I think the daytime vs nighttime fragrance change might have been referring to whether or not you should wash off the daytime scent before applying the nighttime one. Could be wrong but sounds like that's what they're asking.
I was going to say the same thing. The obvious thing to do would be a change of clothes and a shower. I got the feeling the person asking the question was implying that was not an option. They were asking if its okay to spray a different scent over the daytime scent.
The one question that wasn't addressed which I would like to know is how often do fragrances go bad? The standard answer online is fragrances will last three to five years but people like Ash have hundreds of bottles that they probably had longer than that?
I have been keeping my bottles in the refrigerator for the past 20 years. They last for years this way. Read an article in GQ Magazine in the 80's stating keep your colognes refrigerated due to their alcohol content.
My maison margiela box said two years before it’ll go bad but it hasn’t gone bad. I also have BDC that I bought 5 years ago and it still hasn’t expired nor smells any different from new bottles in store. Short and easy answer, they won’t if stored properly. Simple way is to keep them below room temp in a dim/low light area (a closet or keep them in the box they came in)
I store mine In my armoire and live in a normal room temperature house. I have had fragrances that still smell the same after 20 years and I have never had a fragrance go rancid or smell bad. Performance may have deteriorated a bit, but honestly there are times when I pull out some oldies and I never notice a lack of performance or any smell difference.
I’m 57 yrs old, and one thing I’ve definitely noticed is that fragrances are “generally” not as strong and concentrated as they used to be overall. I just recently purchased Sauvage Eau de Parfum, sprayed it on my arm off and on throughout the evening, and the next morning couldn’t smell it at all. I went and exchanged it for the Elixer, and I could DEFINITELY still smell that the next morning. Lol 🤣Sorry so lengthy, thank you for what you do, and giving us great content.
For blind buys look up the notes in your favorite scents and find others similar to it. a few if my favorites are spicy woody so if I'm looking into a blind buy I know I'll be sorta safe with a scent labeled woody I like tonka bean and citrus notes like grapefruit blood orange pineapple
Definitely putting it on clothes drastically increases performance but it’s also worth putting some on your skin for projection and so you can smell the more softer notes in the fragrance. This is the kind of situation where I say why not both
I always do at least two sprays on skin and two on the shirt. That way you get the best of both worlds; projection from spraying on skin and longevity from spaying on clothing.
I think the 'day to night' might mean should I shower and wash off the daytime fragrance before applying a night fragrance. Guessing the answer is it depends on how much the day fragrance has faded. If just a skin scent you can apply the night fragrance if it is still moderate to strong I'd shower and wash it off first.
I mix lotion with the SOTD(Azzaro Wanted by night) and hand sanitizer (used all day)as well and it makes the scent last until you wash it off.Happy Easter peeps🐰🐣☺
Non scented mineral oil place it on the spots where you spray your scent. Oil dose ot evaporate like alcohol dies. This has worked for myself making your fragrance last
Hi! Great video! Couple questions for you all. 1) not referring to spraying on clothes nor how many sprays nor strong base notes. What ingredient within a frag does give it longwvity? 2) how do you sell your frags? Not referrinv to Facebook groups which tend to want a deep discount. Not asking about gifting. Are used frags allowed to be sold on ebay? Perhaps I am doing something wrong. It's only letting me choose new.
Fantastic video, Ash. Your explanation on how to blind buy a fragrance made my whole day. Sarcasm is strong with you, oh fragrance Jedi Master. Happy Easter to you and the fam, Ash! 👍
I sometimes spray my wrist or the back of my hand if I am going somewhere outside so I can spray a little more and when I get back inside you can wash it off so it's not too overwhelming
I agree, Ash, the wrist has served me zero success and I literally get zero projection. I have better projection spraying forearm, yet even then it’s still almost not worth it
@@moneykm10 is he? Where did you get bisexual from? I'm also well groomed and fabulous (maybe not as much as Jeremy) but dudes... No thanks! I'll have 2 ladies if there are any willing 😉
Why do fragrances smell different on people's skin.. perspiration and bacteria. Bacteria is what causes body odor. Perspiration (i.e. sweat) will also be different depending on your body chemistry and what you eat. Also some people perspire more than others.
Personally I spray on the back of my hand (as well as each side of the back and back of neck, but back of hand/hands every time). Works well for me. Depends on what I'm wearing but with lighter scents I'll do the back of each hand, two neck pulse points, back of neck and front of shirt, sometimes even inner arm too. For strong stuff like Sauvage Elixir then back of one hand, one back of neck, one or two front of neck depending how loud I want it to be.
How to use: Fragrance is intensified by the warmth of your own body. Apply in the creases of your knees and elbows for longer-lasting, stronger scent. This was from Givenchy
i think the person who ask "how do i buy fragrances online without smelling it" actually mean something like "how do i reduce the risks of getting frags' smells i don't like from buying them online".. the answer is rather obvious.. watch/read lots of reviews.. On the other hand, that response though... it is rather epic.
Do not spray fragrance on your clothing if 1. You are wearing expensive clothing like a suit or dress shirt which could stain. 2. You are wearing clothing that you want to wear with a different fragrance later that night and the daytime scent is unlikely to have faded. 3. The clothing retains the scent too long and you have to wash it or dry clean it (e.g. dress clothing) to get rid of scent. Dry cleaning is can be expensive and a hassle. And excessive washing can reduce the lifetime of your clothing.
Hey Ash, we love you back here in India. We would love to know what "top 10" famous fictional characters would wear (imagine thomas shelby or hank moody :)
Spray routines seem to be the most asked questions. For me, I usually do 1 spray on the front and back on my shirt and 4 on the front, back and sides of my neck. If it’s less potent, I’ll do two more on the inside of my elbow.
Ash that is not what the dude meant He means when he wants to go out at night and he already has a daytime fragrance on can he just spray over it or should he shower or or....
I spray about five times usually I'll spray once each time behind my ears because there are pulse points there and I'll spray one spray on my shoulder blades usually on the shirt and then I spray one time on the back of my neck so to leave a nice Sillage scent bubble around me, and if the fragrance is really weak I'll probably even spray on the inside of my elbow I think I've done that a few times
I love your videos and watch almost all of them. Even made a few purchases from your recommendations. Although this video was a little off for me. It seemed like there were actually some genuine questions that some people had and you deliberately gave wrong answers or pretended not to understand. That's a shame. Hopefully those people will get some responses answered in the comments. Sometimes witty isn't always best. 🤷🏾
you may wanna not tell people to spray cologne in their mouths unless ya want to create new challenge lol don't forget people were eating tide pods and smoking bed bugs. Gotta be careful Ash lol
10:32 What kind of question is that? 🤦🏻♂️ Just buy the decant/sample first. If you like it, then buy the full bottle. OR ... watch the full review of fragrance you are looking for, if you wanna "blind buy" it.
I think the person who'd asked about switching from day scent to evening scent wanted to know what they should actually do to make the switch, in which case the answer would be either wash up the area where they'd applied the day scent or take a shower.. Thanks for the video, Fragrance Jesus! 👍🏼

Oh ya, put the fragrance in the safe, and hopefully you'll think of something later.
Why do a video of Q&A if the majority of your answers are going to have such condescending answers and undertones? For some who have just started on this journey, these types of questions are 100% legit. For the questions that might be a bit blatantly obvious, just pass on them. Just an observation. Gotta laugh at the evolution of fragcom and how YT is utilized in the hobby present day. Especially when you've been around pretty much since day 1. SMH
At least 2 of those questions, you didn’t answer the heart of the question and just mocked it and was sarcastic. ie: A more appropriate answer to how do I blind buy on internet? Is, start learning which notes you like by sampling many fragrances. If you find something online that is highly rated & has many of the notes you like, then you can be reasonably sure it’s something you will like. ie: When they asked how to you switch from a day scent to night scent. They are asking how do you not make the two scents clash into each other. A decent answer is to wash areas you sprayed with soap & water & probably change your shirt if you sprayed on it earlier.
Oh how ignorant are people, let me count the ways...For God's sake, why does fragrance have to be so friggin' COMPLICATED!! In general, I'm relatively certain that people who wear fragrances must be considerate, thoughtful and at least somewhat imaginative members of society who are at least PARTIALLY capable of independant thought, right? Or are we just soulless, consumer automatons who are completely devoid of such things?! In other words, FIGURE IT OUT people!! Do what you wanna do with YOUR fragrances! Enjoy them however you feel is right for YOU!! It's just that simple!

Don't you damage your clothes that way? Last time I wore YSL bleu electrique (which is..blue), I was pretty careful not to spray it on a white shirt.

This one seemed obvious to me. Too bad Ash missed the meaning.
The other issue here is that you won't be able to wear the same clothes if you sprayed your day time scent all over them and the scent is still there.
Nah, evening scent will always be heavier and overpower daytime one. Just spray more 😂

ISO E Super is a great note that ‘pushes’ the longevity of a fragrance. He spoke of it when he mentioned Molecule 01 at around the 3:40 mark
After showering, slab on some thin layers of Vaseline across the area you’ll be spraying.

Do not spray fragrance on your clothing if
1. You are wearing expensive clothing like a suit or dress shirt which could stain.
