even full cars on display to showcase their work.
Thanks for showcasing some of the aircooled VW scene in Japan, it is very strong there, I highly recommend checking out: Car House - Hachisucho, One Low - Hakonegasaki, Bears VW - Higashimurayama, Jeffery's - Hirabayashikita (Osaka) and TOA international - Harumicho.
I was beginning to think that you hated old VWs as you always walked right by then at shows. Then I woke up this morning and was greeted by a video of Flat Four and that made my morning. I live in the corn belt of the USA but got hooked on a VWs when I was stationed in SoCal. Love Yokohama as well, been there a few times.
Glad you enjoyed the video, need to learn more on these cars and the respective culture then I could have something interesting to say when I spot them at shows ☺️
I really like the old Denny's being used this way, makes it very quirky and kinda cool to see, rather than the usual plain and boring garage buildings.
Minute 16:35 on the horn button that’s the flag of São Bernardo do Campo VW Plant in Brazil 🇧🇷 !!! VW had the flag of the cities from the plants in their horn burton, so they had Puebla from Mexico 🇲🇽 plant, Wolfsburg from Germany 🇩🇪 and this one from Brazil !
Personally, I have a Porsche 356 Replica, Beck Speedster, that has the 1776 cc but with Fi-Tech Fuel Injection these guys could definitely emulate if they wanted to. Because of the demand that has been generated for the 356 Speedster, selling them would be super-fast, and the money these replicas command is quite high, and especially when you realize original 356 Speedsters are priced beyond the stratosphere. Also, when I show the car at events containing Lambo's and Ferrari's, it's amazing how many people drift away from those super cars to my little Speedster.
at 16:36 that is a front emblem from a Karmann Ghia made in Brazil, the image represent the city of São Bernardo do Campo at the state of São Paulo, city where are locate the first VW Factory in Brazil.
American watching from the State of Rhode Island in the U.S.-never owned a foreign car of any kind-let alone a bug-but couldn't make it past the first 9 minutes-had to turn it off-due to drowning in my own drool-so-freakin' awsome-holy cr@p. Peace! 😳
Wow, who would have thunk it? Thanks for the reveal; another reason to go to Japan! Is the owners Bug a "67" with a convertible engine cover? Does it use 48 Webers for carbs?
I looked it up, it's called the Rometsch, Karosserie Friedrich Rometsch, a German metallurgical-coachbuilding company based in Berlin-Halensee. In 1957 the Rometsch Lawrence was built, that's what it must be. So, no Karmann after all... me stupid. Did you know what it was? Looks so very similar.
@@rjung_ch then you have modified your first agressive comment... 🙄 Fyi I own some Aircooled VWs and among them one KG 67, it doesn't looks like a KG at all but if you prefer to say that.
@@rjung_ch Rometsch name was mentionned by the owner and we see it written near the car anyway I've seen Rometsch car in the 80's in Germany, there are several meetings with classic cars.
Hell yes! Thanks for covering the VW scene out in Japan! Best Japan automotive content on youtube
Glad you're enjoying it! 🙏
LOVE vintage VW’s!!

Japan really knows how to showcase classics with memorabilia like nowhere else. Great video

Great video ! Nao is one of the nicest guys in the air-cooled scene.
Long Live FLAT 4 !
Thanks for showing us these gems Dino!
Wow! Great video. Thank you very much Dino. Keep going!
Awesome video. In 1984, owned a 1978 VW Super SunBug Beetle 1600 CC's.
It’s great to see someone this passionate about VW. As always amazing quality of the video. Love everything about it ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!

That’s amazing, they had a big influence in Japan at that time. Good to see them still doing well! A very niche scene but interesting

Great to see some VW love. I used to be into VW's big time and visited the old Flat 4 store around 2003, amazing place, nice to see them still going

Thanks! Will do!
Thank you Dino for this wonderful and superb video. I’ve been waiting for this one. I didn’t know they have electric AC kits for old school Vw’s now.

Hee, what a great place. I'm not even a big Bug fan but they make me happy to see. :)
Nice tribute to Gary Berg's '67, looks and sounds great!

Not sure on the details but I’m sure you can find them on their website
You should also cover car runners in Japan who hunt abandoned cars in Japan.
Not sure I follow
Thanks for great and interesting video!
That Carmen Ghia sure is special.
There is no Karmann Ghia in this video...

Electric AC for my Vdub!?! yes please!! definitely looking into getting that!
Can't wait to get that for the 964
When VW made good cars!
The Golf was a good car as well, but their ID line doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy.
Cool!
Japanese are great craftsmen that perfect most things they touch.
I was looking at the Hilux that rocked up😂 two of my 10 cars are Hilux 90’s
Can you do the Arrows W124 shop?
Love it!!!!
Unfortunately their web page is not in English so it’s hard to order parts . Nice video .
Oh really? I’d send them an email and inquire
Haha that site was an old Denny's!
Dino, Keep attention, it’s easy, to become beetle addicted😁
I can really see why people get into these cars now!
@@dino_dc Yes, Ferdinand Porsche was a genius. It was the people’s car simple and reliable. And looks great,
Nice stance. What tire size you have in that car?
Not sure, maybe there are specs on the website
Beetle FTW
Awesome
That shop has been there for 28 generations and has been handed down from father to son for the last 328 years.
Not quite but old enough nonetheless…
Hello please how can I contact you for some part
I don’t sell parts so please try to contact Flat 4 via mail or phone

In UK we call Japanese cars JDM... in Japan do they call European cars EDM?
Just European cars
Just an outsider and never part of the car culture there lol
Who?
Gave up watching soooo many adds
I believe that’s how UA-cam functions
Always triggered by a Porsche fanatic who can't pronounce it correctly...Just say the 'e' as well. Lovely shop though!
I'll do my best to sound more German next time I say it
Great cars..I got Shady vibes from the owner.Hes hiding something.
