Thanks for your lesson. You are the only one I’ve heard on youtube that the sentence we can respond to how are you is “I’m fine thank you and you?” So many English youtubers said that English native speakers don’t use the “I’m fine thank you and you” in real life. But the above sentence is always used in Oxford English textbooks. I’m so confused! Could you explain for me please?
Hello and welcome to my channel! Thank you for your comment. 😀 Yes, I have also noticed that many UA-camrs seem to state that native speakers don't use that expression! I am sorry to hear you are feeling confused by it all. I am a native speaker from the south of England and I do use the expression! I believe that it is still correct and suitable in many situations. I use it in situations that are neither very informal nor too formal - that in-between stage such as with shop assistants, relatives, friends of my parents or similar. I don't think it is wrong to use it but that it depends a little on the situation. I might use it with my own friends but there are many other ways to ask the question 'How are you?' and ways of responding which are more common in informal situations, (especially with younger generations in society today). I think if you find yourself in a semi-formal environment you can use it👍 If you are in an informal setting you can use some of the other options I have given in this video. I hope that helps😀
@@GetEnglishFitwithJane Glad to hear that there is a native speaker like you still using that! I myself think that phrase is written by textbook writters from famous Oxford University, so it can’t be wrong or unnatural. I hate to see so many comments on youtube (both native and learners) saying it is unnatural, not used in real life and laugh at anyone who use it!
@@hojteenn7190 Yes, I agree. I know that it might not be used by everyone nor be suitable in all situations but I don't think it should be said that nobody uses it. - Some of us still do!😉👍
@@jasvirchand752 Good morning Jasvir, Thank you for replying. I am pleased you are well😊 English people do say 'I'm good thank you...' but it is better to say 'I'm well thank you...' or 'I'm fine thank you...' = 'I'm (very) well thank you and you?' Thank you for asking Jasvir. 🤗 Yes, I am very well thank you.
