  • What do you do if your prop cone is seized? We discovered this on a short haul last fall and had to wait until this spring to deal with it. The mechanic at the first yard said we'd have to cut off the prop shaft and replace it - eh, that's a lot of money...like four figures. So we did some research and discovered you can cut the cone off carefully and save the drive shaft.
In this video, you'll see a summary of the project and how we did it. With no experience, this is online research and learning on the job. It's the first priority for our spring haul on the owner "to-do" list, while the pros are handling some fiberglass repairs and giving us a new bottom job and shiny topsides.
We'd like to thank Long Hull Outfitters (www.longhullou...) and Zimmerman Marine in Mathews County, VA. We have been extremely happy with both companies and can recommend them enthusiastically.
