    I am the person in this video. I first want to apologize to all of you who have viewed this video and wondered how I am doing now and I never followed up until now. unfortunately I did not continue wearing the orthotic after about 4 months. it seemed to give me some initial relief especially in my shoulder. I had some other health issues in my life and it was difficult to be faithful wearing the orthotic. I cannot speak for anyone else about this procedure and if it helps ease the symptoms of cervical dystonia. for me I cannot honestly say if it would have helped me since I didn't continue with the doctors protocol. I still live with the day to day challenges of cervical dystonia. Hope this helps those who wondered how I progressed.

      Craig Kulonis I have just recently been diagnosed with distonia, it started with in this year. Right now my only relief is a travel pillow and sleep. Go much did this cost? If you don't mind me asking. Even if it is a few months of relief, I'd be happy for a moment. It's not even been a year and people like yourself, are inspiring me to keep going.

      Hi James. I think it would be best for you to talk with Dr. Demerjian. As i stated I did not keep up with the protocol so I wanted to follow up and inform people how I was doing. I hope you can get help. A good book I would recommend to read is Diagnosis Dystonia by Tom Seaman. He has a wealth of tips and information on how to live with dystonia. Don't give up hope!

      I'm so sorry for you sir. Why didn't you stick with the protocol? I wish you were more educated, all your other symptoms are because your TMJ is compressing your trigeminal nerve which twists the entire spine and gives you endless symptoms. Why in Gods name did you quit?

    Wow! That's amazing! Hope he's continuing to do well. He gave a really good explanation of how the neck turns to one side and the shoulder pulls up.

    Wow! The next time my neck/shoulder spasms get going I’m going to find this kind of help. I never knew there was help for it. I just thought I had to wait for it to resolve. Talk about amazing!

    This is pretty basic people. The guy has TMJ due to probable bad Occlusion. His TMJ is probably both compressed one anterior the other posterior. The skull collapsed due to lack of height and again.... Occlusion. The trigeminal nerve is being compressed causing most of the symptoms. The dystonia is due to internal and external rotation

    This is fantastic... how do I go about finding out where I can get a TMJ evaluation? I suffer from Spasmodic torticollis for 4 years now. I do PT, acupuncture, Botox and muscle relaxers but none of it lasts too long. I would love be able to sit straight up without my head pulling to the right, giving me shoulder pain, stiff neck, neck spasms, headaches, loss of balance and slowly feeling my quality of life fading away. I live in New York. Can you recommend a doctor or treatment facility??

    Does anyone know if any doctors in Australia do this kind of treatment? I've been seeing a neurologist for a little while now but all he only gives me medication like vallium and I did have botox once but it didn't do anything. I can't work or drive and I've had this thing since I was 13 and I'm 27 now. I only got diagnosed this year with it and before that they just thought it was just anxiety...I feel really let down by all the doctors i've seen through out my life! I feel so hopeless...feel like giving up honestly.

      Hi Laura. I've been diagnosed with cervical dystonia about 2 years ago...valium was the only thing that helped for me. Botox injections worked for the first 5 rounds but hasn't given any relief this time. What neurosurgeon are you seeing if you don't mind me asking?

      +Laura LaVegan Have you tried the STClinic in New Mexico? They have a long distance treatment program if it is too far to travel. It involves diet change (eat healthy and eliminate sugar and coffee and tobacco, etc) daily stretching/exercises, massage, soak in hot tub. It does work but must be done the rest of your life

      Hello Laura, try to get a TMJ evaluation. The people that I have treated on these videos have an underlying TMJ condition.

    Instead of just leaving a tray in the mouth why isn't MRIs and sonograms being done while the implant is being placed to see what is happening????

    • @drdemerjian
      @drdemerjian  8 років тому +1

      MRI's are used to Diagnose the jaw joints, to know what to do as far as treatment.

    Interesting that there has been no follow up on this for over a year and a half. This isn't the kind of thing you just post (as a physician) and then forget about it. Why no follow up? NO more info?

      I just published a paper in the Journal of Translational Medicine. It shows with an fMRI how the brain activity changes within minutes just by placing the Dental orthotic which properly decompresses the nerve within the jaw joint.

      I do not check these comments regularly, because I post these for educational purposes for people to see and consider that they may be helped with an alternative treatment. They may have an underlying TMJ problem.

    I think I have TMJD and the first symptoms I had were chronic neck stiffness at the base of the skull in college. It wasn't until years later I got all the other TMJ symptoms.

    application of botulotoxin is to the main spastic muscle or to the muscle tending to most imobility of the neck. The process´s called chemical denervation, when the muscle ,because of the presynaptic blocade, is inactivate and it starts its atrophy.Inervation of the muscle´ll exacerbate until 3 months

    so what's in the way? do surgery on the jaw. I think this is BS

    • @davidbmilton524
      @davidbmilton524 10 місяців тому

      I don't think it's BS. I am very fortunate to live in a part of Canada where a TMJ specialist named Dr. Patrick Girouard has his practice, and he was a student of Dr. Brendan Stack who pioneered this I believe. I have suffered from CD/ST for 25 years, and it was always treated as a Neurological problem - I even had a Neurosurgery with wires going into the deep part of my brain and connected to a "Neurostimulator in my chest. Most of these things become ineffective over time. So I've had my first visit with Dr Girouard, and my treatment should begin with my next visit which will include a number of specialized "Radiographs" (read MRI's). The total amount quoted is $4500, which I have saved up and will gladly pay, but my Blue Cross plan might pay 80% - still waiting to hear from them. I have 100% faith that this will work for me. Why would anyone fake this? CD/ST is such a rare condition, and this particular treatment is not easily done - I think it has to be very precise, but better than jaw surgery. Also, there are many other videos on here that demonstrate exactly the same approach.
      Anyone living in Atlantic Canada or Quebec, or anywhere in Canada for that matter with CD/ST please respond to me and I will give you directions. His practice is in Dieppe, NB Canada.
